TarantinoFan: In this case a stronger opponent is one who earned more points in this tournament.
S-B points is the sum of points of the opponents you beat. If you beat me one time and I earned 5 points, that's 5 S-B points for you. If you beat me twice, that's 10 S-B points for you. And so on..
50 Brains entry fee pays out 45% to the winner and 25% to the runner up 7 points match with doubling cube 2 days, standard vacation 1 match for each two players
MadMonkey: No, I don't think this is a matter of interpretation. Let's quote the rules literally again:
How to finish the game
The game ends if one player cannot make a legal move.
In this game it was Nirvana's turn. She couldn't make a legal move. So ONE PLAYER could not make a legal move, and the game is over. There is no rule about "passing" a move. If it would be possible, the game would never be over until all the board was populated - as long as there is only one free square, there is always one legal move to be made. So in this case the rules would say:
crosseyed: How is it bad sportsmanship? Calm down, people! You have unlimited game slots! Why do you care about two(!) players moving "too" slow? Just start a few games against faster players ;) Players can move as slow as the time limit rules for the specific game allow them. DEAL WITH IT! If you can't, don't join the tournaments with slow time limits. Or simply create your own faster tournaments...
KotDB: I don't think it's bizarre - it makes it even easier for pawns to plan their tournaments, because they know how many free slots you need BEFORE they know how many people are going to participate in the tournament.
And it IS stated somewhere: at the page of every tournament. It clearly says that you have to have "5" free slots, not "3-7, depending on the number of players signed".
Hrqls: maybe because there are tricky situations as a pawn? I don't know, but I heard of a loophole concerning stairs that enabled pawns to get more than twenty games!
Hrqls: I reentered immediately after leaving, and I "cannot start a new game until ...", so I think that they even count for me, as I finish them while I am in. Not sure about that though ;)
BIG BAD WOLF: that makes it clear, thank you :) So the number which is messed up is the one on the Winners page - it should be either 40 (excluding) or 51 (including) ponds. right? ;)
Eriisa: The idea ist to give random players wildcards for the first round. Maybe one could chose wether to start only if the proper amount of players has signed up, or to start when the deadline passes - no matter how many players are in (well - if there are at least 4 of course)
There are still 3 spots left at the happy birthday tiv noi tournament (Anti Line4, 8 players, single elimination), starting on sunday! I'd be glad if it started in time, because it's a birthday tournament ;)
TIA 4 joining :)
