TexasToest: You mean, only when you come to this board here music starts playing? LOL that is funny.. you must have musical tunes on the soles of you toes!!
Nirvana: Thank you for reminding us of our roots, Every story is multi-faceted, after all. It pays to listen in all directions before crossing. Beautiful music.

Tuesday: It was Napster's contention that the peer to peer sharing concept sold more recordings than it cost in royalties. I agreed with that. I got kind of "off" Napster when they (not Napster, the proverbial "they") started filing suit against people sharing files. That was pretty Gestapo in my book.
I think we've had enough input in here today to take weeks to sort out. There have been a lot of interesting things thrown out for our minds, and souls to consume.
Jim Dandy: Re: Off their first album titled WORD SALAD I agree with you he sounds somewhat like Pete Townshend. He has that strong voice, a similar timbre. I didn't realize you were the cave man type, dragging dates places. If that snaps your suspenders, I guess that's ok.
Re: This Al Green gem flew under the radar: He does seem to be seeking. That song must require multiple hearings to "get it", so I will listen again, and see how I feel then.
Re: An excellent cover of a classic A poignant piece, and I agree an excellent cover. She has a beautiful voice, and the arrangement of that song is quite unusual. Thank you for letting us share it with you.
Radiant2007 :-): When I come on this board, nothing plays without my invoking it. Since it isn't happening for me that I come on the board, and something starts playing, I can't tell you who it is, or what it is. As far as I know, there is not a way to do that.
Radiant2007 :-): I'm sorry if this is wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that it matters if you use rich text editor or not. So, try it the opposite of what you did. (If you have rich text editor on, turn it off.. if you have it off, turn it on..) Worth a try anyways. :-) I might be totally off my rocker, too.
Jim Dandy: Do you remember that we talked about missing Stevie Ray's DOD, and that we didn't really miss it, we just were too late realizing it for it to be meaningful? I ran across this little file today, and thought, "Hey...why not celebrate Stevie Ray's talent?" We talk a lot about dead people, but this guy is still alive. I hear a Stevie Ray Vaughan piece on the radio every day, and every day I fall in love all over again. So, I'm sending this out to all SRV fanatics, and anybody else who wants to spend 10 minutes with MY king of the blues.

Tuesday: Well, MY OPINION is YouTube is part of a huge corporationm, and as long as they have what they have up there, we can link to it here. We're not the ones with the problems. They have a bank of lawyers working for them.
If it makes you feel any better, I heard the other day they had signed a deal with the British licensing organizations that collect royalties in that country. They know they are hanging out, and I also heard they were workong on some deals in the U.S. So, they're trying to make it right. The Germans have filed suit against them for royalty infringement. It seems the kitch thing to do right now. I think Google can hold it's own. If it was fearful of all this, it would either pull the infringing material, or shut down. They have not done either. And, this isn't the first time it has been an issue with them. A lot of artists are putting things up there, because they realize the sales it brings in. So, everybody is benefitting here, it's just the huge record companies and super-rich talent are trying to get a little MORE than the sales a posting on YouTube brings in.
Tuesday: I tend to agree with you! We learn a lot here, don't we.
Jim Dandy: I don't know if they could do that one. Do you think we could arrange it as a Gregorian Chant for them? If you can come up with the drone, I will write the score.
Mousetrap: I found a version of that song that will let you know for sure if you have been converted or not. I started to put it up, but thought it a bit extreme.
Jim Dandy: Now, those arms could hug ya, couldn't they? Might be kinda stiff, though. Thank you for finding that for us. He's kind of one of the originals.

TexasToest: Maybe you could drive to this version? Or jive lmbo! I first heard Eurythmics in hospital when I could,nt sleep and was in so much pain from a broken leg. A friend brought me a tape in of them and I have been hooked ever since. I really was looking for sweet dreams at that time ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OufZbzsUtIo&mode=related&search=
Mousetrap: Marilyn Manson is really a trip. But, I've always liked that song. Not sure that it would be my favorite driving song, though. I'd have to think to much. Hahaha!
TexasToest: Blondi is still going. She was in concert somewhere in NY not long ago. And this one is really good for balsting the cobwebs away http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iuve2OjY_8

Tuesday: Life seems to come at me uninvited. I just leave myself open, and let it fly in. When you near the end, you wake up one day, and realize you never closed your hand and kept anything. I should write songs.
Jim Dandy: Great driving tunes, Would you want to meet that deity? I wouldn't, he was spooky.
One of my favorite driving tunes (it must be, I've about worn out the CD) - Kirsty MacColl - In These Shoes
TexasToest: That is tough to do,trust me,but the adrenalin does kick in............I just came across this rarity. The first time I saw this band I was very disapointed,no stage charisma,Smmy Hagar blew them off the stage, but there is no denying their talent.I wisely caught them again 3 years back, great show. RIP Brad Delp
TexasToest: VERY nice.....very passionate. I loved it. Singing with strep throat has GOT to be painful, but he did a great job.
Speaking of troopers, our minister one year on Christmas Eve sang Ava Maria from the pulpit with pneumonia, and it was broadcast live over the radio. It's all show biz, isn't it?
Tuesday: Thank you, Tuesday. All I am trying to do is bring the subject closer by exposing personal experiences with a lot of artists in our younger years. You and I differ in that those 65 year old guys you lusted for in your teen years are almost (thank goodness) my contemporaries. Hahaha! So, I knew lot of them when. I went to North Texas State University in 1964 to study piano, and discovered Michael Murphy (who is now known as Michael Martin Murphy) and I hung out at the same coffee house. Rather than studying piano, I started a self-study program of guitar, and harmonica. Voice did fit in with my lesson plans at school. Oh, and I had a second major - bridge. Hahahaha! But, there were other people there, Trini Lopez' little brother, Jesse. He blew my mind one day by showing up at my dorm one snowy day to take me to class across campus in his car. You coulda knocked me over with a feather. Hahaha! I was going to cut class and sleep in, but who could resist Jesse Lopez? (Seventh photo down, third from the right.) He was cuter in the winter of 1964. Hahaha! North Texas (now The University of North Texas) is known for it's music school. Don Henley went there, for one. B.W. Stevenson, deceased, but famous went there. And me. Too bad, huh? If you know much about jazz, you will probably have run into the NTSU or UNT lab bands. They are an excellent example of what the school turns out.
Jim Dandy: Very good, excellent as a matter of fact, assessment. I never thought of it that way, other than I knew I had to get the audience fast, and keep them busy. Same thing, only simple southern girl kind of thinking - not so eloquent as yours. If it's ok, I'll use yours in the future.
TexasToest: I guess they have always appealed to my philosophy that good entertaiment grabs you by the throat and doesn't release you till they decide they're finished.A good entertainer takes control, they shouldn't request it.Keep in mind this philosophy only applies to the stage.
