Foxy Lady: yep LOL....spent $50 the other day on shade cloth to put over the grape vines so the birds dont get them....the bunches are really coming along great. Pulled the capsicum out because they had finished. Made 1/2 dozen jars of rosella jam the other day, but they appear to fruit continuously, this is only the 2nd season I have had them but they are great. Bananas are coming along great, and New Guinea paw paw are really good...they are a BIG long paw paw with red flesh....so much sweeter than the golden ones. Tomatoes are really going well, and have just planted another dozen or so plants but dont know what they are as they are seedlings that just grew from where I have tossed garden waste :) I dont care what they are....love tomatoes of any kind.
Gardening Rule: When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
rod03801: I'm in Utica, but we went to Blue Mountain Lake and the trees are turning already. Were 83F right now and tonite it's dropping to around 50.Taz isn't far from me about half hour drive he's most likely getting the same.
Foxy Lady: It's almost 90 today in New Hampshire!!!! Tomorrow too, but more humid. I can't wait until the Autumn weather comes back! I LOVE it! No leaves are changing around here yet. I thought you were south of me.. I'm surprised that you already have colors.. In my part of the state our peak foliage time is mid to late October.
You can tell it's Fall here the leaves are turning, getting dark by 6 or 7PM.Have temps 80 during the day and 40 and 50F at nite.Geese don;t know for sure which way to go,North or South.

A while ago I mentioned the fact that my lemon tree had literally hundred of lemons on it and the tree would have been barely 6 foot tall...here is a pic I took today...it takes a wee while to load.
This is only one of about a dozen bunches exactly the same...They all appear to have set fairly well....what is the general consensus of opinion as to how many will survive.
Foxy Lady: As is ours.. shorter than yours usually ( east coast of Canada) Just an odd year this year.. started late and is nice and warm so going late
Foxy Lady: very much so in the growing season here LOL....everything is going beserk...unusual seasons we are having...it has been showering/raining which it never does in the late winter (it is starting to heat up again) and all is beautifully green and growing rapidly...most unusual weather, but good for the garden :)
We have about another 6-8 weeks of growing time and then it will be far too hot again up until about late Feb or early March.
Foxy Lady: Our season started late this year and is still going. Im in the climate zone above or close to yours.. I think Im one higher than you near the arctic.. anyway.. I still have cukes coming up an beans. my pumpkins are no where near ready yet either.. heck we even had strawberries up last week.. weird weather this year
☼ajtgirl☼: yes i think you could be right, :(..a pity as the fruit is all starting to set..apart from the ones (about a dozen) that are well and truly growing.
Anybody want tomato plants ROFL...I buried dozens of tomatoes that had gone soft about 6-8 weeks ago....3 different kinds of them and now I have more tomato plants than I need ROFL.......I already have plenty of fruit ripening, and dont really need any more plants LOLOL
all mine is planted :) being in the tropics you have to plant early or it will all get burned :(
I have Zucchini, Rosellas, Grapes, Cucumbers, PawPaws (2 types), Bananas, Tomatoes (4 types), capsicums, and sweet potatoes, silverbeet, and heaps and heaps of herbs.
The grapes are going to be terrific this year if I can keep the birds away from them...best crop yet for me.
***edit*** I forgot about the Meyer Lemon tree...it isnt 8 months old and Ive already had 1 ripe lemon off it....There are about a dozen small ones coming on and the flowers are there by the hundred....no kidding....some of them have set and if they all stay on Im going to have to support the branches...the tree itself is only about 6 foot tall.
Already were dropping in the 40's and 50's at nite.We been a cool 70 most of the week.Got our garlic ready to dry i still haven't learned how to braid it.

skipinnz: Canada is no slouch in the potato industry.PEI taters are amongst the best, but it always tastes better when you grow it yourself.I'll do some asking around, thanks.
skipinnz: I'm in Eastern Canada,Toronto.April is probably my time.Drainage is a wise tip. What seeds should I investigate? I want the best tasting and the biggest.Frankentatoes
Jim Dandy: Well I'm getting ready to plant my seed potatoes but I'm in the southern hemisphere. Which will be the start of spring (Sept) thats as I want some by xmas, not sure where you are.
Относно: Re: Is it possible to grow potatoes on an apt balcony?
Jim Dandy:Certainly can get a big enough container , I've used a plastic rubbish bin put some compost in the bottom , put a couple of seed spuds in and as the tops grow keep filling up with compost, just leave a bit of green showing all the time and make sure you put in enough holes for excess water to drain off.
ScarletRose: Wow thats alot of toms. You can also fry them green.I dip them in egg and than flour thats been seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder.Yummy.Ours get ate too fast around here or juiced. My garden isn't that big for that many plants.Good Luck
