I like the above pond - 6 people were left, 1 with 0 points - so all the other 5 had to do was bid 1 to make it to the next round. 4 of the 5 tried higher bids to get the 500 bonus. Just kind of funny how many of us go for the bonus rather then play it safe sometimes.
BIG BAD WOLF: I'll give newbies a pass on the first turn, but often it's the 2nd or 3rd. also it isn't vacation because they invariably change their bid next time.
1) The person may be new - not knowing what they are doing yet. Since you can't search previous moves, a new player has no way to really search a game to "learn" how to play.
2) The person may be going on vacation - and making a big enough bid that it will hopefully keep him in the game until he gets back.
I must say I find it idiotic to bid 2000 when everyone else is bidding 80. This ruins the dynamics of the game for no apparent reason. Anyone have any insight into the thinking?
Fencer: he pond ID is 260? That is the number in the html tag anyway.... removed 3 players and dont remember the name of them though, maybe you could just reinstate all of them and maybe give me their names so I can send the eligable one a messaage that they can join again? If this is not the correct number, where do I find the ID?
I have mistakenly removed a player from my multiple wins pond who is actually eligable to play. Is there a way you can reverse this so that he may sign up again? I dont remember the persons name, as I told them to just re enter again, but didnt know they were permanently blocked until today. Maybe you could just reset my removed players list for this pond? Thanks!
Eriisa: The debate about who is right about her wishes has been fought already in court and it has been desided that it was her desire to be left to die in a situation like she is in.
The only debate left now is for the future and for others who may end up in, or are currently in, a similar situation.... But that is for another board, agreed :)
Did you know Eriisa that England (Stevie lives there) reports news differently than our media does in the United States? I think he is just curious why some name out of the blue would elicit so many responses. As grenv makes reference to by trying to put it in perspective, it not as big of a problem as a lot of other things going on in the world. It just has our media's attention right now. Kind of like the Michael Jackson trial here in Southern California.
Stevie! You've really not heard of her until now? The way it's portrayed in the media and then with Congress getting involved with it, you'd think it was the most important thing in the world. I don't mean to trivialize it, as it a subject that concerns everyone, but it does seem rather blown out of proportion. Perhaps it is so riveting because we can all imagine being in the position of any of the three parties to it.
Foxy Lady: Your pond is for Terris fight for life, problem is, she has been fighting for her right to die for years, and is finally getting her wish granted. We should be happy for her, she finally can leave this miserable life and meet her maker for eternal bliss :)
volant: Thanks volant, that was one of my hardest pond wins, the "endgame" with Vikings and fra was one headache bait, as Vikings named it.
*dancing to the swan song*
I believe it is planned that you can look at past moves - and I hope it is something that will happen sometime soon..... there is a lot of information there that I could use to help learn how others play the game which will in turn help my game.
Can I take the pond I am currently playing in and go back to review everyones betting habits so that I can consider there past bets in order to make a much better bet myself?
kitti: But also remember there are 100's of players who have not even won a pond, so are not even on the list - so even making the list is a great accomplisment!
Nice stats BBW. Only bad thing is i thought i was doing quite nicely but looking at the stats it looks like i play like crap :P .. 38 ponds and only one win, i really thought i had got more than one win and less ponds played.
Yea - I thought I was doing much better then I am (win 1 out of every 17 I enter) - I did not relize I have already completed that many ponds.
... and again, that does not include ponds which are still going (even if someone is out of the game). - sorry, not going to dig that deep to get those stats. :-)
Well I got to wondering on who is playing the "best" pond game so far, so I gathered some of my own stats. These "stats" are from completed games as of today - gathered from only those who have already won at least 1 pond. (So if a player is out of a pond but the pond is still going - that did not go into these stats.)
Name -- ponds completed -- wins -- win 1 pond out of XX ponds entered

Stevie: Well.. they have been promised, and many people play their games ultimatly for their ranking instead of just wins and non wins.
Honeylo is a good example of how almost anyone can get into the top 5, even higher, very easily but without any chance of actually winning. Which is probably a good strategy for anyone playing for rankings, and it makes it relatively easy for whomever is in first place when it ghets down to the final several people :)
