Fencer: so i got rid of the ads and switched to firefox - wow - the site has just become blazing fast!! .... hmmmm guess it wasnt the site slowing me down...thx for the tips....
FENCER: On the top of my main page it says I am not able to get action points and click to fix it. When I did this then I got the "active X" thing again, how come ??
oldhamgirl: I can be hardly unhelpful when there is no help to offer. As I have already said, BrainKing contains no ActiveX components, so whatever message you receive, it's not from us. Ergo, we are not the problem source, thus we cannot solve it.
ok if you want to be picky I have used it since it came out and today is the first day I have had a problem. No need for you to be so unhelpful, its not a criticism of YOUR site
oldhamgirl: Why do you use such a buggy browser as MS Internet Explorer 7 is? Try Firefox instead. Furthermore, there are no ActiveX controls on BrainKing because I hate this technology.
Ok let me try asking again. Everytime I have a move on this site, and this has only started today, why am I getting a pop up saying "click to run an active X on this webpage". It is driving me nuts.
thanks yes same here in the morning, it has happened once already, more in the evening here maybe when its busy, who knows. Now I have another problem if anyone can help me, all of a sudden, only on this game site, I keep getting a sign up about Active X, I have never got it before, help ???
oldhamgirl: i only am thrown out of the site about once every morning .. which also seems to be the time when fencer puts up the link to the brainking.info news
Fencer: Will be the current layout available once the new one can be used? I have 800x600 and I like to have all the information without a horizontal scrolling.
AbigailII: What do you mean "less games"? The amount of data is still the same, there is no reason to hide some games. About a horizontal scrolling - it's not necessary if you use at least 1024x768 screen resolution. Which should not be a problem, nowadays. There is no point to restrict ourselves to 800x600 only.
I've looked at the new page. All the information is there, at about the same place. I guess lots of people like the castle theme, but I'm not at all big on fluff. I do notice that NewGameList shows less games of the "games where it is my turn" list (which for me is by far the most important information on the page). And it requires horizontal scrolling where the current interface doesn't. That despite the new page using a smaller font (border line small for my taste).
I'd say that for looks, NewGameList wins. For usability, the current page wins.
Tulip: are you sure you havent already rolled the allowed number of times and its just time to click your selection on the board? i did that where i left a game after the last roll and came back to it to find no boxes - cause i had already rolled the allowed number...
