Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.
If you experience connection or speed problems with BrainKing, please visit Host Tracker and check "BrainKing.com" accessibility from various sites around the world. It may answer whether an issue is caused by BrainKing itself or your local network (or ISP provider).
No Bry, I just bought meself rook membership to add on to the few days left there were of knight membership. I don't know if it's all Rook now, or I might have some knight days sitting at the end.
tonyh: Nothing unless you go back to a page which is no longer valid. For example, a game page containing an old position. Firefox handles this situation by a forced reload but it doesn't work with IE.
Btw, as you can see, the interviews have been moved from BrainKing.info to this site. The reason is that I've created a new interview system which allows me to process and add new ones much faster and with several neat features.
Last call for questions for BAD BISHOP! I'm hoping to prepare his questions by this weekend, so if you have anything you'd like to ask him, send it to me!
jelly: For me, BK is much faster in Firefox than in IE. Like any other page.
pauloaguia: Don't use back buttons. It's the worst thing that could even happen to any web application developer.
switch to Opera. I use it and never had a problem... not to mention I can set the zoom level for the page and keep it that way, so that the board will allways fit in the screen.
One thing I have against firefox: whenever I use the back button the page is reloaded... I think it's a waste of bandwith and time
IE... well, My main complaint is that I can't have multiple tabs, besides from that never had any problem with it either (at BK that is).
Well, my experience with BK and Firefox is rather bad. I recently switched from IE to FF. In FF the pages load much slower than in IE not to mention reformatting of the columns. Especially when making moves, the difference is enormous. Actually I use IE for playing at Brainking and FF everywhere else. Is BK not optimized for FF or is it just me?
Recently, the images in my IE browser are not always displayed. For example, when I make a move in a dark chess, the board is not refreshed properly. I tried to refresh the page, but many of the images are displayed. I get a rex "x" instead of many squares on a board. The only workaround I found is to go to main page and open the same game from there.
Also, I noticed that the main page is loading forever, and eventually fails to load the firefox logo in the left-bottom corner.
Does anyone else experience the same thing? And no, I don't want to switch from IE to Firefox.
On my computer, I removed the key itself. That eliminated all my problems with it Slamdance. Unfortunately I'm not using my computer and have to carefull around that key. I always wonder why they put next to the "a" on a keyboard. If I wanted the capitals locked, I use a more remotely placed key like say up by the function keys then right next to letters that I type a lot. Anyway, assuming it's your computer, just pry the little bugger up and dispense it with alacrity to your nearest waste recepticle and enjoy Caps Lock free typing for now on. :)
That's right, I forgot that we could send the money to some of you guys here. That'd save on postage. I guess it won't do much for the exchange rate since we have to pay in Euros, or is there a dollar amount to join the site?
Here in the USA...regular money orders sent to members of customer service work just alittle faster...3 business days tops,so far for me...and very reliable.
Least ways that's what I do. Both times I've mailed them to the Czech Republic, they made it to Filip in less than a week. 80¢ postage gets it there from the United States. Make sure you use International Money Orders. Apparently the other kind aren't accepted at his bank without charging a fee. A large fee. The liquor store that I buy them at just charges 59¢. Right reasonable if you ask me, and it eliminates all the middlemen and snoopy credit people. I'm out $1.39 plus the envelope, but this way Fencer has the cash on hand and that seems like it works well. It does have the drawback of going through the mail, but this being a turn based site I'd think people would be used to waiting for their opponent to move. :)
I don't know about what you are going through with a cell phone.. I don't use a cell so am not too sure what the sms code is.. I think Fencer mentioned it was an international code.. I would try to go through paypal themselves.. give them a call perhaps there should be a 1-800 number listed somewhere.
as for if you have a visa or mastercard.. it seemed fairly easy on my end.. as far as the little surcharge.. I didn't mind.. it really isn't all that expensive anyway.. Heck.. I would spend way more going out just one night.. then the fee here..
And I am entitled to have some entertainment.. like everyone else is..
How hard would be to accept plain old VISA or Mastercard like thousands of business's do worldwide? There are too many middlemen and hoops to jump though here. JMO
Gypsy: Are you sure you entered your correct cell phone number, including the international code?
If so, try to contact Moneybookers customer service.
I know their SMS confirmation system works bad for people outside European Union but I can hardly do anything with it.
This link goes to Project Xanadu. Perhaps you've typed it wrong? I wouldn't mind having the link for a money exchange service either. Fencer gave me one awhile back. I'll see if I can find it. I did. It appears that you mistyped the link, put a "u" where you meant to put an "e".
They are in Eur, so if you need to know how much it cost in a different currency, you can use http://www.xu.com to convert what the price will be. (Or ask for more help here, plenty of people willing to help.)
