Fencer And new games again 1. September 2004, 09:45:31
Modified by Fencer (1. September 2004, 10:17:43)
BrainKing brings 3 new games - Jarmo, Alquerque and Froglet. My thanks go to white for those little froggies and Sinay for boards of Jarmo and Alquerque. Yes, I know that boards for Jarmo and Alquerque are too big, I will add smaller ones soon.
Besides, lots of bugs was fixed (!!!!!e.g. multiple jumps in Czech Checkers!!!!!) and added several improvements.
Can I suggest that when rules are changed for any games, that they be announced somewhere other then in one game messageboard? Maybe like in Server news.
I just found out today while reading the Czech Checkers message board about an important rule change that effects most checker varent games which would alter the way I would play the game a lot, and the rule change was made on Sept 1st!
Anyway, Just a suggestion that any rule change for any game should be announced in System News - even if it effects a few users, I believe it is important enough to announce.
I dont think so. Then Fencer might as well just shut down the site. Pawns are important to the site as far as having more peopleto play. Also if you dont give someone a chance to play for free at the beginning how will they get a chance to see how good this site is? Besides there are several who cant afford to pay for a membership due any number of circumstances. I was a pawn for a long time too. However now I am able to afford membership, I bought a membership through December 2005 plus have helped a couple of others attain a membership as well. I do beleive that 20 games and unlimited moves is more than generous when compared to IYT who has only 25 moves a day for non paying members. I think we could limit the number of moves per day on pawns though. Maybe unlimited moves for the first 60 days and then after that limit them to 50 moves a day. 50 moves for many is still a lot of moves per day.I would be willing to bet the average pawn carries 10-12 games so that would average out to 4-5 moves per game per day. Not too bad.
Grampa AD, I will not remove posts just because you happen to disagree with them, no matter how many private messages you send me. (Which, by the way, I can't reply to privately since you have me on enemies. If you insist on sending me messages like that, I'll have to place you on enemies too)
LongJohns post was controversial, but it is a point that has been raised before and I don't see that it is any different than other occasions where the pawn (and rook/knight) membership has been discussed. There is only one part of that post that I think could be found offensive which I will edit.
However, there are a lot of other posts which have been made in the last 2 days which I consider to have crossed the line. Its better to make your point without insults, then your post will have a chance of staying :o) I don't like editing posts but I will now to keep the peace of this board and to keep it on topic.
Stevie, there is nobody on hide as far as I can see. Nev Nake, thank you for editing your post.
oh gosh, the red numbers are starting on here now LOL Ill have to look hard to find who i have on hide on this board.......mmmmmm only 1. must be [edited] LOL
yes Stevie definately sarcasm..
***Interesting though that she pointed out that Kevin did sponsor her first membership. Makes me see him in a different light supporting folk less fortunate than most of us. ***
I guess i did put it wrong...I actually won the membership in a competition that Kevin ran, I wasn't one of the "less fortunate"
as LongJohns says.
The post below of LJ's is instulting and off-topic. Let's hope the moderators do the right thing and remove it. It's not LJ's business if Fencer wants to allow for pawn memberships. It's no ones. Pawns are welcomed here and that's the way it's always been.
typical answer from a person who obviously intends to live this life getting far more than giving.
Dont come around this neck of the woods at christmas time please LOL
If you want to take away the things the Pawns already have, then why not scrap the whole thing? It's pointless to force someone to do something they don't want to do.
The reason I say 'scrap the whole thing' is because that would be the ultimate fate of it anyway. The Rich would win, everyone would be happy, and all of us who are here just to have fun will be gone.
I would like to propose a poll
Should pawns [edited] be allowed to post on the boards?
My vote would be no. Dont get me wrong, I love pawns LOL But not being able to post would force more of them into deciding to purchase membership hence aiding all of us in the long run.
Lets all us members stop carrying the weak. They have unlimited moves per day in 20 games for free, that is already more than most sites offer. If they want to post, pay up
What the heck did I say that was political???
She said it would be nice to see democracy here again.... I simply asked when it was a democracy before. Nothing to do with politics, Geez whiz...
Thats true Harley. It was a misunderstanding. Bernices post smacked of sarcasm to me.... and I have seen her use it before.
I dont know where Whisper got the wild hair.... but I would appreciate it if you would stay off my back, I have never said anything to you or about you.
Ellie, if you would look, I was the first person to congratulate Kevin, and wish him luck.
This was just a misunderstanding that could maybe have been dealt with in a slightly better way. There is no need for insults - I think it would be a nice gesture if some of these posts were edited. (Preferably not by me!)
I have no idea what you are talking about?
I wasnt trashing anyone and it WAS a nice thing Kevin did for BerniceC. I know, I have sponsored some people also.
i don't understand how you get away with trashing bernice or anyone on this bd., and Kevin is a really nice person.
i thought this bd was about the site, not your hangups.
Yes I have to agree that it did seem that Bernie was being sarcastic. It is certainly how I read it, kind of like rubbing it in.
Interesting though that she pointed out that Kevin did sponsor her first membership. Makes me see him in a different light supporting folk less fortunate than most of us.
Good job Kevin.
