Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.
If you experience connection or speed problems with BrainKing, please visit Host Tracker and check "BrainKing.com" accessibility from various sites around the world. It may answer whether an issue is caused by BrainKing itself or your local network (or ISP provider).
From the time I registered on this site the setting was always set to a light/white ground. What the heck has happened since is beyond me. I finally had to re-set to a dark background just to be able to read without extra-special, night-vision glasses! Something is wrong somewhere and I never changed a thing until last night when all the other members suggestions came in.
This weekend I intend to put together his interview, so if you can think of ANY question you would like to see in the interview, please send it to me! We've had some great questions so far, and the more the merrier! So get your thinking caps on, and send me your questions for BIG BAD WOLF!
while you're looking at new servers, i might suggest you look at Mac OS X Server, if brainking could be run on it (i don't know if it could). i only think of it because it can do cool, staff-reducing things like page an admin if it goes down and stuff like that. i don't know if you'd want that, but if it sounds appealing, it does exist...
and if i come into any money soon (which it's possible that i may, a little) i'll send some your way. :)
Heh heh :-) Why does it always happen when we are sleeping?
The image server seems to show a little peculiar behaviour but it's nothing rare and unexpected. A simple restart will fix it, when Liquid is online.
We don't have money for a fail-safe system. We also don't have money to hire people to monitor the site 24 hours a day. However, we offer several ways how to contribute, at least for a new database server. Who really wants to help and not only talk about it, helps. It's not mandatory, of course. But it's an option for everyone.
heehee! well, neither have i (though i think i could have - it might have been more a Word thing than a Windows-specific thing), but i've seen similar aberrations, and read a bug report about that very one (give or take the hot and horny part). :D
lol - that's right! :D and sometime next year the text of the hot and horny love letter you thought you deleted will show up in the middle of the resume you just emailed to a hundred prospective employers... :D
i've seen a few games - the smalles amazons graphics, the smallest old-checkers pieces (pawn and king only), largest two new-checkers pieces, battleboats graphics, various other miscellaneous pictures... (there's likely more).
and for any who haven't noticed, it now seems to be Espionage's turn to display question marks or Xes or whatever your system displays in lieu of graphics it can't display. :)
rofl plaintiger :-)
Yes, but if you were on windows, it would say "Are you sure you want to delete this file?" and then you say "Yes" and then it would go to the recycle bin, and then press delete again and it would say "Are you sure you want to delete this file?" and then you press "yes" again, and your file is STILL not permanently gone! :-) lol
no, actually, if you buy a Macintosh and press delete, the Macintosh will say "are you sure you want to trash all your hard work without saving it first?". and if you then say "yes" and then say "whoops," you have no-one to blame but yourself. :)
and if you buy a Macintosh, you won't get viruses (or popup windows), you can slap in a TV tuner card and have your TV right there, and like ScarletRose said, a wireless keyboard and mouse'll have you on your comfy couch in no time. and if you're really attached to any Windows applications, there's software that'll let you run that too.
Why not get a wireless keyboard then.. or wireless mouse.. hahaha
and viruses.. you don't get.. unless you foolishly open something you shouldn't.. If you know how to protect against viruses.. such as firewalls.. well then.. you don't have probbies.. haha..
And with puter .. peeps can chat together and even share webcamming.. :)
I agree with both of you. There are a lot of things webtv cant do...including getting a virus :)
Like Rod said, I enjoy being on my couch or recliner while playing on the web. When I use a computer I get antsy and uncomfortable after about a half hour in that chair and desk. There are also many thing the webt can do that a computer cant , mostly tv related, but I love tv as well :)
Not necesarilly. Even if I had a computer, I would still surf the web with my WebTV. I do not want to be stuck sitting at a desk while I'm playing my games. I prefer sitting on my couch with the webtv remote control..
Of course, a lap top would solve that! :-D
The numbers on the espionage pieces are impossible for us to see on webtv (or i should say MOST of us probably)... the sizes are a little different, but not enough to easilly tell them apart..
I was looking forward to playing it!
but then, if one's going to have HDTV, i guess one might as well buy a computer while one's out shopping, huh? :D having HDTV and webtv would be kind of like having a beverly hills mansion with an inflatable kiddie pool in the back yard. :)
Not being able to see some of the smaller, more detailed pieces very clearly (the frogs, and the espionage pieces) is not really related to webtv itself, but the fact that a television screen has a much lower resolution than a computer monitor.
At least froglet is still playable. I find Espionage to be completely unplayable on a TV. :-(
yeah, I just had a problem with the mail link beside my friends was just a big empty box, but the link still worked. I think there is some sort of graphic loading problem going on, as I had lots of problems yesterday too. But the color thing is not a problem here :)
About a week ago or so, Fencer moved most graphics to it's own server, or to a different part of the server, or something (moved it so they would load faster) - Anyway, I think the problem is with the image server where it's not loading all the graphics correctly all the time. I'm sure once Fencer/Liquid check it out that will be back to normal.
well, i know it's not pleasant to hear it, but if nobody else is experiencing the problem, it's not likely to be an issue with the site.
if you're using webtv, i'd be suspicious of that. i know imupchucking isn't having the problem, so maybe it has to do with the model or age of your tv or something...but i've recently become friends with a webtv user and She says the frogs in Froglet look like little tied bags - they don't have any faces - and She can hardly tell one piece from another in Espionage, and She can't get to 80 percent of the websites i send Her the URLs to because webtv just can't handle them...so i get the impression the whole webtv system is just very horky and ill-behaved and it just up and does stuff like you're describing sometimes.
