Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.
If you experience connection or speed problems with BrainKing, please visit Host Tracker and check "BrainKing.com" accessibility from various sites around the world. It may answer whether an issue is caused by BrainKing itself or your local network (or ISP provider).
aaru: Right, that's a bug. Not a big one. No, it's not possible to transfer messages, at least not now. Maybe later. The problem is that the internal structure is too different from the former one, so I would have to write a converting script first.
Information from the left column: Tournaments (230) Tournaments page, information from the top: open (234) The actual number of available tournaments: 203 (4x50 + 3)
Fencer: your Host Tracker told me nothing....I saw plenty of UK, USA and Ukraine etc, but absolutely nothing to say australia.....and it is still damn slow. May I ask....Is it EVER your fault, or is it always "us"
Bernice: I know you did. Does that mean you're accusing Fencer of specifically providing bad service to Australia?
My point is, if it works in the US, UK, and Ukraine it's not the site's problem, there's something beyond their control that is slowing things down for you.
Bernice: I'm sorry I attacked you personally, I just get really sick of people complaining to Fencer about the site being slow. He's obviously not doing it intentionally, and by now he knows that people have problems and has done all he could to try figure out the problem. Reiterating the problem every week or 2 is not going to make anything better.
nodnarbo: I dont usually have speed problems and only asked if anybody else was. I have no idea how the damned "Host Tracker" works either, and have found to be able to get a serious answer on here is like flying to the moon as we are treated as I D 10 T's. thanks anyway.
Fencer: I'm French and my main page is all in french except : " Events ". So, I give you the translation : " Evénements " if you want to write it in french.... Thank you.
Pedro Martínez: I think Marfitalu has left this site because last time he was here was in June and if rabbitoid makes translations, not sure he can modify a text on a main page.
Fencer: So, I assume this Event box is for those people who found that sort of message annoying. So, will they delete themselves after a certain amount of time? Or after the # in the box reaches a certain point?
I personally don't care, because I'm one of the weirdos who reads all those messages. (Usually because I like to click on my graph and remind my self how I'm doing, and that sort of thing). But for those who don't like the messages anyway, it seems at first glance that it's just a separate box that will get a gradually higher red number after it. SO, I'm just curious.
Bernice: It's not our fault that you don't take serious answers seriously. Most likely because your point of view is too selfish to see it a little globally.
Anyway, I give you an explanation. The purpose of Host Tracker is not to measure a connection speed from every single country of the world, but to find out if a temporary speed issue is caused by BrainKing itself (all nodes would show a big latency) or your local ISP/computer/router/network/anything (all but 1 or 2 nodes are performing good). Even you should be able to understand that it would be hardly possible to perform a speed or throughput benchmark from everywhere, so whether the test lists Australia or not is pointless. The global result is the only thing that counts.
Fencer: I am sure i am not the only one who has created folders in the Message box, for Team results, Tournament results etc...which i then collate at the end of the month and post in the Fellowship
Would it be possible to make the folders we have created in our Message box ALSO be available in the new Events box?? I guess the only other option would be create new folders in the Events box, though the is no option there for it yet, though then i guess people would ask about moving message between the 2 (Message & Events box's).
I think all folders accessed from both would be best if possible
MadMonkey: Messages and events cannot be mixed because their internal structure is not mutually compatible. I would have to write a script that converts old system messages (from Message Box) to current Events but I am not sure if it is worth the effort. You can still archive tournament results in your Message Box and keep new system events in the Events page. Unless you want to do a yearly statistics, it should not be a big problem.
Anyway, I can create folders for Events, it won't be a big problem.
Fencer: hmmmm you say You can still archive tournament results in your Message Box, well i can not. The last couple of Team & normal Tournament finished messages (from this morning) have gone to the Events folder
Looking at it again i think just Folders for the Events page would be better
Fencer: I'm one of those who hate all the "system" messages, but I'm also lazy/don't have a lot of extra time - so I have TONS of Message box messages I need to go through and delete.
Any way to sort the message box by subject or from? I would make grouping and mass deleting a lot of message.
coan.net: It could be done. Until then, you can use the "show this user's messages" filter to list (and delete) all messages from the particular user. Or if you want to clear ALL system messages from your message box, just let me know and I will do it in the database, it should be much faster.
Fencer: I also received the 100 tournaments achievement, but in the message it appeared 0/100 (althoughin the achievements page it shows 100/500, for the 500 achievement, and I actually got the 100 as I should)
Never mind, a simple restart later, and we're good to go. --------------------------- For some reason the images in this game won't load. Dice Chess 10x10 (Somelaughs2 vs. nodnarbo) I'm playing other games fine though, and the page loading time doesn't seem to be any slower. I'm wondering if the games I am playing have the images cached on my computer, is anyone else having problems?
