Board for everybody who is interested in BrainKing itself, its structure, features and future.
If you experience connection or speed problems with BrainKing, please visit Host Tracker and check "BrainKing.com" accessibility from various sites around the world. It may answer whether an issue is caused by BrainKing itself or your local network (or ISP provider).
I created a variant of chess that is played like soccer, Soccer Chess is the name, if anyone is interested in playing this game or know their rules, contact me by Brian King so we play by email. I can tell since the game does not have the luck factor, such as chess.
Iamon lyme: You are doing something wrong then. The board has NO restrictions. You have NO restrictions. There hasn't been an issue SINCE THAT DAY. I don't know what else you need to be told.
happyjuggler0: that occured to me too, but I don't think I did that. There are only three buttons to look at, send preview and search, and the send button is directly below the writing field. I make mistakes, but I doubt I made the same mistake repeatedly over the course of an entire week.
Vikings: Not so. I attempted to post messages over the course of at least one week. I couldn't have been on temporary standby all of that time, except by extraordinarily repeated coincidences. No matter when I tried to get a message on the board it wouldn't happen, at the same time other ppl were able to post. I don't mean to belabor the point, I'm ready to move on, but frankly I have a hard time believing any of this. For whatever reason it happened I will move on and let it go.
Iamon lyme: there was never any post of yours to approve at that time, and by checking the date and time of your questioning the post, the problem with the board was the night before your post and already back to normal by the time you said that you posted, something else must have happened. I approved every post (some with editing) with the exception of one. Usually when a board is changed, the post slow down dramaticly and since you rarely post to that board, I assure you that I would have remembered it.
rod03801: Fair enough. I'll scroll back to see if my posts were approved or not, and will not complain about it one way or the other. I'm done with this.
Iamon lyme: As I believe has been explained. There was trouble going on, on the board. The moderator of the board chose to put ALL posts on approval status. So that meant ANYone who posted, would not be seen, until a moderator checked the post and approved it.
As has also been stated, it had NOTHING to do with you.
The status is now back to normal, and it is time to move on.
Vikings: Does that mean everyone needs to perstonally ask to get back on? The same thing happened to me last week. I'm not really bothered by this except for the fact that I haven't done anything at that board since my last message posted on May the 24th, and didn't know I would be wasting precious time and thought put into writing just to see nothing happen. My window of opportunity for doing anything here is very small. Is there any way to inform someone before trying to do something they can't do? I'm not trying to flame you, I'm just trying to explain my frustration over this.
Iamon lyme: It had nothing to do with you, multiple people were making personal insulting post so everybody was put on (post must be approved) status to put a stop to it.
Thanks for the fast response, but I'm still puzzled as to why anyone would think my posts need to be monitored. If I've been off topic it's only because I've responded to someone elses post. If someone wants to take pot shots at my religion it only seems fair for me to be able to respond. Compared to what I've already seen there, my posts can hardly be called inflamitory. I was banned from a board at another site many years ago, for no other reason than my point of view disturbed too many people.. in other words, I didn't agree with the majority of people writing to that board. The only problem I've experienced here is someone writing lewd and insulting pms, so I blocked her from contacting me again.. No problem with that, I've learned that sort of thing goes with the territory. Still, I am curious to know what anyone has to worry about me writing to a politics boards.
I've tried to post messages at the politics board but nothing happens. The first time it happened I assumed it was a glitch, or maybe I clicked on the wrong button. If this message doesn't go through then I'll know something is definitely wrong. Can anyone explain why I can't write to a board I was able to write to before this happened?
DeaD man WalkiN: This was talked about on the www.brainking.info site :

As we have announced in the Server News, BrainKing is currently under a process of optimization and tuning, in order to improve the overall performance and response time, mostly by rewriting certain functions that cause too much CPU load. There is nothing to worry about - everything is working OK and many players will probably notice no important changes. Anyway, I would like to clarify what exactly has been modified and why:
Maximum number of games shown in one list has been reduced to 100. The reason is obvious - some people, who are quite reckless in joining more tournaments than they can handle, end up with thousands of started games and it is neither logical nor wise to display all of them at once. 10 years ago, when BrainKing had been launched, we didn't expect that someone would start more than a couple of hundreds games, but since the reality is far too different, time has come to do something about it. It means that if a player has more than 100 games to play, only the first 100 would be displayed, along with links to other pages containing the rest.
Game lists are sorted by time left and it is no longer possible to change the column to sort by. After doing a lot of tests and optimizations, it turned out to be the most effective solution, regarding the site speed and fair user policy. I know that some people will probably miss the feature to sort games by, for instance, opponent names, but a similar result can be easily achieved by using the opponent and game type filter above the game list. The same filter has been added to user profiles where all started games of the particular player can be found.
I have tried 10s of times to switch (Game, Event, Opponent, Your color, Move and Time left). On the main try to switch the way U get games and pls, tell me how U did it.. thxs for U time and any help...
This is a pity. I hoped I might get my first brains this way: 1. create a tourney with brains price bougt with money 2. choose the games I am best in for a random game tournament. 3. sign up myself and win
MadMonkey: It doesn't matter how dictionary.com or any other website defines “gambling” … it does matter, however, how “gambling” is defined by/under the applicable legislation…
Fencer: Crazy.... I guess on Pogo, when you spend Gems, that is it they are spent. The same as here if we were just going to use Brains in the shop to buy a shirt or mug, that would be OK.
Surely there must be a way around this
It must come down to how they define the word gamble, and looking at dictionary.com it is only a gamble if there is a element of chance involved (i.e. Toss of a coin OR Roll of a Dice)...So if we stick to Chess & Go we are OK
MadMonkey: I can hardly explain what I don't understand myself. But my guess is that you can use Brains to pay for tournament fees in order to win more Brains, so it is probably considered as gambling, although there is no way to change Brains back to real money. Don't ask me what sort of moron came with this ridiculous conclusion.
Fencer: Could you explain why that is please ? Surely there is no difference between buying Brains on here OR Gems on Pogo....they are both used as site currencies....well so i would say
rod03801: I am afraid not. Some companies (PayPal) seem to be too paranoid to understand that it is not a gambling. There is no point to fight a red tape.
How to create a free prize tournament? Can everybody do this? Say the winner is to receive brains; are they detracted from thre creator's brains account or can they be bought with money?
MadMonkey: You could start with 1 day per move - and then give a bonus of say 1 day - and then put the MAX at something like 4 or 5 days. That way people would have to play a lot of first, but if they play quickly - can store up to 4 or 5 days
MadMonkey: If you want really quick FC tournament from the start, you should set starting time to say, 2 days or so. It depends on time bonus per move.
I want to set a fast Fischer's clock Tournament up. Now i do not think i have ever set one of these in all my years here lol
I want to start this in 2 days, and want the first few moves played as quick as possible (without getting silly lol)
After a week or so i do not care how long it goes on for (within reason)....i bet you are all thinking What an odd Tournament, Monkey has finally lost it lol
Anyway, anyone any ideas (or advice) as to a time set up ? (Time: Bonus: Limit: )
fukuhara: They're visible only in mode "castle" In other modes you can change easily by modifying the "/en/" in the current page link to your favourite language code. It sticks when you then click on things.
Marshmud: Yes, I do " Move " and " stay here " as you say, but when I come back on the main page after that, my filter has disappeared. I'd like to see it again. So, I totally agree with Rod who said : " ..... IF the page would stay filtered until you tell it not to. " The filter disappears when you choose : " Move and stay here ". What a pity !
