He is already finding out that great speeches and great platitudes and great promises, and being the first black president are all nice, and might get you elected, but the reality is that he will be able to do nothing special, either good or bad, He will not fulfill most of his promises, and he will be another average Joe president, despite the best efforts of the media and hollywood to make it otherwise.

It sounds like something from the Art of War. And a basic strategy towards peace.
Right, except when our enemy is basically hopeless and desperate due to living under brutal dictatorships and the like, we are not allowed to "force" our life on them to help them achieve a society that breeds hope and prosperity, thereby ending their desperate desire to be our enemy!!
We are supposed to just allow them to breed more and more desperate hopeless future terrorists, and do nothing but spend our money time and other resources to feed them when they get hungry!
题目: Re:We need to understand the enemy and why they are mad and try to find common ground blah blah blah
Czuch: No, not force life.... Give them the choice to be what they want, with their worries and concerns talked about and allow them to live. Otherwise nothing changes, you might get a short break, but the same problems will still be there.
For example, why are we here at this point? What caused the current situation to start in the first place decades ago? Why hasn't anything been done by the international community to break up the situation before hand, who are the ones helping keeping a solution from been made.

Give them the choice to be what they want,
Well isnt that called democracy???? Do you really believe that the only reason the Iraqis have formed a new government and held free elections etc is because the US forced them into it?

Artful Dodger: W're on the same page on this topic,I know the guy you're speaking of,I've heard him many times but his names escapes me.It really turned my stomach when he mentioned how SOME Arab schools teach young children hate filled anti Jewish songs, they are raised to hate from infancy, the cycle must end!
题目: Re:We need to understand the enemy and why they are mad and try to find common ground blah blah blah
Artful Dodger: I guess under your real world we'd still be fighting in Northern Ireland, instead of as happened in the real REAL world where people and politicians talked and came to a peace agreement which resulted in the Loyalists and the IRA disarming and now sorting their difference out in talks and government.
Decades of hate and fighting sorted, terrorists just now normal citizens no longer feeling the need to kill thanks to talk.
题目: Re:We need to understand the enemy and why they are mad and try to find common ground blah blah blah
Czuch: Partly yes... many still ain't sure, it's a bit difficult to say Iraq has a true democracy when the gun is still used to control so much of daily life.
History sorta says that a true democracy takes years to get into place, and the possibility of a civil war is quite high.
题目: Re:We need to understand the enemy and why they are mad and try to find common ground blah blah blah
Jim Dandy: Actually I know a story regarding something on those lines....
I have an aunt who lives in Ireland, and my parents from time to time go over and visit her on holiday. One day my parents ended up in a pub to have a spot of lunch and a drink, it turned out though that there was a gathering of certain activists on the IRA side having a chat and discussing things that were private and especially not for the ears of English folk. So... The Pub owner said sorry to my parents and that unfortunately they couldn't actually be in the pub at that time. He also said that the pub across the road was a nice pub and as a matter of apology to tell the landlord he had sent them and that the first drink was to be on him.

Artful Dodger: ..."On the other hand, the Israelis recognized the PLO and not the rights of the Palestinians, and accepted the existence of a Palestinian people (for the time being) as an ethnic minority and not as a people with national rights. For some this seemed as a great victory, but for others it was clear that the PLO leadership was more preoccupied with form rather than content.
As matters stand now, the PLO gave up its right to a free Palestine. It switched camp: it is not opposing imperialism anymore. In return, the Palestinians were acknowledged as an ethnic minority with no political rights, and THE ARAB REGIMES COULD WASH THEIR HANDS OF ANY PAN ARAB RESPONSIBLITY TOWARDS PALESTINE....
Apples and oranges? Both fighting another religion, both fighting for the end of occupation by a 'foreign' country, both wars so much based on old hates, fences, border guards, car bombs, mortars, assasinations... and a supposed civilised country giving aid to those who would kill terrorist supporters and activists in the style of info on who and where they are, as opposed to a foreign country blocking international intervention causing the war to continue leading to the death of both friendly and hostile people.
And ahhh yes... The USA supplying money and arms free (through private citizens) to the IRA, and to Israel supplying guns through the government allowing weapons contracts.
And btw.... whatever happened to compliance of security council resoloution 242 and the compliance of it?

Artful Dodger: Oh come on
I'm a pretty open minded guy,The Drudge Report is my launch page, but Coulter is off the rails nutty compared to both Huffinton's page or personal outlook
Tuesday: agree that most parents are affraid to disipline....ya know,my parents never had to spank me...all it took was "the look" with me,lol....but I KNEW that if I acted up or stepped out of line, there WAS a consiquince (sp) to my actions...A good healthy fear of parents,I think can be a good thing...parents today try to nogotiate with kids....bullcrap,they are a kid,you are the parent, period.
Tuesday: I was swatted one time...but no,never spanked....never had to with me,lol...that look and OMG if Daddy pointed his finger at me!!! AHHHHH! run for the hills! lol really tho...I tested Mom one time in the store...If I acted up,she would tell me settle down or we are leaving the store....and I did always settle down...one time I thought,HA! no we wont leave! guess who was takin out of the buggy and marched right out of the store?? She left the buggy right there in the middle the the aisle way..it was K-Mart..I remember that! never again did I test her on that one!!
I bet Chuck comes on here and says Liberals started the discipline scare , just like the ink color change.
hahahah... ive been too busy to comment lately but have been reading most everything.....
Well, they did start all that crap, along with no keeping score in ball games etc....
What I think though is that you, and many like you are not really true liberals at all, you just have been fed too much crap about what a conservative is... helping big bad oil companies, and not looking out for the little guy etc.... but I think the more you are educated about what liberals really stand for and what conservatives really stand for, you will realize that you have way more in common with conservatives than you do liberals, and that you are really a closet conservative, but you just dont know it yet!
Like I said before... find neil Boortz on the radio/internet, and listen to him at work for a couple of weeks, and I bet you find yourself thinking how logical and how many times you find yourself agreeing with what he is saying, and it will change the way you look at the world, and you will realize that you have way more in common with conservatism than you ever thought!
Czuch: you keep wanting to "lump" everyone...liberal OR conservative...I am really niether...I think most people are idiots...thats why I work with animals.... I agree with Tuesday..people SHOULD be held responsible for their own actions,I think prayer SHOULD be back in school too...maybe I wouldn't pray to they same God you did,and maybe you wouldn't pray at all,but it would be owr own free choices....not like Tuesday would be shouting the Lord's prayer in the face of an athiest, and nor should they scream back God doesn't exsist....if everyone just silently did their own thing...why should it matter...who is it hurting...taking scores out of games is just rediculios....kids SHOULD want to win,not just slide by.If I have a kid that wanted to "slide by" and not work to achieve greater things,I would toss him into a hole somewhere. Where the hell am I going with this post? I dunno,I am still medicated,lol....anywho..I THINK my point was going to be that you are the one that is trying to lump libs and conservs...sometimes people just dont fit into your lil molds..if that wasn't the point I was trying to make, let me get off these pills and then I will make it :)
