If you're interested in Gothic C, Extinction C, Crazy Screen C, Anti C, or other CVs, sign up for the Winter 2004 Chess Variants Congress. Closing date is January 10.
Sign-ups have closed for A Few of My Favourite Things. I'll probably start the tournament later today or tomorrow.
Meanwhile, sign-ups have begun for the Brotherly Love duo. This is two separate tournaments, one for beginners (BKR under 2000 or unrated), and one for advanced players (BKR 2000 and up, no unrated players), and include all games.
Sorry Lythande ... the "n" jumped off the keyboard at the wrong time ... that should have been "no good", but I will be thinking of you all. (I think sLaMMie'S new fellowship has effected my keyboard sUmTiNk chronic ... LOL)
I the first game of his I looked at (with you Blue) he has until jan 27 to make his next move. Weekend days don't count so it's 21 days per move, only counting 5 days a week. That is the only down side of being a pawn, only one tournament at a time. If you ever decide to upgrade, that is no longer a problem. I have about 400 games going right now in at least 75 different tournaments.
BlueM: The problem is that the time per move in that tournament is 21 (plus any vacation days people may have). It is also Xmas & New Year. I think it could be a long wait for you.
I suggest next time you pick a competition with a shorter move time.
Interesting how each section has one player that hasn't completed any games .... while the majority of the tourney has been completed .... is this the same person? or some kind of computerized player ??? what gives ?? awful suspicious to say the least !!
When a player who starts out unrated, but before the tournament starts - goes OVER the rating limit, they will STAY in the tournament by default.
Now what I do when I run (for example 1500 & under) tournaments, before the tournament actually starts, as tournament creator - I go and remove anyone who is then over the limit that was setup (unless it's not by much - like BKR 1505, etc...) but it is up to the tournament creator if they want them to stay or not.
Whispers, I was thinking of upping that to 1800.. Fencer (who was first to join up - Thank you!! :) started as unrated when he signed, but now shows at ~1799, which is over-limit. Which brings up a question. If those who are already signed break the BKR limit before the games start, what happens to those players?
Here. The signups are due to close midnight New Year's Eve (my time - EST - GMT -0500), which to clarify is the midnight -preceding- New Year's Eve. :) I'll start the tourney after the holidays so everyone can sober up. :) Especially one more for Tank Battle so that game can be included.
You have the rest of the year to sign up for the first Year 2004 tournaments! (Which means you only have a few more days!) The tournaments will start on january 1st, 2004 (or December 31, 2004 - depending on what time zone you are on) There is alreayd a GREAT turnout of players, but more are welcome!
