BerniceC: It doesn't apply to ponds because nothing like prize ponds had been officially defined. Moreover, ponds are usually finished much faster than tournaments so there is a less chance the prize provider would disappear before the winner is determined :-)
Fencer: Does that mean that I can't run anymore of my prize tournaments for the ponds?
I have a fathers day one due to start in august, please let me know so I can cancel it if necessary :(
I might add that I have run about 6-7 prizes tourneys and have honoured all promises :)
EdTrice: Then I cannot guarantee the key would be really sent after the winner is determined. Due to past experiences with some prize tournaments where the prize was not provided, I must have the prize prepared before the tourney starts. I mean, a fully working copy of Vortex which I'll be able to send to the winner and he'll be able to install it and use it with no further problems. Of course, I must be granted a right to do such things with a licenced software.
EdTrice: Maybe it is because Fencer cannot guarantee the prize so he therefore cannot allow it to start?
I would suggest the easiest solution is to send Fencer the key and he can then send it to the winner and therefore your tournament can officially start as a "Prize Tournament" That way everyone would be happy.
Given that the prize is easily bestowed, why will the tournament still not start?
I have emailed Fencer but have no reply. There is no "cash" for this event, just a software key, which will only work on one machine, the machine of the winner.
By definition (must play at least ten different games), pawns are excluded. Pawns are only allowed one tournament game at a time (can't play in two tournaments or even two different games within the same tournament). If you want to have an all rooks tourney, that's fine. Getting DQ'd by a rule that was added after I had successfully entered is pretty bush league, though.
Well - She did it. She won at least one of my tournaments. Awesome job Partica on winning the tourny and only losing one game total in the final round.
Check it out BK - Congrats to Partica for winning...
Need more participants for the Beginners Tablut #3, due to start on Monday! My BKR has risen above 1500, although I registered when it was much lower. As the system will not automatically kick me I think it only fair that I remove myself - I will do this if more than the minimum people are registered.
I'm glad you asked A Raingutter Regatta is a boat race using small hand-built boats with sails. The boats are placed in a raingutter and the competitors act as the wind source by blowing the boat from one end of the gutter to the other Here are some real life pictures of a Raingutter Regatta event.
The Campfire, a brand new fellowship, is holding it's first tournament, Raingutter Regatta #1. Since it's difficult to get us all together on such short notice (much less taking time to build all those little boats), we are simply including all BrainKing naval tactics games in our tournament. So if you like playing Battleboats, Dark Battle Boats, or Battle Boats Plus, please stop by The Campfire and sign up!
ClayNashvilleTn: not impossible when you are a new player at the game on here .. i somehow won my first 4 games of swap five in line .. placing me at #1 ... i could have joined a low level tournament .. then play my first 4 games .. and be way out of limit
(dont worry i am down to earth again i lost my other 2 games :))
i think the hitmans main point was that unrated people maybe signing up and then before the tournaments starts they might have won all four games and have a very high rating ...because the system will not then boot them out for being over the limit
yes it does .. but i was around 2100 at that time ... so as soon as i was above 2100 i signed up ... i would finish some more games before the tournament started .. and drop below 2100
so i would be below the minimum when the tournament started
hi all. me also i signed up for a game with max-bkr. the problem were that during the tournament i got 200 points over the BKR-maximum. so........ :-))))
THE HIT MAN: the tournaments starting time arent checcked every minute, so it can show minus a couple of minutes before it starts .. i think this wont be longer than 10 minutes though (i think the starting times are checked every 10 minutes)
Sorry. But in my Tournaments if you don;t enter in 10 games or more you are going to be removed.Because they are most games WON TOURNAMENTS with prizes.Hopefully this is going to resolve the problems.Due to all BKR ratings
Sence I have had tournaments, I:ve been watching them.I"ve seen ppl sigh in when there is minus time showing left on them. That is going to be very hard for me to control my next tournament.
furbster: I agree, the system should not let you sign up if you are over 1500 (or whatever the limit is) and it should check again when it starts. This should be done automatically.
BIG BAD WOLF: I like that way of handling it. If a player is normally just under 1500 and happens to win three games in a row right before the tournament, an automatic system would knock him out even though he may be back under 1500 after three more games.
I know for any of my "tournament for dummies" for players rated 1500 or below, about a day or so before the tournament starts, I actually go through manually and kick out anyone who is way above 1500. (If someone now has 1525 or something close I usually let them stay - but if it's like 1700, then they are gone.)
But even then, some are unrated and even within hours of it starting they can shot from unrated to 2100.
