grenv: Actually, if the code is acting as intended, that is the exact definition of bug free code! Like Fencer said, just because it allows you to perform a move against the official rules of backgammon doesn't make it a bug - it makes it a missing or unimplemented feature or rule.
You could use that cube in all backgammon variations. I am sure most backgammon enthusists would concer backgammon matches without a double cube is not really backgammon at all.
I think a doubling cube which has been asked about in the past would be a great addition to multiple game matches. Obviously in single game matches it makes no sense. I would be more inclined to play multiple game matches if the doubling cube was put into play here at brainking. It adds more strategy to backgammon matches as well.
It's probably been brought up before, but, would it be possible to mark the pieces that have been knocked off to the bar differently than the ones that haven't been moved yet in crowded backgammon and gammon race? With multiple games it's hard to keep track of forced moves the other player may or may not have.
I agree with BuilderQ. If you need time off use a vacation day, there are plenty of them for this purpose. For many people a day off may be a day more likely to be spent playing games ;)
It seems to me that if every holiday, of every possible culture were to be "days off", then there wouldn't be many days that AREN'T holidays.
I believe other sites have stopped doing holidays, for this reason.
I think the only holiday that really impacts most cultures, is Christmas.
I heard single citizens of the world's second-largest economy
feel neglected. Brainking would be the first gameserver with
a complete holiday database, hence patent-worthy. ~*~ 0:)
Valid point myfanwy but as stated by Medic, without the use of bodylanguage how can one know for sure in which context something is to be taken?
By the use of little letters like 'lol' perhaps, or :-)
:-)
I must have missed something because I thought Fencer's post was humourous.
"Please be patient as I have to be with you and your *you know what*."
The way I read it is that the *you know what* is refering to autopass...and, as everyone that reads this board knows, autopass is the 'dreaded word that shouldn't be mentioned'.
And of course, I've just mentioned it! C'est la vie.
or to widen it innecessarily - just a reminder that this is
feature request - not a 'you know what'-flameup panhandle ...
obviously not a non-czech board-edge as alleged once oupon the time ... ~*~
I didnt think it was meant that way personally. Its one of those things that you dont have the advantage of body language and voice inflection to give the mood of the sentence.
to request a feature without being attacked personally - fencer did not 'just ask for
patience', he talked back in a haughty way using an uncalled personal snide, a bad
example and highly unprofessional especially after becrying board style bitterly before ... ~*~
I think the point is that anyone has a right to their opinion, and can state such opinion (as long as within the rules of the site), but that does not mean the Fencer or anyone else will share that opinion, no matter how much you support the site. (if that is where you are trying to go with it.)
One other point I would like to make on the subject and that is I have two prize tourneys running at the moment with three years of rook membership up for grabs. I feel that does give me the right to state my opinion.
