Do you miss something on BrainKing.com and would you like to see it here? Post your request into this board! If there is a more specific board for the request, (i.e. game rule changes etc) then it should be posted and discussed on that specific board.
I would like to suggest that if someone has you on there enemy list, then they should not be able to send you insulting messages, just because they are not on your own enemy list.
If they message you and then add you to there list again, all correspondence should be deleted or hidden automatically.
Fencer...is it easy to have a feature that shows a start date and also a finish date for a game? I know we have the finish date, but thought it would be of great interest to myself and maybe others who like to know when there game starts as well. Thanks!
How about a button or a page to mark multiple (all) DBs and fellowship boards read in one go without having to open each one ... could be like the delete messages from inbox screen.
Oh yeah.... tried to play a word "ruth" for 39 points, the scramble gave me the word, but when I played it. it got denied, so I go5t frustrated and gave up, I will go move right now.
I thought you said you wanted to time out and not play?
Anywho, to keep this on topic.... Maybe someone could start a fellowship here for those of us that like to play scrabble??
I also understand your point Steve, but the policy in this game site, is to allow the enjoyment of the few in disregard of the enjoyment of the many... In my case, I have been told that it is okay for one person to hold up 100 people, as it is their right to play however they want to. I have been told to not play in games or tournaments with these people, if I don't like the way they play, and to not try and force them to change. There are very few tournaments I am able to play in anymore, because of these conditions, and it is sad that I my play and enjoyment is limited, because of a few people here, but thats just the way it is.
I am just passing this logic onto you, and your concerns about how someone else plays on this site. It is no different...If you do not like the way someone runs a tournament, don't play in it. If you do not like to have someone be able to message you, don't play against them. Don't try to change the rules, or force people to change the way they play and enjoy this site.
I knew what you meant Upchuck :o) I was stating that you lose out on things you want to do, all because of someone else. So no messages is a better way
Sorry Steve... guess I was trying to say, if you are concerned that you don't want to recieve any messages from someone, then don't play any games, or tournaments with them....thats all :)
Oh bum, I forgot this was public board etc LOL
Thats the problem when you can still see posts yourself, you forget. And seeing as Fencer hasnt said anything to me other than the post on here, I dont know when it will be back to normal for me
Steve: Although you're on 'hide', Fencer CAN see your request.
I agree with you - someone on an enemies list should also not be able to make contact through game's messages if you are playing that person.
I think being on enemy list should also stop in game messages, can this be added?? otherwise its useless having the function in the first place. Because of Tournies
I would second that idea ... to have a quick reference to who you are playing who is online is a great idea. (Oh no, my secret is out ... late at night I turn into a were-owl ... whoo whoo)
Personally I'd like to have both online friends and opponents in the column, but I'd like the ability to order that column according to my own priorities/preferences.
It would be nice to have the option on either having the "Frinds on-line" in the colume on the left, or have the "opponents on-line" in the column on the left.
I think he means that the only difference between the "Who is on-line" and "On-line opponents" pages is the link at the top to take you to the other one :-)
One thing that comes to mind against that idea, is the starting positions in a game like battle boats, for example, that you should not be privey to, if the player chooses to keep them private.
Have there been any complaints about unwanted comments on non-private games in progress? Personally I'd like all games to be public or at least the private games become public once they're finished.
In the Privacy Page, it says this: "If you want to increase your privacy when playing a game, you can check "Private game" checkbox in game definition page."
Why not also have an option that a player can check to play on this site in "Private Play" mode. I mean if you see that by hiding a game board increasing a persons privacy, you must see that being left off the "spy list" also can increase a persons privacy!
Well as I understand it, Fencer does not have much consern with user privacy - so this would be a great addition to let people know what others in our "gaming community" are doing.
I personally would like to see an option where people can have more privacy here. I have not seen any other person agree with me, so I have started to take the attitued of "when in Rome...."
So now I would like things to be fair to everyone - why just let the users who are on be able to "spy" on what others are doing. If a "log" could be kept - say the last 2 days of activity, then you don't have to be on at the same time to be able to do your spying.
Again, I would like to see an option where people could play game in peace and privacy, but I also know when I'm on the losing end of a battle. :-) (That is until I win the lottery and can make my own game site!)
If you are waiting too long for a response to a message, you can just send a reminder. No flag will tell you what they are thinking.
If a message gets deleted then so be it. No need to flag excessive deleters. No flag will tell you what they said.
Many more important features to be had, don't you think?
BBW, a lot of your posts are written with a lot of sarcasm and a lot are being serious.
Right now I'm confused as to where you really stand on this privacy issue. Or have I missed something?
Cariad summed it up nicely for me in her post of a few days ago when she gave a time and added 'running a bath while eating an apple turnover'.
God help us all if Big Brother gets to brainking! I must confess it's starting to smack of it now.
Personally, I have no desire to see what my opponent is doing when I'm playing our game.
I didnt mean the deletions, about which I agree with you and IMupChucKing, and if, as your later post suggests, you've changed your position on "Who is on-line" I retract my enquiry.
.. I mean we can already track what a user does while we are on, this would be a way to track a user while we are off!
Beter yet, why not keep lets say 2 days of "What a person is doing" log that people can actually see everything a person has done for the past 2 days!
(NOTE: I'm normally against privacy issues like this, but since it seems like I'm in the minority here... well lets just go all out then - lets not limit people tracking others to just while they are on - lets give everyone an equal chance to track each other.)
... about getting a "return reciept" on a message sent to a user - actually no, it could come in useful - for example I'm waiting on 1 person to enter a couple of the "fast start chapionship" tournament, which I sent them a seperate message to ask if they were interested or not, they have been on but they have not signed up or answered. Since this person has actually qualified for this tournament, I don't want to start it without them (unless they don't want to play.) But as right now, I'm not sure if they don't want to play so they are ignoring the message, or if they are the type of person that just does not read their message box very often.
Or are you talking about the "Deleted message" post - not joking about that either - it would be nice to know if post get deleted (or even edited) - it's annoying to see a post which is a reply to another post which is now gone.
When someone deletes a message, instead of actually getting rid of it, have everything in it removed but leave the words *Message removed by XXXX* - that way you also know who removed a message.
I would like to see when a message has been deleted in a discussion group. It can be very frustrating to look for an old message, you know was there but cant find it. Plus if a conversation seems disjointed, you would know why, if someones post was deleted. Maybe if it showed who deleted it also. ie the person who did the post, or the moderator, or fencer, or whoever.
How about letting paid members be able to track messages - that is see when another person has read a message.
Since I don't have the time to keep track of a user and what a user is doing - but I sent them a message but I don't know if they have actually read it yet, or if they are one of the people who does not read their message box very often. If there was a way to get a "Person A read your message at XX:XX:XX time" would be a cool way to keep track of people!
