it would be nice that google ad sense would not lead to a longer waiting time ... if the responsible page could not be reached you have to wait and in some time a timeout occur.

The chess (variants) community here has a lot of games, thanks. But there are other customers.

The keyword is: Egoless programming.

I think Fencer added so many chess games in last time so that is it enough for the moment. I think most of us chess game players need to digest the so many new games at first.

I do not know anything about Backgammon, but I think in the next time the major improvements should belong to backgammon games.

Most of the customers are there ;-)

But this is off-topic here. I will set up a wiki and everybody is welcome.

By the way: If I would have done away the logo anf changed the Url and some other things in http://iftomm-rotordynamics2006.mdmt.tuwien.ac.at/wiki/index.php/Main_Page (in progress) - would you see this as "wiki"?

In my opinion it would be better to show the rows in Chinese chess beginning from 1 to 10 and not from 0-9 (and changing the notation).

1) would be nice to see that in the privacy statement

2) i am not a complete layman. i have a discussion board site and i am a mod in other sites whith discussion-boards.
and in this sites there are separated areas like fellowships too. even not an admin can directly access them.
e.g. when i notice that fencer is online in "Political Cliches - Downing of Civilization" although he is no member there so this is strange.
Of course i know that admins must be have accessiblity to such areas, but it looks better when they do it in the database or in a way in which others can not notice it.

题目: Re: Privacy of Fellowships
myfanwy: No fellowship can be guaranteed to be private. Copying and pasting by one or more of its members sees to that.
This is not that what i mean.

Otherwise, I believe fellowships are secure. I think there was a bug that allowed non-members to view but that has been sorted out. Don't quote me on that though.
And if a non-member is an admin here? This is it what i mean.

In my opinion an admin here has to handle fellowships in the same way as a sysadmin the mails of his administrated server. I am a sysadmin and i think and do so.

it would be more clearly if the discussion boards can be viewed thread-based. at the main page of the DB showing the threads and only them. clicking on one would expand the choosen thread and only this one.
Note: This would be easier for our moderator "mafia" using their weapon arsenal. ;-)

题目: Re: So you disapprove? Big deal.
playBunny: A high rating demonstrates mastery

It depends on the amount of played games. When e.g. a player plays only a few games and gets more than 2400 at first ... it demonstrates NOTHING.

Fencer: The idea is good, but I am against it. An example: In Loop Chess I am currently playing 8 games against Noger, and my opponent and i are playing in every loop chess tournament here. so we will soon reach the amount 10 or more simultaneously played games against each other.
But it is obviously when somebody got a high rating without playing against more players ...

It is highly needed to improve the rating system in another case. How can it be that people are reaching a rating of 2300 and more with only a few amount of games?!

morphy4ever: it is not here the place to discuss about walter or danoschek, but i am requesting moderating in terms of openness. The way for that is self-organizing. if user X does not like user Y, he will set him on hide and done. and if more people do this the hidden people will recognize it ... look at the wikipedia. open content - open source. the community is handling this tool in a collaboratively way.

Danoschek is banned. And my opinion about this is: this is an echo of the ugliest ages of censorships. yes, way to democracy takes more than 15 years?!

in the ages of collaborative working in wikis and other tools the way for controlling is self-organizing.

题目: Re: membership delete button
baudrillard: Fencer is required by law (under the Czech Republich Personal Data Protection Act of April 4, 2000) to provide a method to delete the account. If a database holds personal information including published words (anything written in public on a site like this is recognised as 'published') they may only hold that information with the consent of the author. I have withdrawn my consent. Therefore, my account must be deleted. This is pretty standard in International laws regarding Data Protection.

Well Fencer, that is easy to solve. Make a form for "leaving", pointing out at it that all personal and public data will be anonymized or deleted and rename the account. Let the ID be ... this ID is necessary, I understand.

By the way: WHY do you want to leave?

Walter Montego: When there's 47 posts in the little number, do you really count each post to see if any are missing?

Because of the censorship i am making regularly snapshots, so it is easy for me to recognize which of the past posting were hidden.

So, if hiding, then do it very well. I saw it not directly but in a way which surely is not planned ... "2 new" but in the board only one.

Only those people that actually wanted to view the posts would have access to them.
People can hide postings themselves. Why that?

BIG BAD WOLF: So it depends on how you look at it. The (1 NEW) message is a feature so people know there are new posts. But since the new post is hidden, then some may look at it as being a bug since even though there is a new post, it can not be read.

Exactly THAT I mean. It is a bug. And if you find irony in my posting you can keep it yourself.
