ClayNashvilleTn: Google found: Pente Strategy Book by Tom Braunlich
Don't know anything about it. www.playpente.com has a good introductory strategy section.
And, check out the Plente o' Pente fellowship - it's dedicated to Pente strategy and discussion. We've got an open game going on right now, with detailed move discussion on the board, and an unrated "talking" tourney where we discuss our moves and strategy with our opponents.
Hey pente freaks, there is a pente tournament starting at www.pente.org march 4th, 2005 if any one is interested! Must register by march 3rd, 2005 and be an established player which means 20 games!
Thad: I don't think I have a problem with it. Off the top of my head, it seems like an alright idea to me. It may be a bit easier to get any new pente news this way. I'd tell fencer to go for it...
I heard a rumor that Fencer will be combining some of the boards, particularly game variants. I don't want to start a huge discussion here, but I would like to know how players feel about the various pente boards being combined. There are corrently four: Pente, Keryo Pente, Small Pente, & Small Keryo Pente. I realize that there are variations in the tactics, strategies, & player preferences in all of them, but the discussion here has been extremely light in the past few months, so I don't think there would be a problem with all four being combined into one.
In regular versions (Pente, Open Pente, & Small Pente) capturing 10 (or more) stones is a win. In Keryo Pente (& Small Keryo & Open Keryo) it takes 15 captured stones to win.
I have created another tournament called "Satan's Annual Hellish Halloween PENTE Tournament." This is the 2nd year I've created this, so I'm calling it annual now. Please sign up for it. It is open to all players. The winner will recieve a paid membership if the turnout is greater than 10 people. So come on everyone, sign up!!!! Thanks!

Sign up for the new Pente tourny for players with BKR above 1700. It is fast start and I`m hoping to start games May 25th.
Hoping to see many of the BK top players in the tourny!
There will be a live round robin Pente tournament in Baltimore around the middle of May (the exact date is not yet set). So far we only have 7 people: dmitriking, up2ng, cicerolove, dweebo, mmammel, mike321, and kevin. We need some more people -- I am sure there are a LOT more people around on the East Coast. But the tourn is not limited to people from the East Coast -- Greg is coming all the way from Texas!
A live tournament is a fantastic opportunity to meet some of the top players and personalities face to face. So make a commitment to support the live Pente community and join us for fun over real boards.
Go to WPPF site (tourney section) to sign up (now):

Announcing the 2004 Pente Email Open World Championship. Top Pente and Renju players from around the world take part in a very competitive tournament. It will be using the opening variant D-Pente in which the first four moves are placed by one player, then the other player has the option of which color to play. This opening removes the advantage of moving first which exists even with the regular Pente tournament rule.
The tournament will be held on Richard's Play by EMail server, send me a message if you would like to play or if you have questions about how to use PBEM.
