Tuesday: "Have You Ever Seen the Rain", CCR,
"Still Rainin'" Jonny Lang,
"Love Reign(Rain) O'er Me" The who
ok, that last one is really reaching, but sounds like rain ; )
bwildman and tuesday: 2 of my favorite tab sites are guitaruniverse.com and mxtab.net....they have REO but not Golden Country- great song. You can just fake it like me...
Golden Country, your face is so red, with all your money, your poor can't be fed...F C G Am...and so on...but you probably want something better than that, huh? : )
Andersp: I know, but I still like to have the CDs in my hand to have and hold..I do have a Best Buy gift certificate..I'll give that a look...and the Wal Mart near me surprisingly has one of the best collections of different kinds of music of any place in town! I was really surprised!
rhiannon: cool- I'd like to hear that Staying Alive one as well....I don't suppose there is a list of all the awesome guitarists featured on the album?
rhiannon: I saw the song list- but it doesn't show details of who is on the album, and believe me, I looked for that!!!
I didn't know that was with Miss Piggy!!!
rhiannon: yep
went googling and found the set- what an awesome collection of songs! I think it's only available here as an import...more than I can afford!
rhiannon: oh thanks Rhiannon...I figured it had to be new- I would have taken notice of it before. Is it just the 4th set that is covers or the whole 4 CD set?
I'll have to check this out- thanks
I like cover albums...one of my favorites is one David Bowie did in the 70's of his favortie 60's songs..caleed 'Pin Ups', I think- some very original renditions of some good songs : )
hmmmmmmmmmmm.....I think it was mountain...I have to lookit up now, I'm not sure...one of those southern rock bands...
it was a trip hearing Ozzy do it..at least I think it was Ozzy !!!
Tuesday: yep- Tuesday - it's on the album "Who's Next"
one of my all time favorites!
Roger Daltry IS the man Behind Blue Eyes...at least that's what I've always thought
Antichrist- I think you're wrong...I think they do a cover and make it their own...alot of times I like the cover as well/or just as much as the original
Have you ever heard Stevie Ray Vaughn's or Eric Clapton's version of Hendrix's 'Little Wing'?
They took a great song and made it even better...and no one can accuse either of them for lacking in creativity!!!
bwildman: DUH!!!! Told you I was a little foggy on my years spent in Chicago in the 70's. Thanks for sorting me out. I'm sure it was because I was so young???
Tuesday: Isn't it great when you hear something like that on the radio? It's like a treasure : ) The stations here just play the same old songs over and over again, when there's so much good stuff they could choose from.
Found 'Demons and Wizards' at Best Buy for $7.99...couldn't believe it!! They have some great old ones at the one near me, grabbed Spirit's '12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus' too : )
bwildman: That's about the same time I saw Floyd.76? 77? 78?
Those late 70's are a bit foggy for me! LOL
I also saw the Sox play there quite a bit. I was more a Sox fan than the Cubs...whoops! Those late 70's were the days of the Super Concerts. BIG concerts with so many names on the list at the show. Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd and George Thorogood & the Destroyers and two other well known groups all on the same bill. Any of of those bands by themselves would have been awesone, but there was always at least 4 big ones together for these all days fests. It was great- don't think they do concerts like that anymore.
Tuesday; I love Uriah Heep! Listening to 'Demons and Wizards' right now
kitti: I've been lucky to see so many good ones. But the most memorable one was when I was in Chicago as a teen and Pink Floyd came to town. I'll never forget lying on the ground in Soldier's Field and watching that huge inflatable pig float aross the crowd. Don't know why that one leaves the biggest impression, maybe because I was so young, but what an experience Pink Floyd was! It was one of my first concerts!
A close second was watching ZZTop in the Astrodome come peeling out in their trademark ZZ car, tearing up the dirt and doing donuts, peeling up to the stage, and then the car skidding to a stop...and in true ZZ form, walked ever so coolly up to the stage, picked up their fluffy guitars and went to town!!!!! They didn't let up for almost 3 hours!!!
....and who performed it (several correct answers on this one)
1) "...a bowl of oatmeal tried to stare me down and won, and it was 12 o'clock before I realized I was having no fun..."
2) "...catch the witness, catch the wit, catch the spirit, catch the spit..."
3) "...well I could tell that they was mine from the oil and gasoline..."
4) "...here we are now, entertain us, I feel stupid and contagious..."
btw, I STILL think he is saying "Drunk and stupid and contagious" but I've been told I'm wrong : )
5) "....Nobody bites back as hard on their anger, none of my pain and woe can show through..."
6)"...it's too late to say you're sorry, how did I know, why should I care..."
7)"...and the devil take that woman for you know she treat me easy..."
8) "...funk to funky, we know Major Tom's a junkie.."
9)"..I'm gonna find me a hole in the wall, I'm gonna crawl inside and die..."
10) "...now one and one is two, two and two is four, I'm heavy loaded baby, I'm booked I gotta go...."
11)"...with a pair of heavy-duty Zircon-encrusted tweezers in my hand, every other wrangler would say I was mighty grand..."
12)"...with a boulder on my shoulder, feeling kinda older, I tripped a merry-go-round..."
13)"...when I'm sad, she comes to me, with a thousand smile she gives to me for free...."
14) "...wishing I were on a fast freight train just a-chooglin down to New Orleans..."
15) "... come on try a little, nothing is forever, there's got to be something better than in the middle..."
: ) easy, maybe, but maybe I can trip y'all up on one or two ; )
they just played here and were incredible...I saw a new DVD of the tour in Rio a while back...it was incredible...they didn't even know they had fans there, and wherever they played the crowds went wild...singing the songs out loud every word and most of them don't speak english and they KNEW EVERY WORD!!!!!..Rush was blown away...you could just see the amazement on their faces...definately a DVD to watch....they just are awesome!!!!! : ) : ) :)
incredible link....rush rocks : ) I have always loved them....his voice has really matured over the years...better than ever...and Geddy Lee plays bass better than most play guitar!!!!
gotta agree with you on that....it sparked alot of new interest in alot of new areas that were not being promoted instead of the same old *yawn* same old stuff that gets airplay
way to go kitti....I read Robert Plant was very into wizards and middle earth, so that's where the references came from : ) and I agree, many of their songs have that quality : ) probably part of what I love so much about them...that and page's guitar, plant's passion with vocals.. bonham jp jones's bass...I could go on and on..........
"I built me a raft and she's ready for floating, Old Mississippi she's calling my name".....if I could figure out how to link like the other's do here, I would...do you know how????? : )
I know "Georgia on my mind," but never heard of Mississippi on my mind....but one of my all time favorite songs goes "Old black water, keep on rollin...Mississippi Moon won't you keep on shinin on me...." Who can name the band that sang that???? : )
I was thinking the same thing...it can't be easy to work so long and so intensely with 3 people who obviously have alot of creativity and music inside of them...must have some secret of success : ) Not alot of bands can survive that...I didn't realize there were already 5 CD's.....on your page, I only read about 2..any other links to share the other with us?????
IMPRESSIVE...what a really cool site...nice graphics and links : ) Like the music : ) very fresh and imaginative...only could hear a little, but sounds like there's this incredible flute......are you guys touring around much?
WELL SAID....I've always been open-minded about music, I think you're right, it's a lack of exposure and a laziness, or more an ignorance of how or where to research for new stuff..thanks for untrapping the firebugs : )
to bwildman- thanks for the trouble you went to check this out for us all.......
to SF...I'm still listening to Joy Division!!! AWESOME....How did I NOT know about this band????
Any other links you want to post, please feel free : ) if you had to pick one CD for a first for me, which would it be??? I'm leaning towards Unknown Pleasures
there's probably alot more open minds here than you think : ) and I should have known better than to think there was someone you hadn't heard of !
lol about Paul...he was probably freaking cause it was like playing with a young George again and if he has a jealous lear it's cause he's not anymore...I'll definatley have to see it : )
and cheers to Cole on the CSNY link a page or two back....I enjoyed that : )
LOL!! I thought the same thing about Paul's little uke trip, but it was his tribute to a great man that was a brother to him in his own way, so you can't fault him for that, and he's Paul, and there's only one of him..have to admit I love him too......and couldn't have said better "Thank God for Clapton" under any circumstances : ) I wanted the DVD, but got the CD..so I've only seen pics of Dhani, I'm just going to have to go get it and Brainwashed too...would love to hear JD...you can pm or post it, others might be interested too...am listening now to one that I bet you haven't heard of...Captain Beyond...ya know that name?
I remember cheap trick "I Want YOU to Want ME" and their name is self-explanatory.IMHO..SF-No, I have not heard of Joy Division or George's "Brainwashed" but I will find it now .....I was given a CD on my birthday called Concert for George..in which his friends and family performed his songs as a tribute to him....it's an awesome CD
George Harrison was my favorite...he was the guitar genius of the band and one of my favorite songwriters...but got put on the back burner living beneath the shadow of McCartney & Lennon...IMO one of the most underrated musicians of all time!!!!!!!
