ketchuplover: I've had no problems with it. I think the "secret" is to uncheck that box that was there before completing the download. (I don't remember now what it was about). At POGO, the forums suggested unchecking that box, for less problems. I did uncheck it, and I've had zero issues. Possibly coincidence, though, I suppose. For some reason I practically never experience problems when other people do.
SL-Mark: That's great if you read sign language. He says there's a video that he later made with subtitles, but the one I found didn't have the best ones.
ellieoop: I was only pasting what is in my "exceptions" box. It is not a specific game #, as I play a million different games there. I didn't type anything in that box myself. I'm pretty sure it was very simple though. Don't you get a line at the top of the window, saying "popups blocked" or something when you try to enter? All you would need to do is click it tell it to allow pop ups from Pogo.
I have all pop ups blocked in Chrome, and if I click on Exceptions (Options, Under The Hood, Content Settings, Pop Ups, Exceptions) My one exception is this : [*.]game3.pogo.com
I hope at least part of this helps. I personally can't live without Pogo!
Vikings: Seems to be happening to a lot of people right now. Maybe everyone? In Firefox, at the bottom of my screen it just keeps saying "Waiting for img.brainking.com" .. I've never see that before. Maybe because normally it only flashes, because it's normally fast?
Others are mentioning similar problems on General Chat
Christoph Daum: Thank you... That sounds pretty easy..
And this puts the icons on the screen automatically too?
You'll have to pardon me, I'm a "newbie" to having my own computer at home. (I've used plenty, at work, friends' etc...) When you say "copy" it, what does that process involve? (I'm sure it's nothing like copy and pasting text! LOL)
You mention the desktop, my documents, and possibly some applications. Is there anything else I might not be thinking of that I would want to bring over from it?
Czuch Czuckers: I don't know if there is a simpler way, there might be. But what I do is copy the item, put it in Notepad, copy the next item, go back to Notepad and Edit the entry and add the new item.
Then I compose the message around those URL's
(I'm talking about putting links to multiple ponds/tournies in one PM, as an example)
wetware: I wonder if there is something similar in Firefox? I looked under Tools -- Options, but didn't see anything. I may not be looking for the right thing though.. lol..
Network card or USB? I have usb ports... is that what you mean? LOL, pardon my ignorance.
I think later today I will visit the website that the email links to, and see what I can find out. I figured I would get the info in plainer English here, than I would on the website. And I'm probably right about that.. lol..
coan.net: Nah, I don't NEED very high speed. You need to remember, I just came from WebTV, so even dialup seems very fast. LOL... Having gotten a taste of the goodies available with a computer, I am disappointed with some things I just still can't do. (The slowness of downloading almost anything, for one!) I could live with it, though. But, when I received the email advertising the $14.95/month, which is only slightly higher than I am paying to get online now, it peaked my interest. Are there other costs I'm not considering? I believe the email even said the needed equipment was included. I wonder what system requirements there are, though? Maybe my computer isn't good enough to bother with highspeed?
My cable company does offer deals if you bundle it with phone and cable, but it is still about $30/month. Which I suppose is something to consider since I now pay about $50/month for cable. (Their deal is the standard all 3 for $100/month that I think most offer)
LOL.. too much info to have to consider. I need someone to just make the decision for me! lol...
I am considering going high-speed. Could someone tell me the advantages/disadvantages to going with broadband or dsl??
My phone company is offering dsl at $14.95 per month, which isn't much more than I am paying currently to come online. My cable company has deals for broadband too, but I haven't seen anything as cheap as this.
Rose: I installed FasterFox and am not experiencing those problems.
Personally, I don't find FasterFox any faster, though. LOL.. Oh well..
Anyone: This may not be the board for this question, but maybe it is.. All of a sudden, in rich text editor, my scissors, copy and paste icons are dimmed out, as though they are not available to use. It's been like this for a few days now. Also, I have a special formatted good luck message that I have saved in notepad. It just has a couple smileys and colored letters. I used to just go to notepad, click edit on the entry, copy it, and paste it right into my game message. Ever since these icons have been "dimmed", when I copy the message, and then paste it (using ctrl+c, and ctrl+v since the appropriate icons aren't working), When it pastes, the smileys are there, but not moving, and when I submit the move, it shows up in the game as "<img> Good Luck <img>" (The letters are colored the way I wanted, but the smileys show up as <img>") Can anyone tell me why? It worked fine for quite a while, then suddenly changed. Have I changed something on my computer that might have caused this????
题目: Re: that that messenger service is turned back on, and those pop up messages start coming fast & furious again. So I seem to have to shut it back off each time I come online. Hopefully after this upgrade is installed this will stop??
Jason: I ran a virus scan a few days ago, and it found nothing. I wonder if there is any way to completely remove the Windows Messenger? (Since I intend on shutting off everytime it comes back on.) I wonder why it doesn't stay off.. What sort of legitimate things would it be used for? (Wondering if I am going to regret turning it off? But I can't deal with those things popping up a few times a minute)
Rose: Thanks!!! that did it! I knew I had seen people mention some sorta thing like that.. but I never really paid attention, because that never happened with WebTV. I missed my moving smileyz!!!!
I hope this isn't a rediculous question, but can anyone tell me why the smilies have stopped moving for me?? (actually one still seems to move, it's the one with the eyes that pulse like hearts).. I have cleared cookies, and they still aren't moving. It has been over 24 hours that this has been happening..
kaluza: I have Windows 2000. As I type this message right now, the only upgrade available is installing.
I have noticed that every time I power off, and boot back up, that that messenger service is turned back on, and those pop up messages start coming fast & furious again. So I seem to have to shut it back off each time I come online. Hopefully after this upgrade is installed this will stop??
ßăķëď Äłáşķǻñ: Thanks! That was it. They were called Windows Messenger. Just like on that site. (Mine were different "offers" though. All centered around "fixing" my computer. So, I shut them off, and haven't been bothered, since. Thanks!
I finally ditched webtv and bought a laptop. So, you will probably have to explain like you are talking to a child! lol
I come online through Juno. It has a pop up blocker, and seems to work well, as I don't get many pop ups at all. (Though, most of my online time is really spent here at BK anyways) However, I keep getting these pop ups that dont look like typical ads. They look like messages you get from your computer. (Typical dialog boxes telling you stuff that is going on, like when downloading.. with an OK button, and the typical windows type stuff, the X , minimize and maximize buttons
They are telling me such as "55 critical errors have been found, go to this website, blah blah blah.. " and telling me to go places like 32sys.com, regproscan.net, helpfixpc.com(NOT Microsoft sites like I would think it would). The first time I started getting these, I did visit the site. It wanted me to basically download something that would find things, and I could pay for it to fix them. I also got a pop up saying something about the "certificate" and the site could not be confirmed. So, I did nothing.
A friend said it sounded like spyware, so I downloaded a spy bot ran it and it found a bunch of stuff, and I got rid of it. The pop ups persisted.
Later, I got looking around, and found an Event Log (Start/Settings/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Log)... Lo and behold, EVERY one of these pop ups were logged in there, and called "application pop ups". If I clicked on each individual event, it showed me an exact copy of the messages in the various pop ups.
I then downloaded a virus scan through Microsoft, and it found nothing.
Please, someone must have some advice! These popups are making me crazy. They are coming 3 or 4 per minute sometimes!
