RoastedParsnip: If you click on someone else's profile, it will also have an area saying "Use brains for membership for this person" (or something like that), with a drop down menu with what you have enough brains for.
Fencer: I think his point is, that if there was more of a hint (not a full description, necessarily), more people would add to their membership to take advantage of this offer. :-D

the news has for some time said: Everybody who pays for any kind of membership (or extends the current one) and makes it to the end of January 2006, will automatically receive 200 free Brains to be used in the new tournament system, which is planned to be released in February. All details will be posted on the Brains page in advance.
it occurs to me that if we had some hint about the nature of this new tournament system, and what part Brains will play in it, the offer of 200 Brains for extending membership might be a bit more enticing. until we know what this new tournament system is, and what Brains are going to have to do with it, we don't know what value to place on that offer. am i going to have any interest in participating in the new tournament system? what does 200 Brains get me under this system? i don't know. therefore i don't know if the offer of 200 free Brains means a lot to me, or nothing.
"What can I do with Brains?
You can use the Brains as a virtual money to pay for your membership on BrainKing. The amount is equivalent to the amounts in CZK. For example, if you want to buy one-year Brain Knight, you must have at least 500 Brains. When you have enough Brains to buy the particular membership, a new form will appear on the Profile page of the user you want to buy a membership (yours or anybody else's) and you will be able to use this way of payment."
Check your profile page. It will tell you if you have enough.

TexasToest:
Time per move and vacation modes # Fixed weekends only - if a game is created with this option, the player's weekend settings are ignored and the standard Saturday-Sunday weekend is used. Moreover, no other vacation days are calculated for this game time. Such game invitations or tournaments are marked by a green dot.
# No days off - this game is played with absolutely no days off and the time range between moves is never longer than the defined days/hours per move value. Such game invitations or tournaments are marked by a red dot.

harley: oh. i see. i'm one of those people who's never managed to fully internalize the "it's just a game" sentiment...i agree with those who think the behavior we're discussing is rude, and while i wouldn't say it *hurts* me, i do find it very annoying. and i think it's interesting (in an annoyed kind of way) to try to figure out why someone would do that. but i can see Your point of view too...not everybody cares about such things.
harley: of people putting a lot of games in the waiting room and then resigning halfway through them, You say, Why try to make sense of it?! It takes all kinds, I'm sure they had their reasons even if we can't understand them.
You're advocating complacency. You're saying, "the hell with etiquette, polite behavior, principles...people should be allowed to do anything they please, and no-one should ever complain about it, because the perpetrators must have their reasons."
that's a blanket excuse for any behavior at all. Hitler, Qadaffi, Jeffrey Dahmer...they all had their reasons. i'm not equating the behavior of game-bailers with the behavior of those three, but the principle is the same. if certain codes of behavior are simply ignored, a civilization, be it that of a country or of a gaming site, falls apart.
it's possible to go too far in one's efforts to avoid conflict, Lady, and i think that's what You're doing here.
Feel free to move this question to another area, if there's a more appropriate place. Does a double check count as one check or two, according to the BrainKing software? My guess (and preference) is "one", but I need to know in order to choose the proper continuation in a current game. Thanks in advance!
Stevie: Likewise. For me the problem is highly intermittent and most accesses are behaving. Then a big hesitation or several little one occur. UK problem, I guesss. [shrug]
