Artful Dodger: No, just the impact and effect are still.. debatable. Cooling.. I heard that in the film "the day after tomorrow".. where the destabilisation of a sea current from the dumping of fresh water from the polar ice. Accuracy.. unknown to me. Without reading much sites I won't say it's right or wrong. It's in a box waiting info.
As to scepticism.. I agree, read.. but don't trust either side.. BOTH sides are making money from it. Businesses who will lose money from having to be greener and are lobbying government should not be trusted either.
I must say that you cannot deny we have had effect on our environment. Acid rain.. Nuclear reactors melting down leaving areas of land no go and our sheep designated "kill, to radioactive for human consumption." Smog.. LA had/has a problem with that.
My point is.. rather then moan about what they all are saying, do some research. Not just from anti GW sites, but from all to understand why they are saying it.
Subjekt: Re: not trusting people w/ financial stake on global warming
Artful Dodger: What about "scientist" who have a huge financial incentive to disprove man-made global warming on behalf of big oil cos & mfg. poluters? Their "gravy train" would be gone without financial assistance also.
Subjekt: Re: Change the subject. And in case you were sleeping, Bush is no longer President.
Artful Dodger: And what is happening to the pockets of the anti-global warming crowd. I see many books being written and speeches etc. Guess both sides of the extreme wings are making money. That is life... Bible bashers, celebs etc all do it. Best to make a buck now till the next 'in thing' comes to play.
And why do you just hark on about the extremists? Some of the middle roaders are just listening and using the sensible ideas. Recycle more, more insulation, grow your own. Allotments here have gone from being underused to now have waiting lists.
And new schemes such as microgeneration are more widely available. Such is.. that it might be that you'll find that the energy companies will owe you money at the end of the year.
Subjekt: Re: Change the subject. And in case you were sleeping, Bush is no longer President.
Artful Dodger: So, lets play a level field. Don't moan at the likes of Al Gore making money and I won't pick up on detail (that you missed to report) on Sarah Plain's big fees.
And FYI, it's not just liberals here who scorn Palin, but Labour and Conservative supporters alike.
And yes Al Gore brought to the forefront Global warming, something right wing Repub's don't like. Maybe another dust bowl we get the message through
You do remember that don't you.. over intensive farming causing entire farmland regions to be destroyed. A fine example of mankinds impact on the earth.
Subjekt: Re: Malkin: "Obama's war on fishing?!?!?!"
Jim Dandy: Same here, the system is not perfect, but is better than losing a natural resource completely. Our salmon is now mostly farmed, wild is still available but costs more.
But.. while some fisherman are suffering, the industry now has a future. Changes I feel will be made to the rules and regs, yet also the buyers have got to be more responsible. Certain fish is being ignored and counted as a waste of money. Though I remember eating them as a kid. Too many supermarkets dictating what sells, independent fishmongers are vanishing.
In a recent news story the supermarkets are taking heavy flak.. why, because they are buying milk at prices that are less then the farmers can milk it for. It is the supermarkets and their policies that are killing the milk producers in the UK.
Subjekt: Re: Malkin: "Obama's war on fishing?!?!?!"
(V): It's a complicated issue with no easy answers.Canada's east coast fisherman have been devestated by restrictions the past decade, and their economy suffers greatly. These days our grocery stores sell farmed fish mostly,if the tag doesn't sat "wild" it is farmed, and the taste does not compare.I think the boat has sailed on this issue, it's too late to restore our waters.
Subjekt: Re: Change the subject. And in case you were sleeping, Bush is no longer President.
Tuesday: Whatever happened to being there to support your political base. Having buckets so people can put in what they can afford. In these days of recession and pay cuts/freezes creaming supporters is just bad form and damn right money grabbing selfishness.
Subjekt: Re: Malkin: "Obama's war on fishing?!?!?!"
Jim Dandy: Are there no fishing regulations in place to protect against over fishing and the collapse of a viable breeding stock? We had "Cod Wars" here in Europe with even warships getting involved in stopping fishing boats from fishing in their territory.
Over fishing/hunting serves no-one but a short term profit that leads to no business in the long run. You can't hunt/fish what is no longer there.
One noticeable change here in the UK is now, most fish &chip shops stock a wider variety of fish. Also much of convenience style fish products are now made of white fish.
Tuesday: It's come across to me, that Republicans mock educated folks calling them "Harvard types" and other pointed names.I will say it does serve them well.Democrats on the other hand should learn from the success of short, simplified talking points, the Republicans have refined it to an art form.
I'm taking this board off my favorite boards list. I don't need to read who rules or owns this board, who makes what grammar or spelling mistakes, or the like.

In a March 9, post titled, "Obama's war on fishing?!?!?!" Michelle Malkin posted the ESPN column's claim that "the Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters." Malkin added, "Longtime readers know I love to fish and have been at war with the anti-fishing nuts at PETA for years."
After fish, what's next? Will Obama ban kittens? And then hold Kitten death panels?
Subjekt: Re: Change the subject. And in case you were sleeping, Bush is no longer President.
Artful Dodger: There is an old saying that those who refuse to look back at events will carry on making the same mistakes.
And Sarah Palin is making about $100k per speech. Good money for a failed vice presidential candidate who left her job as a governor over (from what I hear) using her position for personal agenda's...
That there are complaints from GOP supporters who don't like the idea of shelling out over $500 to see her speak.
Maybe she has worn out her dresses from the campaign days... Or maybe she is just greedy
What is this about Bush not stopping any spending bill during his terms in office. The Medicare prescription bill I see cost (costs) between $400 billion to $2 trillion??
Education costs under Bush increased from $36 billion to $61 billion.
Jim Dandy: Homeland security... I don't get that yet. Sounds like a strange invasion of sci-fi (Babylon 5 re Night watch and such as the 'ministry of truth') into the real world. I thought the FBI were supposed to defend the internal borders of the USA!
Artful Dodger: Didn't the Republicans, especially the right wing extremists follow Bush without question? I heard everyone who was on Bush's side go.. "Saddam has WMD's".. Bush tried to link (probably worked for the weak minded folk) Saddam and Bin Laden.
Also you see to fail to remember of Bush's free speech zones, where protesters were herded away from where Bush's travel routes so the protests wouldn't be visible.
Tuesday: I'm not ready to brand the group anti black, though there clearly is a number of them who feel that way.I just think they can't stomach a Democratic president leading them.It seems they are freaked out about the taking of their liberties, well why weren't they upset when GW implemented wiretapping and other intrusive measures?
