That's what I'd assume :-)

you'd go bankrupt :)

(probably it bets all your points left, leaving you with 0 for the next round)

Fencer: I just thought of this - what if, for example, i were to be 20,000 (or anything greater than 10,000) on the first round, and not change it for the 2nd round? :-)

Hmmmm.... have we always had all those DB's?
I dont remember seeing many of them before?

Czuch: there are... I know I can see a board in every game and I'm just a pawn :)
It's just that some games are so similar that the same board is shared by them all...

How come there are not public DB's for all games supported by Brainking?

Stevie - I disagree with if you time out, you fall into the pond.

Since in this game you are not allowed to take vacation days, weekends, etc..... having it default to take your previous guess is a good option. Otherwise you will have a round start on Friday night after someone leave for the weekend - 2 days pass to Sunday night, round is over - Monday morning, the person is back and finds out they missed a whole round.

So I think it is a good rule to use previous bet.

Fencer - chop to it then young man!!

I'll expect to see then next time i log on..... LOL

BBW - good point. Members Only sounds right to me. Or should it go in Tournaments?

15. prosince 2004, 21:42:09
Czuch
Just a technicality..... But, there is no way to time out in this game. It is set up that you have a default guess no matter what. So, you technically have 2 days to "change" your guess, and by not optioning to make a change, your default guess is always used. On the first turn, you default guess is 0, after the first turn it is whatever your previous guess was.

15. prosince 2004, 21:37:33
Fencer
Yes to all :-)

15. prosince 2004, 21:35:40
coan.net
Bry - Yes, I believe so. I think you will be able to see the persons last bet, how many points they have left, and what place they are in (person with highest points - 1st, etc....) [again, I think - will find out for sure once this round is complete]

2) I also agree that a message board to talk about the pond game would be good - it seems like a lot of people still have questions and such. The Members only board would probable be where we should take this discussion now - since it is a members only game.

15. prosince 2004, 21:34:48
Bry
Fencer - on the options to move to the next game, can you add options to move to the next "tournament" game, the next "Team Tournament" game and the next "Normal" game?

15. prosince 2004, 21:33:52
Bry
Stevie - agreed. I think future games should be that if you time out your guess is "0" and will inevitably fall into the pond. However, this means if soemone times out in each of the first 5 rounds, you could in theory get thru them by just guessing 1point. Timeout should really mean falling into the pond then.

Subjekt: I think this is the right board for this:
I'd like to request that a proper discussion board be created for the pond game. What exists now is a replica of the system of messages-in-game for all the other games and where each player posts one message per turn. I'd hardly call it a discussion. What kind of a discussion is it if you must wait 2 days for the opportunity to reply? :)

Anyway, a real discussion board like those for the other games would concentrate all the comments about how to improve the game in one place, easier to browse and leave the rest of the boards clear for other important things (like real feature requests) and especially not bother the pawns with suggestions for a game they can't play and... oh... wait... I see why there is no such DB now... hmm... right... you sure plan things the right way Fencer ;)

Now seriously, sooner or later things will go off topic (if not already with aligators swimming around), and then there will be a mod throwing everyone to the pond :)

[NOTE: I'm a pawn by my own will, and am playing on becoming a paying member someday... just not right now. So I'm not complaining against the game or anything like that, on the contrary. I think this is a legitimate feature request, that's all]

If you time out in any other game ..you lose, so should happen with pond also

BBW - can a player see how many points the other players have left?

15. prosince 2004, 21:17:29
coan.net
If there are 2 players left, unless they start with the same exact money, then it would be very stupid for the player with the higher amount to bet exactly what the other player has - all he would have to do is bet 1 more point then what the opponenet has left, the opponenet will then drop in the pond and the player with the highest amount is the winner.

I like the rule if you time out, you use the same bet from last round. (just don't tell me who has and has not bet, other wise it would take too much away from the game)

15. prosince 2004, 21:15:59
Bry
2 players make the same bet - my understanding is that if it's the lowest bet, then they both go into the pond, it it's the highest bet no-one gets the 500 extra points, and if it's the last 2 players who bet the same - they both go in the pond and there is no winner.

what happens if the last 2 players make the same bet ? who will win ?

15. prosince 2004, 21:02:19
Jason
if a player times out he automatically uses the same amount of points as in the previous round ,but if theres only two left not sure if that would work .

15. prosince 2004, 20:58:08
Hrqls
hmm ... that might even be more logical yes ... but not sure as those timed out players could have been the lowest bets as well

(what about the end : 2 players are left, player 1 knows he cant win and times out .. player 2 will then be the lowest bet and lose as well)

15. prosince 2004, 20:53:21
Stevie
I would say if you time out..then you should be thrown out of the game. And the game should then still throw out lowest points player also

15. prosince 2004, 20:49:50
Hrqls
hmm i would expect to bet 0 when i dont place a new bet within the time out period ... wouldnt that be more logical ?

15. prosince 2004, 20:23:05

BBW: Ah, forgot that if you didn't make a move, you automatically used the same amount from last turn.

yes but whos going to go back and count all the messages lol thats mad .
ps theres already 25 messages and a stolen lorry in there lolol

15. prosince 2004, 19:40:15
Czuch
Since you can only place a message when you make a move, there is one way to tell who has made a move. Although there is no requirement to write a message with your move, so it doesnt show everyone who has made a move.

Subjekt: Showing who has picked in the pond game
Změněno uživatelem Walter Montego (15. prosince 2004, 19:36:53)
I'm against it. Since you automatically get your last bet if you don't change, it means we've all picked. Knowing someone has bet or not gives the late betters an advantage. True, this can be mitigated by being able to change one's bet, but I'd rather make my pick and wait for the next round. And not start playing a bunch of oneupsmenship with the people that want to work the system when I've already bet and they know my last bet's amount.

15. prosince 2004, 19:07:31
coan.net
Summertop - No, what I'm saying is if a person does not make a bet within the time limit, the system will AUTOMATICLY use the same bet as they used in the previous round.

So if a player bet 50 in round 1, and I see they have not bet yet for round 2 (and does not make a bet before round 2 time limit), it will automaticly bet the same as in round 1, which was 50.

So if I was able to see who has made a current bet, I would be able to get a pretty big advantage by just waiting until the very last minute to put my bet in - 1 point above the lowest known bid that I can see to guarentee that I will make it to the next round.

note: if a player times out before round 1, they are automaticly eliminated.

BBW: That makes a big assumption that people will bet the same amount from move to move. With that in mind...how much is your bet?

how about if you time out you get a random number?

I did not see a way to change your entry, but would love to see that option added. I know I and many others will start to second guess our bids as the game(s) move on.

Fencer - can you change your entry after posting it?

15. prosince 2004, 18:24:39

I would suggest against the "waiting" field in the "run around the pond" game - since in rounds after the 1st round, that will be very important - Take this example:

Player #1 bet 50 in round 1.

In round 2, you see it is almost to the end and he was not moved - well if he does not move, the bet will be the same as in round 1 (50 points), so you could easly just bet 51.

Maybe a general stat like "so far XX players have made a turn" or something like that would be good.

It would be nice if you could also put a link to make a move in the "Your turn in xx games" section on the main page.

I have moved. It would be nice to see who else has already moved. I know you can't show the anount, but maybe another column called "Waiting". If they are waiting, put a little icon in it. If they have moved, leave it blank.

Hrqls: Saying "I don't think nothing on this site is grammatically incorrect." is the same as saying "I do think something on this site is grammatically incorrect." which is not what I was saying at all :-)
