Do you miss something on BrainKing.com and would you like to see it here? Post your request into this board! If there is a more specific board for the request, (i.e. game rule changes etc) then it should be posted and discussed on that specific board.
Subjekt: [OT] strange ... but can me somebody explain this?
I opened brainking.com Main-Page and saw "2 new" standing next to board "Feature requests". I went into the board and saw only one new. Why that? Are there postings hidden or what?
Subjekt: to make the handling of left time trustable again ...
to make the handling of left time trustable again i recommend to print exactly the date and time of every move next to the move.
due to some obscurities i lost the belief in correct handling timeouts here. sorry, I must say that here.
Czuch Chuckers: I am wondering since last weeks why some timeouts were not correctly handled. So I started looking exactly and although the explanation why the timeouts were not correctly handled last week did not came I believe, that the administrator had "forgotten" to remove the two "holidays".
But I know that I will not EXCATLY look at the time, vacation and so on. there are some obscurities.
pauloaguia: Of course it is possible that Fencer wants to rest and therefore ... maybe. But as I know (please correct me, if I am wrong) there is no holiday in Czech Republic or Slowakia.
It would be better if publich holidays will be set with reasons.
I noticed that today is a holiday. Suppose because in the USA is today such a holiday. In terms of equity it should be possible to give each nationality each own holiday.
Or are there another reasons for the holday today ?
Subjekt: When every move is done / how long it takes
Because there are some obscurities in handling timeouts it would be better when next to the move in the move columns the date/time of doing the move is printed and how long it takes.
Subjekt: Re: counter counting our number of moves per day for
reza: I do not know which database Fencer is using for BK, but I am working with several databases (from dBase III+ to Oracle) and I know, that such SUM-operations generate high overhead.
I think it will be possible, but in my opinion the "output" does not justify the "input" in this case.
UzzyLady: I like the idea of a speed rating instead.
You can not have a unique speed rating system because of players and games. Because players you correctly said ... i am from Europe and for playing "live" with e.g. an US-American there is only small time.
Secondly: In some games yoz can play faster, but in some games there is fast playing not so good. E.g. in chess. You are checking the position out, building it up at a real wooden board, thinking, going to bed, looking at position, making move then ... and so on.
Maybe in backgammon or other games you can play faster.
plaintiger: it would be very interesting to discuss this problem deeper, but i think this board is the wrong place for that. let us continue this discussion in another board.

Lamby: why does anyone need to hide on a games site?
all over the world governments are building up and rising supervising systems, looking what people do, collecting data. and they always say: "if you do not have to hide something, you must not worry".
thats always this * argument ... they say it is against terrorism ... but it is against us all.
Fencer: if you use CSS you cannot prevent people from using their own style sheets ... it's easy with mozilla/firefox.
but it would be more W3C-compliant
AbigailII: now, i cannot speak for fencer, but during translation i recognized, that some colors are fixed, e.g. the red color of the amount of unread messages. will be not so easy i think
when a team tournament is running and you have finished all games and your team has finished all games and no change to reach the next round a change to another team is forbidden? that is a little bit hard, isn't it?
Subjekt: new languages - moderators / global moderators
Změněno uživatelem votacommunista (28. května 2005, 21:11:09)
Every language must have his own mod / global mod system, strictly divorced.
Language 1: Global Mods | Mods
Language 2: Global Mods | Mods
...
Language n: Global Mods | Mods
Note: This includes that posting / reading abilities can changed for a user only within the language's boards.
And it should be clear, that ALL actions of moderators / global moderators should be logged.
NOTE: We are discussing in our german speaking community about the following: If in "our" language global mods are needed, we will set all mods to global mods. That means responsibility together.
In fact I think Filip will change the mod system in some way. This is obviously for me - if we continue in this way global mods from other languages will come into other languages, using babbelfisch to translate and then ... NO, THANKS!
pauloaguia: We are building up the German Boards. Fencer created at first only one general (http://brainking.com/game/Board?bc=79) because we german speaking people want to discuss which boards to make and what for a policy. In my opinion (and we are discussing it) the policies should be more strictly used.
What about a feature that marks messages read/unread? background: i am translating into german (finished - but many messages with suggestions, corrections etc. come in) and it would be helpful to mark some messages unread again (as a simple workflow)
maybe interesting for all - not always you can or want answer immidiately
Subjekt: Re: Perpetual draw offers should be prohibited
Caissus: a draw-offer is very useful, a weapon, often used psychologically ... but never perpetually. it is against the game ... maybe not so experienced player or non-chess-players do not understand this ...
fungame: May be a check box "allow draw offers" could be useful for each started game, with default value yes. And perhaps some choice when declining draws could be "decline and ignore further draw offers" or something.
no, a draw offer is often done for checking out what the opponent want ... maybe he will play to win ...
draw offers should be allowed, but not perpetually
Subjekt: Perpetual draw offers should be prohibited
Perpetual draw offers should be prohibited!
In some games my opponent offers every move a draw. What about a feature which stops an every-move-draw-offer and make it available only after 2 moves after the last offer?
rod03801: but the quastion about a "feature complete undercover" is in my opinion on topic here - all right, cloak mode is a feature now, but what about a feature which makes invisible?
JamesHird: now, we all jnow that we do not only work when we are working. between work we are switching to non-working things - e.g. brainking.com - and it can be helpful to do this in an anonymous way :-)

BIG BAD WOLF: in my opinion the cloak feature is lame, because you are seen online. what about a completely undecover function? in some cases this function can be helpful :-)
Hrqls: is it off-topic too that no items are remaining to translate in german? all done ... look at my profile (fencer must activate it, wait a moment) :-)
Now making final beta revision with my army! YEAAAAH!!!!
Hrqls: I am the german translator and my beta testing and reviewing army is marching with messages in my message box ... the ability to make folders or only to mark messages as unread would help
