Subjekt: Fellowship feature requests...
The fellowship I inherited doesn't have much activity in it, and I've been brainstorming on how to get it more active. In the process I've thought of some things that might make that easier to do.

It would be nice if Big Bosses, Managers, and Team Captains (maybe all members in general) had a settings page where they could opt to select being notified (via their message box) of events happening within the fellowship/team. Things like ...

When a tournament, in which one of the fellowship's teams is playing, begins/ends.
When a team challenge begins/ends.
When a fellowship tournament begins/ends.
When a fellowship pond begins/ends.
When a fellowship member wins a tournament outside the fellowship.
When a new fellowship team is created.

From looking at my Fellowship's page, I see that our team is currently playing in the 'Veuve Cliquot' tournament, but only because there is a message at the very bottom of the page that says "You cannot delete the fellowship because one of its teams is currently playing in this team tournament: Veuve Cliquot". Could there be a lists of events, that a team is participating in, somewhere closer to the Team name and list of players? Although one probably could go to the 'Team tournaments' outside the fellowship to find which ones our team is in, I don't see where Team Challenges are listed. Also, having these events listed might be of interest to others in the membership who either aren't on a team, or are on a different team.

Also, for all users, how about an option on one's settings page to not have the "Invite UserID to my fellowship" available on their profile page? It would save people from having to write in their profiles that they don't want such invitations, and would prevent people from having to deal with unwanted invitations in their Message Box.

Nobleheart, I'm not sure why you felt you had to strike out at me with a sarcastic remark. In answer to your reply, I'm not looking for a "chatroom" as you put it, I was just suggesting a notification of New Messages. Another popular games site has this handy feature.

Subjekt: fellowship rankings
could there be a list of fellowship rankings ?
similar to the player rankings

with the new team tournaments there will be a lot more interfellowship matches. this would be a nice way to determine which fellowships/teams are high ranked in which game types.

would it be possible to add such a ranking to fellowships ?

The fellowships pages are getting very crowded. How about a small tab menu like in the Profile pages or in Settings? The options would be Members, Teams, Discussion Boards, Torunaments, etc.

Or since DBs are more dynamic they could be displayed on the main page and the rest separately... I don't know. I'll leave the details for those that can actually use fellowships

A PDA version of this site. When I go to google.ca on my iPAQ I get a special PDA version. When I go to this site it won't let me log on. Would be nice if I could log on even beter if was set up for smaller screen size.

It would be helpful if the bug tracker was searchable. This would help cut down on duplicate reports. Beter yet if when you submit a bug report it automatically searches and tryes to find duplicates and asks if they are the same before submiting the report.

Subjekt: “practice board”
Because most of us have not a real board of all games at home it would be useful if we could have a “practice board” which can be used as a board to analyze the game and to play the moves forwards and backwards.

Subjekt: Re: “practice board”
redfrog: Only problem with this idea is it is normally when playing a game in real life you have to play out the senarios in your head. Having a board to play them out on is kind of like using another program to help you win. I think this would be a useful feature for past games. Have the ability for players to save the point at which they have figured out they can't lose and let other players try to figure out how they did it.

Where we can freely move the pieces as if we had a woodden board and pieces.

Hence no need to complicate the Fencer's task with a link to the 'mechanism' of a particular game or variant but only to the shape of the board and pieces.

Subjekt: It would be very helpful to some people...
if there was an option to decline an invitation to a non-stairs/non-tournament/non-club-challenge game especially when it is obvious when the person doing the inviting did not read the profile of the person they are inviting or they would not have invited the invitee that particular type of game. I just had this happen where someone invited me and I cannot find a way to decline the game without playing it out and I do not see it as being very fun for either of us because of my difficulty with this particular type of game and my ability for that type of game and its variants wavers unpredictably from bad to just terrible depending on how my autoimmune disorders are playing with my brain (most games other than chess and its variants are somewhat easier for my brain to keep up with for some reason maybe because all of the pieces move in the same way as all of the other pieces as the other pieces aka all checkers pieces move on diagonals while in chess rooks move in a different way from a bishop etc). This is not a complaint about how the chess games are played because they are ancient games that are played in the same ways all over the world, just stating the facts about my ability to play them and my seeing a need to be able to decline an invite before the game is started like I have seen as an option on other sites.

(Go)
One of the oldest board games known, Go originated in China as early as 2000 B.C., according to some sources. The goal is to control territory on the board by placing stones. There is regular Go (GX) played on a 19x19 size board, and the easier 9x9 (G9) and 13x13 (G3) versions. Basic rules provide only a brief introduction to help the beginner get started. Takes in depth study to get the hang of.

This is truly my favorite board game, but unfortunately it's not at this site. Maybe you guys can check into it. It's the toughest among all the stone games, not only the most fun to play.

ΜīήďSрŷ: Go is already being developed and the game models are virtually finished (capturing, ko and other rules work well). The only problem is the final score counting which is not solved yet (detecting of live and dead groups, territory counting).

Subjekt: Re: The game of (Go).
Fencer: Go is coming! This is truly good news. Can you tell us which rule set (Japanese, Chinese, American,...) will be implemented?

Is it necessary to have the code detect live and dead groups? Even if all stones were counted as alive, in practice this would just require the players to contine playing until any dead stones were captured. Better yet, you could use the procedure recommended by the rules of the American Go Association, in which each player indicates which of his opponent's stones he believes are dead, and if they disagree, they play on.

Subjekt: Re: The game of (Go).
Fencer: Fair enough. Certainly the code needs to be able to count territory if it's going to determine who is the winner. Identifying dead stones, though, is a separate issue, and counting all stones as alive doesn't necessarily break the game. But I'm sure you'll come up with a good system, and I can be patient. :)

One more question, and then I'll leave you alone:
Will Black play first, as is standard in Go?

Změněno uživatelem TJuTZu (15. března 2006, 13:41:05)
I would like to see additional filter in tournaments listing based on Time Control & BKR & possible to sign up.

Personnally I prefer to play only +5 days games and it would ease game finding if I could define that I wan't to see only games where I have more than five days for move and I am able to sign up.

Currently I need to go into each game just to see that my BKR is too low or I don't have enough brains to join the game.

Změněno uživatelem TJuTZu (15. března 2006, 13:37:54)
I would like to see a possibility create automatic filter & notifier which notify me when ever there is a new tournamet available corresponding my predefined criteras (see my previous post)

Example: I could create rule that I would like to receive message from all backgammon games where the move time is more than 5 days and I am able to join the game. BKR is suitable, not full already...

Actually it could be additional functionality in find tournaments. --> Send notify.
