Nirvana: Great stuff!!! Especially Dire Straits, and Fleetwood Mac. I recently caught a concert with Fleetwood Mac, all of them gray of hair (Stevie's was blonde, but as she says, "women usually are"), and still rocking and rolling. There is a DVD out, and right now I can't remember the name of it, but what a trip! I have some of the music from that show on my machine. I have since gone out to pick up that concert. It's Live in Boston. And, here's a cut from it....
And, Knoffler. How young he was. I don't think anyone on that stage was straining to put out soooooooooo much sound. Thanks for doing that for us.
Jim Dandy: That was a walk down memory lane. And, you are right about music music being a language in it's own rite. Perfect example of how it can transcend cultural differences as well.

Nirvana: For the trivia buffs out there.Anne Murray was Elvis's favorite female singer. He even covered SNOWBIRD......Interesting additional story behind this song.It was released during the cold war,a number of people in the US military had suspicios minds regarding its intent. Some thought it was recorded by Canadian communist allies with the intent of having it played as a signal for attack on strategic American installations.Upon hearing this rumor Elvis stopped performing the song in public, and had The Colonel ask radio stations to also cease playing his version.

Jim Dandy: I don't know either. They had a LOT of talent. Maybe it was as simple as marketing. We didn't understand back then you couldn't just be good, you had to have a publicist, or spend a lot of your time doing that. They had the sound alright.

Mousetrap: I didn't know who George Michael was, so I went out and watched all I could stand. I didn't see anything worth £75. That's my opinion only, of course. I'd also be interested in what others say. Keep in mind, USers, £75 converts to a little over $148 today. Whew! I don't think I'd pay that to see any mainstream show.
Jules: Thanks very much for that website Jules! I was at my mam,s for a few days and she lives near the new stadium in Manchester. George Michael was performing there Last Friday night. Me and my mam had been to the hosp` and got a taxi back. People were looking for places to park their cars to go and see him and the Taxi driver was telling my mam what was going on and said his last passenger had paid £75 to go see him. I think that is outrageous myself. Is it really worth paying that much to go and see him? What does anyone else think?
