I caught Joe Kubek on Pandora today, and thought him really great, then I find he's another home boy.  If you can fit yourself into any of these dates, you're in for a treat.  You can hear samples on Amazon, but DO check it out.  Anybody aware of Bugs Henderson?

Cirrusly, it's good to see ya.  You've been gone a long time!

Ran across Rob Tognoni Band today.  And, his fingers never leave his hands.  Just another Strat boy.

This may explain why you never heard of them, but Deacon Blue.  This page also explains the Steely Dan connection.

I had never heard of them, but when you wrote Deacon Blue, I was sure I had.  Like you, I was thinking of the Steely Dan lyrics.

Oh yeah!  Did you remember all the lyrics?  Hmmmm?  I DID!  I had this sudden realization.....while he is always right on with the lyrics (no liberties), you never know what the tune will be.  The band, waaaaaay more anal than the artist himself carries the tune, but the man takes all kinds of liberties.  Can't sing?  Sure he can!  It's just a different tune every time.  He IS consistant with the key, I suppose because he can't argue with the band - and his fingers go to the same strings with no thought from him.

What a nice visit.  At one point, I invisioned sitting at a table with my friend the guitar player in LA, and holding up a sheet of paper to him with the name of THAT song on it, and saying, "Our play list." Hahahaha!

Thanks, Nirvana.  It's always nice to be reminded who you are.

I'm going to leave it, it's there to make a point in the conversation.  I believe everyone knows who owns the copyright, but I will look for it and post it later.

Well, you can't mistake those lyrics.  I believe I do remember all that, and I was actually surprised he know what high was.  He was so clean-cut, and "regular" looking.  Hmmmmm, fire in the sky, was he having visions of his own death?

Two flicklettes of Ry Cooder's concert in Santa Cruz in 1987, and another performance with a couple of his play mates.  We didn't mention him in the guitarist list.  According to Wikipedia (in case you don't read the small print).  "Rolling Stone magazine named Ry Cooder the 8th Greatest Guitarist of All Time in their "100 Greatest Guitarists" list.  How about that for accolades?

Ry Cooder solo - Jesus Is On The Mainline .

Same tune but with a band - has a bit (?) of a gospel taste.  (Take your pick - but I am obsessed enough to have watched both.)  Regardless of the volitility of the subject matter, you've probably never heard a mandolin played quite like this.  Big band too - be sure to check out the guy on keyboards.  Has to be a PhD in music, who dresses for success.  Oh....Sister Texas....it's a big band alright, and there are lots of hunks to watch.  Be sure to have your tissues handy to catch the drool (I traded tissues for a bucket).  Maybe we need to invite those guys to sing back up at our next girlie retreat?  Or, would we have too much fun?

Crazy 'Bout An Automobile includes none other than Flaco Jimenez.

And, here's Ry with a couple of playmates, John Hiatt, and Nick Lowe doing She Runs Hot

Now, SURELY everybody knows Ry Cooder.  He's been undercover for some years now, and he's taken on a whole bunch of special projects.  He's had some really interesting ones, including the Crossroads film.  IF you've never seen this film, PLEASE take some time to learn about it, and be prepared to have your musical awareness raised with this one.  Amazon has it.  It's been out a while, but still stands alone as one of the biggest music projects ever!  OK, OK, IMHO!  As a matter of fact, let's make it 4 flicklettes, and watch this little guitar duel .  Just a little appetizer.

I bought my first Kate Bush tape in 1984.  It was pretty new, been out about a year.  Somehow, I got the idea she was married for a while to Peter Gabriel.   They appeared together a lot, and collaborated on a lot of music back then.  While I didn't find anything about that when I went looking to affirm, or dispute my recollection, I found out a couple of interesting things on Wikipedia.  I didn't know she had an affiliation with David Gilmour.  I quote from Wikipedia, "In March 1987, Bush sang "Running Up That Hill" at The Secret Policeman's Third Ball, with David Gilmour on guitar.....  In January 2002, Bush appeared with David Gilmour singing "Comfortably Numb" at Festival Hall In London, England."  OMG!  "Comfortably Numb" - only my favorite song - well one of them.

Lovely, MadAprilHare.  And, thank you for the rose.  I just never caught her.  But, she has a beautiful voice, and the song is well worth a listen.

Maybe since I live in Texas - about as south as you can get, and the Snowshoe Hares live in Northern U.S. and Canada, I wasn't familiar with the animal either.  This is why we have the Internet - free exchange of wonderful music, culture, and critters.

Dylan and Baez:  Lovely, took me back a generation or two.  I wonder when that was made?  Anyone know?  That is one question, but it can be interchanged with, how do those people look so YOUNG?  Hahaha!  Thanks, Nirvana for that.

Angel:  I was around in the 70s, but evidently Angel didn't make it into my consciousness.  Interesting band, true.  Were they around for a while?  I got married in 1970, maybe I was busy.  Haha!  I got unmarried in '83, at which time I became busier.  Too bad about the end of the clip.  I wonder why people do that?  Is there a time limit on UTube?

Rare Earth:  They DID get through to me, I loved that song.  It's rare, in my experience anyway, for the drummer to sing.  At least the person who submitted the clip had the courtesy to fade it out rather than just cutting it off in mid-stream.

Jefferson Airplane:  White Rabbit:  my favorite song from one of my favorite bands of all time.   But then, Alice in Wonderland is also one of my favorite stories.  You know, I think most children of the 60s have "been there"...to Wonderland.  I still have visuals of the first live performance of that story I ever saw.  What a grand set, and the costumes were rich with color and texture.  I guess that makes the song come even more alive for me.

Jethro Tull:  What can be said?  Ian Anderson has certainly stayed in the forefront.  He does better on the U.K. charts of late than on the U.S. charts.  I love Aqualung, and Thick as a Brick.  I also commend him/them for their international interests.  They've sounded almost celtic at times in their history.  Did you know he has had two #1 hits on the U.S. Charts?  First was Thick as a Brick, and the other was A Passion Play.

Curved Air/BackStreetLuv:  Welcome, Mad March Hair - white rabbit as you portray yourself.  I believe I've heard of Curved Air, but it's been a while.  Interesting little file on Wikipedia.  If the tune branches out from there, I'd probably like it.  But, the pace at the beginning might get tedious over the time of a whole song.  Can you help me out here?

You know, no one has the vibrato Orbison had.  His music is wonderful, and lots of people have their own interpretations, but he is the original.  In Dreams is just lovely.

And, what can be said of Manamana?  It's funny all the time.  All I have to do is sing one "Manamana", and it cheers me up.
