I subscribe to a website called Lockergnome, and amazing place that keeps you (well me anyway lol) in contact with technology.
Most the stuff i look at on there, or via there free newsletter is Computer related.
Just a thing that i got in todays newsletter was an article about a problem i am sure many of you multi-computer users come across.

I repair and build computers, so when i am sitting here i have at least 3 PC's on and obviously keyboards to access them. So this short article Attention Keyboard designers was quite interesting and very true

MadMonkey: I use a KVM (Keyboard/VGA/Mouse) +USB switch for that purpose. The only difference is that it's an extra device and not built into the keyboard...

is there a way i can make the print larger on ie7 and will it stay larger for every site i go to? i definitely need new glasses but til then i need help.

ellieoop: 2 things you can do.

If you have a scroll wheel on your mouse, you can hold down CTRL key and scroll the mouse.

Or in the "View" menu bar, choose text size and increase it.

coan.net sorry, i forgot to say that i have a laptop and i don't have a mouse, i use the track pad.

coan.net: where is the view menu bar? is it under tools, i can't find it. i'm glad i know how to play the games.

rod03801: i went to ff and found it on top left, i clicked view and increase, but it's not easy to find on ie7. at least i can't find it. i'll have too stay on ff til i can find it on ie.

ellieoop: Oh yea, forgot the menu bar is not there by default in IE7

Up near the top in IE7 (next to the tab for example), right click and choose "Menu Bar"

At that point, the menu bar will be there so you can choose View, and font size.

coan.net: the right click did the trick, i made it larger, it's so much better. will it stay bigger on both browsers or do i have to change it each time i open the browser?

wetware: thank you, it worked. i hope it stays like this.

MadMonkey: There are two ways for my device: First, there is a button on the front which cycles through the plugged computers, or I can use a keyboard shortcut (It's two time scroll lock [have you ever used that key?]) for that. It then gives you an accustic feedback. I think every KVM switch has these two ways of switching, just the shortcuts may vary, Ctrl+NumLock is often used I think. Of course, I never use the button on the device's front, it's just too much movement ;-) And with the keyboard shortcut I can put the switch under the desk so it doesn't even get into my way.

I just downloaded Opera and I cannot get any images in that browser, and now I cannot get immages inside my gameboard on IE 7

Vikings: It's not you...it's BK... the general chat board is showing similar problems.... I can't load pics or gameboards either.

Vikings: Seems to be happening to a lot of people right now. Maybe everyone? In Firefox, at the bottom of my screen it just keeps saying "Waiting for img.brainking.com" .. I've never see that before. Maybe because normally it only flashes, because it's normally fast?

Vikings: hmmm, my pages are loading in between 1 and 2 seconds, and all look fine, except there are a couple of peoples pictures that arent showing, including mad monkeys and nickles on here right now

i have had that problem as well as i am using IE7. the thing that works for me is refreshing the page and it seems to clear up.

Firefox has a spellchecker that underlines misspelled words in red. It works for me almost everywhere but here. I was wondering if it works here for others or not?

volant: It doesnt work here for me either but in all other sites that I type in it does work well. I never understood why it didn't work here. I find it really helpful since Im horrible with punctuation as all who read my message can tell!

volant: There is a Google toolbar spell checker that works fine in here and everywhere else as well. It underlines the misspelled words too!

Just typing in the normal text box, NON-rich text editior - spell check works fine for me

Look - I mispelled editor in the above sentence - and mispelled is not spelled correctly either.

It has been 10 years or more since I used a free website outfit.. But if you go to Google and type in free websites or something similar like free homepages, you will find what you need. Back in the day there was Geocities, Homestead, Angelfire, Tripod.. No clue if those still exist anymore or if they do if they are still free!

How is hdtv as a computer monitor, for viewing pictures etc?

Can you use the picture in picture option to surf the web and watch tv at the same time?

Okay, i have messed around a bit today... its not my font size, but my images, like the icons on my desk top etc, are all too big (or bigger than they were) I used to be able to use the large backgammon board option, but now it doesnt display on one screen.

Can someone help me to get back to where I used to be?

the print on my screen (only at BK) has gone very small...I know there is a way of making it bigger by using the scroll ball on your mouse but I cant remember how to do it.......sorry

Okay, I have spilled red wine on my lap top.... I know, dont say anything wize please...... anyway, any advice on a doityourself cleaning?

No, i dont have it covered under warranty, nor did I purchase accidental damage insurance, but maybe it would be covered under my homeowners, or since I use it for work, my business insurance?

I was thinking I could pull some of the keys off and spray it down with purified water or something? Any ideas and a quick tutorial on how? Thanks!

BTW, IT does not power on, this is a cafe computer I am on now!

Puckish: I'm sorry to say this, but cleaning the gunk off is the least of your problems. Your computer is dead. The wine caused a short-circuit, and this fried your computer. It may not be repairable. You may have to buy a new computer.

nametoolongtofi: I was going to say the same thing but didnt want to spoil his New Year....I dont think the laptop is very old either :(

Bernice: Thanks,thats what I thought.... I did read somewhere online where someone did the same thing and they removed the battery and unplugged it straight away, then spritzed it with water, to dilute the wine I guess, and then dried it with the blow dryer, and after a couple of days they nplugged it back in and it was fine! I also read where someone actually dried theirs in the oven, and it worked as well.

But Mine didnt get any immediate attention, and I was not told about it at all for a day or two :(


Anyway, you are correct Bernice, my laptop was only about 7 months old, thats about $1,200 down the drain, except I still have my wireless mouse and a few other accesories that I can still use.



Does anyone here buy accidental damage insurance? It seems like a waste of money until something like this happens!
