Dolittle: Did your weather change at all? Sometimes if we plant too early we lose some buds.Right now we got hit with a cold spell at nite so i'm waiting to see what happens.
nobleheart: no thats not it ... the flower its self is orange and yellow and it is a single bloom and it is shaped exactly like a piece of candy corn and its a large bloom bout the size of a day lily
nobleheart: here's a very interesting site for learning to identify plants by features. which isn't quite the same as identifying them right out, but which should be of more interest to members of this fellowship who don't already know how to do this.

Foxy Lady: yes Ms. Fox. i read someone else's saying they talk to people all over the world and everybody's experiencing it. it's the way some people have been carelessly messing with the environment, i'm sure.
I have a question,i have a huge wavy petunia.I should say was huge thats dying on me.Flowers are turning brown,i think i overwatered it but i'm not sure.I thought the chilly nites got it but i see others that left there flowers out and look great. Thought about calling the florists that i bought it from.My question is will it recover? I'm sick over it this plant was huge now it looks awful,it still has some flowers.

Foxy Lady:
I know exactly what happened. We've had lots of rain and rain makes the blooms of petunias turn to mush. All you need to do is pinch off those mushy flowers and it will send out new blossoms in a few days. Petunias usually need a lot of water, but their flowers can't take the beating a heavy rain does to them. Don't worry...it is not dying, just needs a little TLC to force new blooms
ajtgirl: Not only does it look like mush its really stragly. It looks like awful, talk about being upset.I bought it at my florist so you can take a guess what i paid for it.Only a few blossums are on it.I'll cut it back today and see what happens.Next time i'll stick with my grocery store.
Foxy Lady: Once you nip the buds off it will bloom up again. If you can move it indoors or away from strong rain next time that will help. I have mine in a huge wooden wagon looking pot so it is hard to lug it around. but I will at least put it on the deck next big rain. Mine only just opened up last week too, but we still have the entire summer for em
Dolittle: Likely the links posted below by clever hunk. Do if you put your screen resolution to 1024x768 you'll find that will eleminate having to scroll left to right. Sounds like you are in 800x600
Ms. Fox: or perhaps if You can't or don't want to move Yours You could put something over it to shelter and protect it when it rains? a translucent tarp held up with some kind of sticks or a trellis-like rig or something, maybe? something to serve as an instant and temporary greenhouse.
i'm sure if such a thing is commonly done, Ms. ajtgirl will be able to tell You about it...
Who is this Clever Hunk? Sounds like a guy I would like to meet
Foxy Lady:
You may need to cut that wave petunia back hard now to encourage new growth at the base of the stems...by cutting off the long stragly or leggy ones, it will send out new shoots lcloser to the roots which will create more blossoms for you. After you cut it back, feed it.
Good luck...what color are the flowers?...mine are pale pink
Foxy Lady: Glad it's coming back to life! Mine did too. I have bright pink flowers on the one I have. I never imagined they would be so fragile. Course I haven't seen this much rain here in ages. We have had hard rain for 8 days with only half a day of sun in between. Can you say prune fingers? LOL
Did you check to see if the stems or branches on the sick side got crushed or damaged? Petunias are so delicate that just a little pressure can damage the stems and they don't recover. Maybe you need to cut it back a little more on that side.
If I could see it I might have a better idea. As Tiger said, at least it's perking up on one side already. That's a start!
ajtgirl: I'll say this before i pay for it(I have an account with the Florist i'm bringing it in to her.)I bought another one at the grocery store and it's doing great. Our weather is not good it's 49 this morning for June. What a bummer our garden were just waiting on.

spicieangel: Did some research and found this:- Along with its ease of growth, Lucky Bamboo has long been associated with the Eastern practice of Feng Shui - Lucky Bamboo is believed to be an ideal example of the thriving wood and water element, with the addition of a red ribbon sometimes tied around the stalks - which is believed to "fire" the positive flow of energy. The number of stalks also has meaning : three stalks for happiness; five stalks for wealth; six stalks for health. Four stalks, however, are always avoided. Hope this helps.

wow...and the article skip referenced also says this:
Known for centuries as Lucky Bamboo, the plant is not a bamboo at all (botanical name: Dracaena) but a resilient member of the lily family that grows in the dark, tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia and Africa.
skipinnz: thanks so much thats exactly what i wanted to know, mine is so pretty and i love the pot its in its kind of blue and brown swirled together with a tiny tiny chin man with a fishing pole and itty bitty fish dangling from it it looks so nice on my coffee table
