LJ - Yep, I'm playing - I read the boards while I wait for my slow connection to submit the move and display the board back to me. :-)

Thema: Re: Bernice's Fellowship
If its not obvious, LongJohn, then it may be a private matter? And probably not one best discussed here. If it really had to be discussed on a public board then the fellowship board is the place.

coan.net
Actually I think the first step would to ask the user to leave the fellowship. As long as there is a reason, I would think some users would leave on their own. If they refuse to leave, then that would be the time to ask Fencer.

I think there will be the option to remove them ourselves once BK2 is up and running Bernice, until then, the only way is as Cariad has said :o)

It's your fellowship, Bernice! If you don't want a particular person in there - get rid of them. They play by your rules, or else!

Bernice, if you want someone removed from your fellowship send a message to Fencer and he will remove them.

It is my personal preference to invite people to my fellowship, but......
do I not have the option to be able to "send someone on their way"???

(to add to MM's post) - Just have the person who deleted the invite to go to the main fellowship page.

Since they never accepted or declined the invite (just deleted the message) - they just have to go there and accept.

Go to your main fellowship page and it will have a place to accept or deny their membership

Thank you Antje for your help.It will described the two possiblities to play chess (or other games)in the internet (My impression is that to play chess in the internet and special at a chessserver is not prevalent in my (only?) country):
1."real-time",an good example is USCL, or 2."turn-based" with Brainking as an example, where you can play chess and chessvariants too.
In the second part there will described the "Three Checks Chess" as an nice chessvariant with some games (The most chessplayers know only the standard chess and not the varants).Perhaps I will continue to describe the other variants too..

Caissus is probably (not probably,i should say definately!) a better translator, but roughly translated it talks about Chess sites on the internet, and the part about brainking says:
"its a very nice turn-based site out of Czech. where you can play up to 20 games for free, and the graphics are excellent, it discusses the variations available on the site, it discusses its own rating system for each variant, and its discussion boards. its a very nice positive advertisement :o)

Thema: Interview with.....
...........Zetes!!

Send me your questions for the very first paying member on BrainKing! I have played Zetes a lot, and know very little about him (except that he's a perfect gentleman) so I'll be looking forward to this one!
Don't forget to add if your name can be added to your question, or if you want it anonymous. Its nice to see now that more people are allowing their names to be put with their questions! And I think the questions are getting more adventurous too now people have seen how its working. So keep the questions coming!

Me thinks Whisperz you both protest too much. To belittle means to put down as YOU HAVE done to me.. I do not belittle any board. You are in fellowships, DON'T you play games in those fellowships? fencer asked for an end so this is my end to it all. Go bark up someone elses tree for a while Whisperz.

Okay, let's finish this neverending topic.
Only paying members can become discussion board moderators. This is a new rule, not a subject to discuss.

Oh, to live in a world where you can pay to be free ... nuff sed.

I play here because I enjoy it, but I also enjoy and stay because of many of the other activities as do you, so just because you do not write stories do not belittle the enjoyment this brings others. To be consistent then I guess you will need to be resigning from the following fellowships as they are not primarily for "games" or are you going to let these slip through to the keeper too?

This is a game site not a story site, not a joke site, not a poetry site. I do not think a story board is in any way a contribution to the game site. Sorry it is still a free country where I live and I am entitled to my opinion on that! Honesty or not, when a site needs money to run and we are all made aware of this by the site owner and someone says well I wont contribute to help keep the site running, then YES call me what ever you wish to call me.

4. Feburar 2004, 14:48:02
WhisperzQ
Not all contributions need to be financial ... if life is based solely on money then I expect it is probablay pretty soulless ... I guess you are then saying that the pawn's contribution to this site had no value which I think is really a poorer reflection on you than her honesty in admitting she would prefer to buy a new DVD.

4. Feburar 2004, 14:14:23
Rose
Whisperz, I will take all the heat you wanna send my way. What if all us players decided to buy DVD's instead of renewing here? Great for us, NOT so great for the good of the site though is it? So you point fingers at me for saying "I have questioned why a pawn is moderator of a board. I don't get why. I thought being a moderator was a plus or privelage for those who helped to pay for the site?"

Thats fine by me. You stand on your podium and fight for someone who blatantly refused to help support the site all you want. DO you know all the facts before you start your crusade?
Had this person NOT said she would rather spend money on other things then help support the site none of us would have been up in arms over her moderating a board!

4. Feburar 2004, 11:01:59
Stevie
I dont see why the pawn couldnt have carried on doing the moderating :o( They were contributing to the site in their own way, I hope it doesnt mean they wont become a paying member in the future

Thema: Re: Hail the Queen of the dagger, the pawn is deposed
i personally dont mind who is a moderator of a board whether its a pawn or not , if someone has the time and willing to put some effort into it that should be a good thing . i wouldnt like to do it myself though i wouldnt be calm enough when people tried to spoil things .

Thema: Hail the Queen of the dagger, the pawn is deposed
No Eriisa, Rose's joke has been activated and the pawn has been deposed. Well done Rose, let's all give her a *clap*.

Here was someone who showed some initiative, suggested an option which would make this site better and offered to freely help Fencer out by moderating the board thus reducing the pressure on Fencer's time so he could get on with more important issues. There were a number of times where she withstood some grief from people who resented her "moderating" of unsuitable material and a number of times wanted to quit. (That should have made you happy Rose!) At times the threats and content of pms was very unsavoury ... but she continued, with the help of her friends. It is good to see this conflict has abated and the board returned to normality. She continued to guide the board's development but that is no more.

One of the reasons I came to this site, and stayed, and paid, was the variety of people who you meet here, their acceptance of your views at face value and that competition is keen but friendly. There have been others who have not held these views but we (all?) hope that they are now gone. If this is the way we are to treat a pawn who is trying to improve the site then what is to encourage any other pawns.

When you check you will find that I moderate a number of chess boards, a task I took on because Fencer originally needed some help, not as a reward for paying (I think I was a pawn at that time myself). If we are to follow Rose's lead then maybe all Discussion Board's moderatorrial rights can be rescinded and Fencer can auction them off to the highest bidder ... maybe the site can make some more money from this.

But to close, let us give Rose one more *clap*

and so these are the days of our BrainKing lives. Each board tends to be a soap opera. Why watch them on TV? Just come here to play and you can find one on some board.

I didn't say it was fair, just that that is most likely the reason.

I would think its because the moderator of the story board is a pawn, so unable to do her job if she can't post there.
