Why is there no doubling cube used in BG for the 5 point matches?

The points are how many "spaces" you have left to go in the game, so yes - the least amount of point you have in most cases, they better you are.

How would you know that he did this without going to your game, which would have brought the dice up anyway?

So you think he decided what rolls you were going to get? (since you're calling it cheating)

17. September 2004, 21:46:13

well it seems to not be doing it now...i can't get the dice to roll in any game i tried...so if you tried to fix it i reckon you did.....and VNV nation.....it was cheating when he did it because it was at a VERY critical point in the games and he wound up getting me doubles 5's and then did it again and got me a 5-2 which sent 2 of his pieces back because i was barred..hard to explain the circumstances but he knew he wanted to see what i was going to get for dice so he rolled them for me....i'm glad it's not doing it anymore....thanks

Plus I just looked at your only anti-backgammon game where it is your opponents turn and I can not see the dice of his either (as myself or guest)

17. September 2004, 20:16:11
coan.net
Mamba - I just tested this and I can not find this bug at all, and it looks like it is fixed to me

Here is what I found:
Player 1 invites player 2 to a anti-backgammon game, player 2 accepts.

Guest looks - see's no dice yet

Player 1 looks at game, sees dice of 5-2, and loses first roll, submits.

Guest looks at game and see's the 5-2 roll

Player 2 vies games, and moved 5-2 and submits

Guest views game, can only see 5-2

Player1 views games, see's new roll of 6-2, moves and submits

Guest views game and only sees roll of 6-2

.... and so on, and so on

===================

The only thing I can think about the games you posted about below is that they had already looked at the board but did not make a move yet. If you look at other games in the same tournament (as a guest), you will find that you can not see the dice.

you don't understand that that's what i'm saying...YES....i tripped the dice in those 3 games of hers.. intentionally ......so i could explain what's happening....do you see the bigger dice..???...those are the ones that wern't there till i clicked on her games...now the dice are there and those are what she gets..period..!!....she can't say...i don't want those...i didn't roll that.....it's there..NOW....and that's what i don't like about the way it works here for dice...somebody rolls my dice when i'm not here and i don't like it...i'll play dice games at IYT...there's other games i like here...did i explain ok this time...lol

17. September 2004, 14:28:05

then i must be an idiot too , guest mode or not i cant see the differance if your looking at the game you must have "tripped the dice"

17. September 2004, 14:01:23
Joseph S
ok...i just went and looked at Aissi's games...3 of them..anti-gammon....in game #452127 with msdelete..move#76 she'll get a double 2....in a game with jason..game#449718..move #7...she'll get a 5-2....in another game with jason...move #78 i think..she'll get a 5-3...those are all moves that are yet to be made by aissi...all i did was click on her games and ..boom...there's the dice she's going to use next time...have a look at the games...so if you log-into any games other than in the guest mode your rolling the dice for that game...if you still don't know what i'm talking about than your an idiot...lol

17. September 2004, 13:46:33
Joseph S
you mean i'm the only one that knows this..???....if you click on somebodys game..a dice game...your rolling the dice for them at that instant...you don't see that....???..i do....and when i come to the site before i log-in i look at my games in the "guest" mode to see what kind of moves people made and what i shoould be hoping for in the way of dice ....but i can see if somebodys already rolled my dice or not..they'll be there bigger than the small dice that have already been used by the other player.....so any game you look at by clicking on that game other than in the 'guest' mode is rolling the dice for those players...and that nemo dude seems to make a habit of rolling other people dice...

16. September 2004, 23:28:09

Nobody dice the rolls, the dice are automatically rolled in the moment that a player click on the "move" button!

Again, how do you know someone else is "rolling your dice"?

I mean according to the Bug Tracker ( Bug #54), This was already fixed. So PLEASE let us know how someone is still rolling your dice that way we can update the bug tracker and get the problem fixed.

Thema: Re:
I’ve to reply to your message...again.
First, what you are saying now it’s very different from the other messages that you sent me, because you accused me TO MAKE YOUR MOVES and TO CHEAT the games. That is an accusation that I’ll not allow you to do.
Second, if you have a problem with me you should talk to me first and wait to know my answer. Besides that you are lying about it, because you sent me the first message on 8. September 2004, 13:27:45 and you put a message here, 3 minutes later on 8. September 2004, 13:30:53, without let me see yours in the game or replying to it.
Third, i never said that i did not see your games, or other games, because they are public and anyone at anytime can see it. Play private if you don’t want to show yours.
Fourth, i learn how to play some games by seeing others playing. It’s not illegal, or against the rules.
Fifth, in gammon games everybody can see the last move and the dice roll for the next move, but THEY CANNOT CHOOSE THE DICE. Computer program is the one who make the dice roll, not me or anybody else.
Sixth, i do not know if a player can generate the dice roll or if the dice are already generated and it shows only when a person sees the game, and if it is different if it rolls at 01.00 am or at 05.00 pm. I don’t know either if anybody saws my games before i play it and if it does i really don’t care about it.
Seventh, supposing the dice rolls only when the first person sees the game, it’s still completely indifferent because you cannot know if the dice roll, is better or worst.
At last, your other remarks in your message like “dice god”, “bozo” and others, are totally stupid to be commented. Grow up kid!

yes this has ocuured to me.i have been testing a few games on a backgaamon board re these 2 ways:
it refreezes
it does not re-freeze..unless hit on by ANOTHER opponents blot.
it seems the 2nd way makes for a more logical game.
although, this makes it a bit more complicated than I originally thought.

My question would be

1) how do you know someone else (a guest) "tripped" your dice?

2) Why would it matter - can a person actually make the dice roll differently or in a certain way by doing this?

I mean to me, if the dice are rolled randomly now, or later - it will give me the same result both times - random dice.

does anybody know if what Mamba is saying is a load of rubbish or true ? , if someone can "trip" the dice wouldnt it just be the same roll that the person playing the game would have rolled anyway .

hey buddy i told you when we were playing the game to quit tripping my dice ...AND YOU DID'T....in fact you tripped the dice in all my games...i sat and watched you do it from the sign-in page without logging in.. so don't try and act like you didn't ...!!....it's too bad the site works that way about half the game we played i never got to roll my own dice because you had already tripped the dice before i returned to make another move....let's ask this question...why does it trip the dice just by looking at someone elses games here...???...that's what your doing loooking at other peoples games is screwing up their games just so you can ..."learn and get better"...yeah right....like i believe that line of hooey...you think i was born yesterday ...you knew you were tripping the dice in all those games and probably smiled doing it and felt like some kind of dice god....i still think your a bozo .....just get better looking at your own games and leave everybody elses ALONE....nobody likes you rolling the dice for them ..it's their games let them roll the dice for themselves....do like i do and look at other peoples games ..BEFORE you log-in so you don't trip the dice in the game your wanting to see...

This could become mind boggling, what if the original frozen piece had the opponents piece on it when at the next turn the original player was able to land on the same spot again would this then have 2 blue pieces, then could the opposition land on it etc etc.

those were the 2 questions I had

13. September 2004, 22:39:01

Also what happens if a second piece should land on it whilst it is frozen. Does this re-freeze it?

13. September 2004, 22:35:24

so the capturing piece remains on top of the frozen piece? What if it's still on top when the piece thaws out?

13. September 2004, 21:22:25
nobleheart
I have thought about this.it need not be ANY different from backgammon, except that instead of removing a blot,it turns blue,is frozen for 2 moves(as for space availability, stacking blots is not a problem, same as usual backgammon).on the 3rd move, the blot returns to its regular color & can be moved.what you think?

Thema: Re: Rolling My Dice
I think your dirty message needs an appropriate answer:
First, a public game can be seen for anybody. I use to see games from other people, because it’s a way of learning and improving the way I play, as well. If you watch some, you might learn something…
Second, if you don’t want your games to be seen, play private games.
Third, I don’t have and I don’t need to have another nick to watch another games.
Fourth, before you make an accusation, be sure you have proves. Cheating is making anything against the rules and none of what I’d done is illegal or against regulations.
Fifth, if you have a problem with me, act like a man, say it first and politely or write to the owner of the site, like I did.
Sixth, call bozo to the guy you see everyday at the mirror.

I think the attack is more important, but you need at least 2 anchors to survive, IMHO. Connectivity seem to be paramount.

Not sure if this is more skilled than B/NG, but I guess I'll have to play some more games to find out. :)

fencer,I know this isnt the place for this..but just like crowded backgammon..I have another inspiration for a new backgammon variation.
how about frozen backgammon.
played exacly like backgammon, except instead of a hit blot being sent back to the bar.
it changes colour to blue & is frozen(that is cant make a move)for 2 turns..and then can move on the 3rd turn after being frozen.
what do you think?

Sorry for the delay Steve.
It's not a bad idea. Maybe if you post it to Backgammon discussion board, some more experienced players than me would show their opinions.

but you are proposing a rule change. Honor surely applies to playing within the rules. On the other hand one could argue that the rules are those in place on the site, so ignoring the higher dice is within the rules and therefore not dishonorable.
