volant: yeah ... but not through the wall,
a prince might drop from plop - and I have been kissing princesses

with six people on hide it's hard to guess.
but I think I expressed my opinion to the subject sufficiently:
not the very highest priority, to me - but let the sparrows sing ... ~*~ .
It would be nice to have a list that moderators could use, to be able to keep track of "troublesome" members on the boards that they moderate. When these members are active on a board, the moderator needs to be especially vigilant in monitoring their posts.
Is it really necessary for everyone to know where you are when you log out on here? All an opponant needs to know is when you are online and when your not and not what you were doing at the time surely?
Summertop: Troublesome members should simply be banned from boards. Moderators should not need to be extra vigilant. Many of the Moderators are here to play games like most others, not spend all online time watching known trouble causers.
Bry: True, some members should be banned from boards, but I feel it is a bit harsh to ban someone just because you have to "moderate" some posts. If it continues without improvement, then banning is more of an option. Till, they are banned, a tool to help the moderators would be nice. Besides, I feel if you don't want to spend the time monitoring the board(s), you shouldn't be a moderator.
Summertop: I'm not saying ban because of some posts that needed moderating. Thats why they get moderated. You stated "Troublesome", which I assume you referred to a user who consistently requires moderating (and therefore breaking BK rules)? If this was the case, then they should be banned.
I have no problem moderating the boards. Was your suggestion was that a hit list could warn moderators when trouble is online? or on a certain board? Why? If everyone got back into the real world and use this site for game playing, there would be no problem.
The fact is that boards shouldn't need to be moderated. Users should not break BK rules.
Bry: "The fact is that boards shouldn't need to be moderated. Users should not break BK rules"...Wouldn't that be nice!
"If everyone got back into the real world and use this site for game playing, there would be no problem."...hmmm, this could be an interesting debate. True, this site started as a game site. But, with the popularity of fellowships has it evolved into more of a community site (that has some way cool games)?
Summertop: Totally agree with you. A lot of the issues arise from Personal Fued's with people Thousands of miles away in other countries, and "internet bad boys(girls)" who just have fun causing trouble where they can't get in trouble for it.
will there be a 'best players' list for ponds when more games have been completed as it will be nice to know who is doing well at the game - though i never expect to be on the top players list lol
Fencer:
It was one of the main things that put me off joinning this site a few years back. I am glad I joined though even though I really don,t like the thought of some people (who are not very nice) being able to track my movements online, we have hackers for that job lol!
I have an idea for a good strategy game, but it is based on a board based on hexagon shaped squares.
before I go any further, does anyone know if such a baord is relatively easy to design?
Mousetrap: Just to let you know, you are not alone. I argued for awhile for the option to "hide self" so you don't show up on the online list and can't be followed -- but I was so out voted, I don't argue it anymore (even though I would still love to see a hiden mode.) People are hear to play board games, not play mind games with people who track what you do just to cause you trouble... and yes, that did happen to me.
nobleheart: I don't know, but I would LOVE to see games like battleboats Plus & Froglet put on a hexagon shaped board - it would give those games some cool new ways to play.
If you have a good idea for a game, go ahead and suggest it.
BIG BAD WOLF: I don't understand, all other players can see is what you are doing on THIS site. What could you possibly be doing that is such a secret? Who the hell cares if someone knows you are browsing a message board or playing a particular game? Maybe I am missing something but this sounds like paranoia to me.
I think I should be in control of who is allowed to add/remove me to/from their friends list and it is not paranoia, it happens, frequently. It is not that I am hiding anything it is just a way for a trouble maker to stir trouble for you when you get online. Most places that have friends list allow you to say Yes allow this person to add me as a friend or No deny and hide me from them. Rather than giving any nut out there control A hidden feature would be nice as well. Nice suggestion BBW!
I occasionally play in the nude and I don't even mind people seeing me like that Anybody who wants to is quite welcome to be a friend or an enemy - doesn't affect me AT ALL!!
cariad: You forgot one other group that monitors the moderators- everyone else!
There are advantages to not being a moderator, also. You may have less "power" in ways, but you also have more "freedom" in other ways.
(Quotes supplied since these concepts really don't apply to this pretend world that we use here)
As paranoid as I am, I still have to agree with grenv's assessment. Who cares what I browse? What are they going to do with the information? Hopefully they'll understand why I'm not moving in one of our games if they see that I'm browsing this board right now. :) As for any enemies that I might have, too bad for them that I'm reading their profile. :)
I liken it to being seen in a crowd. So you can see me from across the room, but that doesn't mean you have to talk to me, does it? You can wait until I get closer or you can come over to where I'm at and talk. Same thing here. You can see what I'm doing, but you don't have to send me a message unless you feel like it. If there was a hide feature, I think it would lessen this site's appeal. Though I doubt if it'd matter much either. Leasts way not for how I use the site, perhaps for others it'd make a big change for them.
Yes, this site is more than a game playing site. Trip how small changes can evolve into the main thing over time. Games are why I'm here though, and that's the whole deal for this site's existence. I doubt if it'd last long if all the games were removed and just the discussion and fellowship boards remained. Whereas if all the boards were removed, this site would go on still. Having both makes it better. I desire that games stay the main focus of this site while leaving room for discussion boards and messaging too.
grenv: Well it allowed a person to harass me - trying to cause trouble for me by posting every single thing I did in an attempt to point out I was not playing his games very quickly. If I looked at someones profile, all of a sudden he made it the busness of everyones. If I stayed in a fellowship board too long, again he did everything he could to cause me trouble. It takes a lot for someone to get under my skin, but this person is one of a few on this site that has. If I was "reading a message", then "writing a message", and then he seen someone else doing the same - of corse this person felt it was everyone business.
I'm here to play board games - chat with friends - not have to deal with people who have nothing beter to do then to harrass me..... especially when there is an option to not have yourself show up as online, which would be a great additional feature for paid members! <HINT HINT>
BIG BAD WOLF: HEAR... HEAR....
I know that exact same feeling with that exact same person, except he only showed where you were on the site.....for myself he plastered my Full Name, address and phone numbers all over the site. He also posted my pic, taken from the "STORE" on BK and made filthy derogative remarks about my person :(
I might not be the most beautiful in the world but there is no need to tell all HAHAHAHAHA....anyway he is now banned, and hopefully wont be back, but if he is, he will give himself away somehow and will be caught again....I think his 5?? personas are all banned.. :)

grenv:
It is not paranoia, believe me it happens, not having anthing to hide Volant is not the point either.
The point is is if you run a site like this and are a moderator or you run a chat room as I have myself in the past you get weridos who don,t like you booting them off the site in order not to bother others following you about dilerately to cause trouble.
Thank goodness it is rare but it does happen.
Deliberately^ weirdos^
AbigailII: Scrabble, only if you can select the language of the dictionary to play it with... Anyway, it would be a shame since one woulnd't be able to play a fair game with that good friend from Japan, that doesn't master the english language all that well...
AbigailII: Good point, if there's no need for the data don't provide it.
Here's what I do with the info: If I see someone playing a game against me, I'll link to that game (especially if it's a chess variation) and refamiliarize myself and start thinking about my next move.
BBW: You're n ot moving quickly because you're playing 800+ games. I was actually wondering why I kept seeing you online yet no moves were forthcoming. Notice I didn't harass you about it though
