Thema: Re: sometimes the theatre of the mind works best
Jim Dandy: I had to look it up, because evidently they missed Texas. Or, could it be that my ex and I were still newly weds, and we were definitely hippy types. If it wasn't "heavy" we looked right over it. So, I'm leaving the answer to others. 1910 Fruitgum Company? You knew about them? Or you tripped over them. Hahaha! That was priceless. They seem like they might be from the earlyr 60s. Hmmm?
UzzyLady: I was familiar with the song, as you might well imagine, it's on all the "Texas" stations. I think they ought to make it the Texas National Anthem. The slide show showed an awful lot about Texas, but you can't cover all of it in 3 minutes. I mean, they missed Brenham. Oh, and Galveston. But, the diversity comes through. And, look who got in the big fat middle...Townes Van Zandt. Hahaha! I had to smile all the way through that piece, because I've been to all of those places, and I have fond memories of all of them. Thanks for the memories.

Jim Dandy: I have to agree with you there. I remember uncounted hours lying on the floor, my head between the speakers, eyes closed, and listening to the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album over and over and over, getting deeper and deeper meanings with every hearing. It might be why radio, in my opinion, is the best venue for music. You are there with yourself, no one, nothing to distract you. One thing I like about long road trips is the music. I take tons and tons of CDs on the road with me. decloedt does the same thing. We had 10 days worth of music last year while we were on the road.
Thema: Re: IMHO far away the best song they ever recorded
Jim Dandy: That was a really hot performance, you're right. But then, it's hard to know when to stop, especially when fans are demanding more, and business managers just want more and more money.
I went out to a radio station I like to see if I could stream it. It loaded the Flash player without a problem. The computer must have gone out and found the missing or corrupted file, and the next time I tried the installation, which was just a few minutes ago, it installed. So, now I CAN see YouTubes. Woo freaking Hoo!!!! And, y'all don't have to hum anymore. I felt like a mouse in a cage in the corner.
I regret to announce that Mousetrap has asked to be removed as a moderator on this board. Her message just below will explain it. Mousetrap, do NOT be a stranger, or we'll have to come get you out of your mousey hole, and put you in a cage over there in the corner.
He was famous for sometimes scribbling down lyrics on the way to a session,he could make gibberish sound like poetry.THis song wasn't a hit,but a fave of mine, taken from the TANX album
TexasToest: step down as mod? I don't think so,your co-mods can carry the load until then, but your gesture is another example of why you are such a quality mod to begin with
Jim Dandy: No, I can't view YouTube videos for lack of the latest Adobe Flash player. And, with Win98, I can't install it either. I may have to step down as mod until I get a video card. §:(
Hey, y'all, I can't see embedded files, and evidently, I can't click on the big blank space either. My video card went down, and I had to swap out computers for a Win98 machine with 32 meg ram. What an insult! It's going to be this way for a while too, since I number myself among the unemployed. So, if you wouldn't mind humming the tunes for me, I'd be very appreciative.
Mousetrap, I didn't go anywhere, the Dandy did. I've been around, just kind of ... incognito.

I finished an interesting Sabbath book while on vacation, sure,I could go the expected route,but...............................................................................http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5HXSlfbXsY
Dolittle: Your wish is my command. Yeah, ole Delbert is somebody to be proud of. He's a desert rat, born in Lubbock.
I started to post this one last night, but did the other one instead. Same concert, in Austin. That sax player will knock your socks off. I like this one, because Delbert really shines on the cow bell. Because of the cow bell, I'm dedicating it to Jim Dandy.
TexasToest: Love Delbert McClinton...he did a song just a few years ago that was so good. Of course, now I can't even remember the title. Find some more of his videos for us Toesty!!
Jim Dandy: I'd heard that song. I don't know where though, unless it was JACK-FM. It's alright, has a good rhythm, it's easy to dance to. But, you're right, they really sold out!
I didn't mind it,until it was played to death, but there was no turning back for them, they became very soft, sold a bunch or records, and then nobody cared anymore
Thema: Re: A buddy turned me onto this band and cd back in 1995,I loved it!
rod03801: yup, going commercial sometimes leads to short term gain, but in their case they lost both their identity and after a short while their audience, what a shame,I hope the cash from "FLY" was worth it.
