ClayNashvilleTN: Heavenly Father: We ask that you be with Clay and his family at this time in their lives. Help them to know that their family members are in Your loving embrace. We all stand with him to support our friend Clay, but it is only through Your support that any of us can cope through our most difficult times and we ask You to be with him.
Foxy Lady: Our friend and councillor, Mark, tells us at the end of his Gospel that those who believe in Christ as Lord will be given the power to do great things such as heal the sick. We are also told that we should ask these prayers in Christ's name.
Foxy, your friends here join with you in prayer that your friend's biopsy turns out well. We ask this of God through his son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
We ask that not one more generation will grow up knowing conflict and injustice, nor suffer from poverty or oppression, that not one more family will lose a loved one to war and bitterness, and that, together, Muslim, Jew and Christian, we can create a new future for the Holy Land: a future of peace.
Amen
The text of the prayer taken from a prayer by Jordan's King Adbullah.
A Chinese woman had two large water pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke [this only happens in China] to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them."
"For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."
Each of us has our own unique flaws. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.
To all of my crackpot family and friends, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path we walk.....
God, show us how to love the unlovely today. Help us to love others as you love them ---- just as they are. Amen.
Matthew 5:43-48
Love for Enemies
43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."

A gentle answer turns away wrath.
My prayers are with all of those in Pakistan who have lost loved ones and friends. I hope that they are able to find peace in the midst of their troubles.
