no sure if this would be the right place to post this, but here goes..,my puter crashed and I lost everything..I did store my Itunes library to disks,9 of them to be exact.I usually use iDump but it glitched right as my iPod connected in and I lost 1500 songs in about 3 seconds...so,I started to transfer the data from the disks back to the library and after I take the disk outand try to play the sond a lil ! shows up and says it can;t find the data,or something to that effect...how the heck do I get it there..I clicked and dragged it,do I have to put it in a file in the puter itself? even the stuff I just got from net tonight it is saying it can't find!!
itunes isnt able to find the songs on the path that was defined before. there is a function in itunes to search for all available data on your disks ans put it into the library. this could solve your problem - if the songs can be found somewhere on your disk(s).
Hello! I apologise in advance if these problems have been addressed so here goes:When I access discussion boards I'm unable to read the posts;all I get is the poster's name anda blank area where the post is to be. Also, under my profile link I don't see where I can add info about myself nor where to change my e-mail addy. Can anyone offer help? Thanks!
I wonder if someone could help me please? I downloaded the free version of AVG anti virus - when I run the scanner, my computer crashes.... I have no other anti virus programs, but I don't know if I should disable the Microsoft built-in ones? I have Windows XP.
You may try the following: - Uninstall the current version of AVG -> restart -> disable anything else. - Install a new AVG (or any other downloaded anti-virus-prog) - run the scanner...
I tried the uninstall/reinstall suggestion and it didn't work.... does anyone have any idea what's going on? When I run the scanner, it goes for about 30 to 60 seconds and then the computer crashes....
diogenysos: No, it doesn't. I had Zone Alarm before but I didn't like it because it interfered with Ebay. Before that I had Norton and McAfee - none of them caused the computer to crash. After the first crash, I got a Microsoft message that said that the serious error occurred because of an anti-virus program.
Binabik: Its good to use an anti-virus-prog (e.g. AVG, Kaspersky, Norton, BitDefender etc.) AND a firewall (ZoneAlarm, Keryo etc.). WIndows XP and vista both have an integrated firewall. People say that this integrated firewall is causing conflicts, so it can be turned off in the security-center of the xp-control-panel. If your conflicts with AVG continue, the program should be uninstalled completely. You might use a registry-cleaner (e.g. RegCleaner 4.3) to erase all AVG entries within the registry in order to make sure there will be no conflicts any longer.
diogenysos: Thanks so much! I'll try turning the firewall off and see what happens. I assume that turning it off won't leave me open to disasters? Hmmm, would that leave me without a firewall at all? I'll have to check AVG and see if they have it.
Binabik: a firewall is a useful thing... . turning the windows-firewall off means you do not have the control over the progs using the inernet - including possible "bad" ones. its a good idea for sure to install another one, but step by step. first you should solve your virus-scanner-problem. as soon as you got one working fine on your computer, you may try to install a firewall, too. if zoneAlarm didnt work well, try for example keryo... .
MadMonkey: Nice wallpapers - about 3 days ago I added a second monitor on my PC (so I have 2 monitors right next to each other) - so now I've found a couple nice ones that will stretch to both monitors here: http://www.dualscreenwallpaper.com/
Binabik: As far as anti-virus software goes, I'd like to put in a good word for avast! home edition. I've been a happy user for about 5 years, I think.
had to do complete system restore last night.today, when I tyre to install my yahoo toolbarmit says it is installed but when I log out and log back in,it's gone..any ideas? I have reinstalled it like 5 times now.Under "view" where you can adjust toolbar options,it isn't even there to adjust.
wetware: Thank you very much, diogenysos and wetware! I'm currently using my son-in-laws computer but as soon as I get back to my own, I'll check out the avast site, it looks good!
For those who do not keep up with things going on about the WWW, some ex employees of Google have released there own search engine which they reckon is better.
Check out CUIL (odd name i must admit lol, its pronounced cool.com)
Why - because none of my sites are indexed. (and if mine are missing, how much more is missing) Easy to say they indexed more then Google - but I don't believe it.
My Rating of CUIL: D- (only ready not an F is because the results are displayed nicely - but I question how good their index is which is the most important part of any search engine.)
coan.net: Yes, i agree, i had a little play about as well, and as you say the results between Google & CUIL are very different ,and agree the results are nicely displayed. Still i guess its early days for it.
If i search for brainking madmonkey on Google i get 3,110 results
on CUIL i get 6,453
Funny really as the Interview i saw this morning was talking about the people who have written CUIL and they are all ex Google people as i mentioned. Have to give it time i guess
Why do I occasionally hear thunder from my computer speakers? I remember reading an article a few years ago that said if you heard different strains of music they meant different things. For example one meant your fan had stopped working. So I was wondering if the thunder meant anything and if so what and if not why is it doing it. It has nothing to do with the weather outside.
i have a question about wireless connectivity. im using wired broadband now, but, am going on a small vacation where the hotel has wireless access. ive surfed options for USB devices and cards for my laptop. do i need something specific? will any generic brand work? do i need to know what type the hotel has?
