ScarletRose: now thats a really good idea.maybe we could make & promote a survival kit for brainking members...mmm.what shall we put in it?
how about:
a pair of backgammon dice
2 candles
a thermos of strong coffee
a chew toy
a nerf bat
..did I miss anything?
Do you know of someone who is perhaps a young college student. Or someone who travels??
Two Home Made Ideas for an Awesome Winter Holiday present
1. A First Aid Kit Survival kit for the car (For the Traveler)
I put together one of these about a half dozen years ago for my father who enjoys taking drives on the back roads of Wyoming at odd times.. after learning of one trip where he got stuck till search and rescue found him..
~ Survival Kits ~
Food and water
Flashlight and spare batteries
Crank or battery-operated radio (portable stereo and headphones)
Candles and matches or lighter
Whistle (in case you need to attract attention)
Toiletries, spare eyeglasses and other personal items
First aid kit, prescription drugs
Extra set of keys and money (including small change for pay telephones)
Copies of your important documents (identification, personal papers)
Winter clothing, boots and blankets or sleeping bags
~ For The Car ~
Shovel, scraper and snow brush
Sand, salt or cat litter and antifreeze
Matches and candles in a metal container
Spare clothing and shoes, blanket
Tow rope, jumper cables, windshield-washer fluid
Warning light or road flares and fire extinguisher
First aid kit with seatbelt cutter
Water and emergency food (such as energy bars)
Roadmaps, whistle and flashlight
2. And for that College Student or New to the World Young Adult why not put together a basket of daily needs.. such as
Vitamins
Hand Lotions
Vicks
Aroma Therapy trinkets
(female) Facial Masques
Foot care needs
Certificates to the Beauty shop or Barbers in the neighborhood ~ or if you know where they like going, purchase them from there..
If they are an active College Student why not a gift certificate to the college Bookstore.
Foxy Lady: well.. maybe with just some sugestions to help those on a daily basis.. huh?? I certainly wouldn't want to wish ill health to those during the winter just to have this board active.. :)
mook53lhd: First i would print that out to show your doctor.Theres alot of sites on that treatment.I'm not too familar with the med but i
ll send you the other sites.
Foxy Lady: very sensible .but as you know despite what people say,we have very little control over our existence,. the only way to beat fatness (obesity is such a libelous word) is when the fat gene can be removed from the mix. all the dieting ,pills,tv hokem re abs machines & the like are not the answer .a band aid perhaps .but nothing more. walking & swimming is the best thngs you can do. but it won`t guarantee you`ll be slim. i`d like to change the subject if i may, rather than write another post. does anyone out there have any knowledge with a purported all purpose remedy called IBOGAINE. mook
mook53lhd: I never had a weight problem not even when i was pregnant. We eat everything in moderation very little fast food.We always eat breakfast thats the most important meal of the day.Our oldest is not allowed to buy from the vending machines at school.Children are too obese to the hurried lives we Americans have.I'm Italian and we have a very large family which the ruler( my granmother)lol always wants to feed everybody.
We never skip any meals and i never force my children to clean up the food on their plates.
I'm under 40 but close to it and i hope i can stay within my weight range.
Some ppl are over weight due to illness, too many carbs and never excercise.I don't mean hard excercise a walk beats being a couch potatoe.
Foxy Lady: thats because they get checks & we have stores. they fatten up. most don`t grow up playing ball every day like punchball, slapball, stickball, etc. most americans who aren`t born to be fat & who are somewhat atheletic don`t put on weight till their mid 40`s or so. some people are fat their whole lives ---whether they overeat or not. others stay slim & can ingest anything in great quantities. add to that the % of americans over 50(like me) who were never fat ,until the drs got a hold of them.you can say the fast food bad diet but i don`t know if thats the prevailing or majority reason. its a tough call. ppl from other countries on benefits get fat .i`ll give you that 100% .they come skin & bones .then like a miracle ,theres the twin spires,or 7-11 mook
plaintiger: that must be it ,in a dozen years or so it`ll probably be truer,as english speaking people may become a minority in their own lands.i refuse to learn spanish . but if i migrated to spain i would. americans take more antidepressants, anti anxiety drugs etc. add that into the mix & you get fat people who speak english. mook
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting medical studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
3. The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
4. The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. It appears that speaking English is what kills you.
