Any garage worth their weight will check for causes for you too.. cos may even just be down to something simple of over full of oil.. but obviously could be completely the other way and something major...
As Butch says... nothing will be known for sure till the job has been started.
I cant comment on pricing as i dont know what its like over your side of the pond.. But any job on most cars that includes dropping the transition can be a timely one unless front wheel drive, then can be shortish some times

Just have to get it remapped now, cos the intercooler is 4 times the size of the original, and the length of pipe getting to and from it ,, so much lag on the turbo boost.. should be good for 330bhp once mapped and around the same lb/ft torque, its 260bhp/ 240lb/ft now before i done this work and 0-60mph 4.7 seconds and 13 sec 0-100mph.. so looks like should be pretty cool for just a 2.0 flat 4 boxer :oD

Bitten the bullet, bought another car for everyday use now, and trailer mine to the track instead of driving,, within next month gonna fit bigger turbo, and front mount intercooler, and remap her.. should get her to best part of 350bhp 330Lb/ft torque :o) not bad for a little 2.0 boxer engine still on standard internals LOL

Thema: Re:
tazman7474: yep, Ive altered the air intake, I prefer it slightly rich anyways cos these motors are prone to blowing up with the slight sign of running weak,, as I found out last year. I can parralel up the fuel rails, as they are in series at the moment ( so means the final injector can be slightly starved,, and that just happens to be the usual cylinder that runs lean and fails.
I may look at a larger turbo later this year, and will upgrade the fuel pump again, and do the rails.. and then will fit larger intercooler or go for a front mount.. then I will get it remapped

tazman7474: ooooooooooooouchies :o( here £10 is just over 2 UK gallons. flooring the motor must be around 5 to 7 miles per gallon at the most. normal driving I get 15 ish. on long journies if i stay below 70 and on motorways, and keep it off the turbo ( so under 2700rpm)I can squeeze just shy of 30 as long as no traffic problems and its say a 3 hour drive

right bank inlet camshaft,, one of the journels must have had a foreign body get in the oil grrove.. clogged it,, it then ran dry and has damageed the bearing cap and the cam and filled the oil groove with metal :o(
gonna see if can salvage cam and head ( as there are no bearings, the cam runs direct on the aluminium cylinder head and cap)

Hopefully wont have to by new head and cam

Backoff: I guess its cos we are wetter here than you LOL Ive used the ZZ1 then the updated ZZ2 and then the ZZ3, they are all directionals

Yokahama are race bred and thats more what they are for.. unfortunately they dont suit the course road surfaces LOL

Thema: Re: as a comparison
tazman7474: I found yokahama was great for grip :oD but just normal road use on my old car would wear them out in 10,000 miles. Now I have 4 wheel drive and do a fair bit of track etc, the cost etc would be silly. so ive found Avon zz3 tyres ( that site never came up with them lol) etc a reasonable compromise

tazman7474: Thats what I done the first time, as i dont run the recommended size for my car (should be 45 profile) but the first time i ticked the all season boxs for tyre type to allow for our wet times LOL

tazman7474: ZR comes up with 4 results from all brands and trye type.. and one of those was YR LOL so leaves 3.. only 1 would be suitable as its a directional ( remember Im in UK so high chance of water on track) goodyear eagle F1.. good tyre too :o)

what would a 215/40/17 ZR reputable tyre company tyre cost? so maybe, pirelli, avon, continental etc etc.. not a budget make..

Incase your sizes are diferent ratings etc.. the above means..
215mm wide, side profile is 40% of the 215mm so = 86mm and on 17 inch diameter wheel with a Z speed rating of 149mph and upwards

I only ask as I just got to get a full set,, so thought id ask you guys what it would cost in your countries too as a subject starter
