Emne: Kings Race rules incomplete
Can anybody tell me what would have happened if white had moved the queen to C7? Draw or Win?
Corrida de Reis (pauloaguia vs. jitkasafa)

The rules don't specify what happens in this situation...

Emne: Re:
coan.net: I see your point. I think your option "1" is a good idea, and prevent abuse of the system which some do. It's getting like KM again in some ways where a loophole has been found in the system and people are cheating on their ratings because of it by only playing games they will win. Or by making it that some just time out just to get the free space (such as pawns) as the game has been delayed so long.

It's not right.

coan.net: i beleive im right in saying didnt Chad at GT try the exact same thing with vacation days not letting you play at all if you had booked vacation and im sure that didnt last very long because it was a really bad idea

but i like to see no vacation days returned after youve used your quota up except in special causes which you should ask Fencer about

my own case is quite simply i do buy my vacation days back because im able to but i dont actually abuse them
its ill health that stops me keeping up with things
so to penalise someone by not gaving any back thou ill health is kinda scary to me

Emne: Re:
(V): That would not work. I know when I visit my sister-in-law, all she has is dial-up, and I set vacation days - but do try to stop by and play a few games - if playing the few games would take me off of the vacation and make may games time out - that would be bad.

Another example would be if I have about 10 games ready to time out (but on vacation), try to play 1, and then suddenly have the other 9 time out because I did not play fast enough because the system took me off vacation would also be bad.

(So doing that would only slow games down more since it would encourage players to not even try to visit the site if they can)

The things I would like to see fixed:

1. Don't allow people more vacation days if they renew their membership. I know this has been done in the past - sometimes multiple times in a row. If anything, maybe a 1 time thing were you get 10 additional vacation days if a membership is purchased, but never more then 10 days. (even though I would like to see it as 0).

2. .... there was something else I was just thinking about, but it escapes me right now.

Emne: Re:
Fencer: Yep, but why can't there be a little update to the holiday system. If you move on a day then you can't be classed as being on holiday. As it is upto the player to play the least time games first as I think most of us do so we keep our holiday for genuine reasons.

rod03801: yes and it is unfortunate that something can't be done about it as well.....a bad loop in the system it is.......
and the person you are talking about is paid up to 2014, surely that indicates he is rorting the system when it comes to moves, and it was only a couple days ago he was whingeing and whining about not being able to get another paid up year..........

Hrqls: There are a couple players (or at least one, that many know about) who has had at least 90 (possibly 120!) vacation days in 2008 because of doing this. Not fair at all to the other players in any tournaments they are holding up.

by the way: I have this opponent who sets vacation days for next year, out of his stock from this year. Then, come Jan 1st, he can add to them.

This is surely not the way this is intended to work. why, in a couple of years he can set 365 off days! Now, if I could figure out the way to make this gimmick work for me on my job -

Why this guy ever paid for a black rook, if he goes this far to find loopholes in order not to move in games, is beyond me.

rabbitoid: I don't.... I've only seen two articles on MS recently. This one and another which reported a mess up by MS over a patch that caused some people to lose the internet connection thanks to compatibility problems with a firewall program.

.... I in that case had to phone MS to find out which patch to remove.

.... Oh there has been one incident regarding MS though over policy which I took them to task relating to a laptop makers ability to keep software before a certain date that was basically essential if the laptop went unstable and needing a complete wipe and reload.

..... In the end MS said sorry and sent me a free copy of XP sp3 for my partners laptop.

Emne: Serious security flaw found in IE
Users of Microsoft's Internet Explorer are being urged by experts to switch to a rival until a serious security flaw has been fixed. The flaw in Microsoft's Internet Explorer could allow criminals to take control of people's computers and steal their passwords, internet experts say.

Microsoft urged people to be vigilant while it investigated and prepared an emergency patch to resolve it.

"Microsoft says it has detected attacks against IE 7.0 but said the "underlying vulnerability" was present in all versions of the browser."

"The message needs to get out that this malicious code can be planted on any web site, so simple careful browsing isn't enough."
