Tilpasset af ScrambledEggs (9. November 2007, 07:32:13)
MadMonkey: but has i said before it should be introduced at the same time for everyone why should a few in the know gets things after all we are all paying members brings to mind when cloning backgammon was first introduced some players in the know got to play it ages before everyone else did
Snoopy: You have to change the URL to team 255, and there is the random Team, but as Fencer said last week, it is not finished yet, but you can build a Team ready
I Archive all Tournament winners for a week to post them at the same time, as i run so many. When i tried at the weekend to go through all last weeks, several of them would not open OR were just blank
I do not know if this is the same message problem as a couple of weeks ago i reported to Fencer, when trying to reply to a message from someone it would not give me a box to write in. He fixed that though but i had to tell him who the message was for
I'm having issues with archived messages.. I scroll down to reread what I had written and only half the message is there.. the 'rest' is sort of cut off to the far right... Wonder if anyone else has had that happen?
Czuch: IE7 has a rendering mechanism that waits for the whole page to load before drawing it. Previous IE versions and most other browsers start rendering the page as soon as it is downloaded. So, they start by rendering the left column, then make space for the central part and finally shrink the whole page to make space for the right column. This is why it seems like the page is jumping from side to side until it is completelly downloaded . Most browsers try to display the page as soon as possible to give the impression that they load pages faster. Most of the time there is no problem with that. Except in cases like BK where the layout of the page can't be accuratly determined until close to the end of the page, because of that right column.
Opera does have a setting to only start rendering the page after a few seconds. Not sure if Firefox has anything similar. Otherwise, if it really is such a big deal, seems like IE7 might be a good bet for you.
Another option would be to convince Fencer to put the code of the right column before the central part of the page. Stylesheets should help make sure that the whole thing falls into place properly... unless, of course, someone has them disabled
TarantinoFan: hmmm.... this sounds like a problem for the computers board! I am not sure what it is, but someone in that DB might be able to help you, for it sounds like a software problem. I don't have that problem at all... You must be using firefox huh?
rednaz23: Well I just counted while waiting for this page to load and I counted a full 6 seconds for that side to load. (It didn't need to load any red numbers but I do have 5 friends online at the moment.
It is frustrating because you can't start to work with the page until that column has loaded because it kicks the page sideways. Several times I have gotten ahead of the load and then it kicked on me and I clicked the wrong thing and had to go back and re-do what I was intending as well as fix the wrong thing I clicked! I have put the suggestion in this board but I will add a formal request in the Features board.
TarantinoFan: Within that little red number is a lot of code. Particularily the website link to whatever game you have with each friend. There is also some html code to change the color of the font to red... so those things together may be causing a few extra moments of delay...
The thing to do to get rid of that little delay is to make all your friends not friends. You could also stay on top of all of your games, meaning less code pops up that you have to wait to load, and the final option is to nicely ask Fencer for a way to eliminate those individual things on the right side.... which would be a really nice feature... or a way to reorganize the side features to the way each individual person wants it organized... that would also be nice! I don't think it is a neccessity, but those are things that can always be done to give the individual more control of there main page... sort of like facebook! ...you can make it look like however you want! ...within reason of course.
TarantinoFan: i love to be able to turn of the whole of the right hand side of the page because i know when i left every fellowship a few months ago the page loaded superfast
And just a note. The site has been working fine for me over the last few days.
Still annoyed about the delayed load on the right hand column after the last "upgrade" (I think the numbers after Friends Online was a nonsense piece of addition that no-one really needed but that is just my opinion)
But apart from that I have just managed to get through all of my games. I haven't seen a 0 in my game list for quite a while and it is rather pleasing to me!
I bet you think the internet runs on fiber optic cables and wireless transmissions. No. It runs on child labor. Little children on bicycles ride through underground tunnels delivering emails and web packets. They work very hard in the hope that, someday, they too will be allowed to live among the surface dwellers. The trouble is, you have to pay bribes to the syndicate in order for your website to run properly. Fencer fell behind in his payments, so some portions of the syndicate stopped delivering web packets for him. But these payments are very important. They pay for the food that the little children eat, and without them the children starve. So the real reason for BrainKing's problems: Fencer hates chidren.
I was planning to arrange Bubbles Pbarb2 's interview next weekend. However I still have only a handfull of questions, mostly from the people who voted her in. I'm guessing people are leaving it to the last minute because now I've been setting a deadline to collect them, but if you have some questions for her then please send them soon, so I can decide the best line of action before the weekend.
In the meantime, I'm arranging a list of the most voted people to send to Bubbles Pbarb2 so she can pick the next interviewee. If you want to influence her decision you can still vote on the next person to be interviewed...
