Tuesday: I think his wife has a great deal of Hollywood in her blood. She's certainly acting up the part as a 'princess' who's no longer part of the establishment. I think she learnt that from Diana, and possibly Wallis Simpson. Edward VIII's frowned upon missus.
Mousetrap: Yeah the tourism is very big business regarding the royals, palaces, etc. Even Harry is playing the 'I'm a poor royal' game for all it's worth.
Bwild: Aye a simple one a day vitamin pill, does a lot of good
Chicken little.. I see all sides predicting calamity if ya don't vote for them. Surprised that with the amount of times the sides cry "wolf", people don't question it. Like we were told be an extra £350 million a week available to fund the NHS post brexit, from us exiting the EU. When people who did look into the figures saw it was a lie, those pushing the figure still carried on lying. Our Prime Minister being one of them.
Papa Zoom: Alot of both the vaccine scene and the climate scene, are businesses making alot of money from them. Many Conservative donors here in the UK have been given many dubious contracts for covid supplies such as PPE. Companies that have had NO previous experience in medical supplies, or even no pervious experience at all. As in.. the company was registered with company house, never traded in any way. And they get a multi million pound contract to supply PPE.
As to control.. it's called a two party system, with the media pushing that neither side can work together. And an education system (as George Carlin says) that leaves out the teaching of critical thinking.
N' as to man made climate change, try the Aral Sea. Have a look now, not much left of it.
Papa Zoom: 20 years is enough for the old crowd to be replaced. Heard story that some did want to wait for Saddam Hussain to die. His kids were more moderate. But the west had to have a win, and Afghanistan isn't easy to conquer.
Tuesday: Ecclesiasties, Nothing new under the sun. Just hope the western press isn't true. As one general said. "They are talking the talk, lets hope they walk the walk."These same guys were Freedom fighters in the 80's re the Russian invasion!
Tuesday: It's an exterior weather proofing large tile shaped interlocking system. Can be used to beautify old tower blocks as well. Several types are available.. some with cores of flammable materials, some with non flammable material. Most countries don't allow the use of flammable core cladding. Yet as it's cheaper, it was ok'd to be used in the UK for a better profit margin.
Tuesday: Such is the world of politics today. Funny things like politicians voting for a relaxation of fire regs, many of them being private landlords big time. Then, a tower block burns, because the cheaper cladding had a flammable core. Possibly 100K+ buildings with the bad cladding. Home owners stuck with a place they can't sell, without paying for the claddings replacement. Government is 'helping' financially, though far short of the real costs involved.
Worrying when told the only reason a campaign manager supported the PM in being elected, knowing he was "useless". Is because he didn't want the other party to win the election.
Yesterday was "freedom day" in the UK, so called lol Everything is open, cases are rising. Businesses in the retail are, are having to take on "pool staff". As now, every time one of their staff is 'pinged' they have to self isolate.
People are now supposed to act sensibly re masks and mixing. Shops still saying "mask up", especially the independents. As when they get ill, there is no "pool staff"
Papa Zoom: More so that as the on/off volume switch was in one of the speakers, as a beginner in fixing this kinda stuff.. rewiring them to be independent.. nahh. Though at the same time. I could just buy a new pair of tweeters for this old 2.1 system. Or a 2nd hand pair, but of good name and rep
Papa Zoom: Had to chuck out speaker set for my PC yesterday, capacitor blew spreading gunk all over the circuit board for power to the actual speakers. Annoyed me that the circuitry was so cack handed, it was pointless to try and repair it. Just two years old even more annoying. Outside the warranty so pffff!
I didn't review them before buying, thought they wouldn't mess up such a simple thing. I won't make the same mistake again!
UK law now states that manufacturers are legally required now to make spare parts available to people buying electrical appliances, what are usually called 'white goods' here in the UK. eg fridges, cookers, tumble dryers, washing machines, etc.
But at the same time. it is restricted to 'safe repairs' such as door hinges, seals, etc. Such as heating elements in washing machines are still a get a professional to fix it Job.
Though having repaired my cooker re heating element in oven, and a door switch a few years back. We could already?
Tuesday: We do and we don't have to wear them, have so always since this covid business started. Exempt people have never had to wear them, and legally you can't be asked to prove you are exempt. I wear a mask wear in shops and other like places. Or near certain areas where I see people who have shown they don't distance properly. Mothers and their tea shops with tables outside, seem to be above the regs.
Luckily no "Mr Rabbit" organising things, plotting to change our DNA. .. I'm referring to a series called "Utopia".. UK Version best But alot of dodgy contracts to conservative campaign contributors. Companies who've never traded, or usually make dog food. Nothing unusual though. Seeing Biden getting some badly needed infrastructure repairs/upgrades done. If like happened in the UK, expect some price fixing and other stuff amongst companies.
Papa Zoom: Aye they did, and still are. Our Health minister just resigned, not because he was having an affair, and having his mistress 'getting paid' by working for the gov. But because he was caught snogging her, when we were all being taught to avoid such outside long term relationships.
Well probably a bit of all three, but Boris Johnson did the first two as Mayor of London. 'modern' Conservatism seems to have caught up with an old French commentary regarding the Profumo affair. French found it weird that a politician didn't have a mistress!
Papa Zoom: Had both shots of the Astra Zeneca version. No weird sides, felt like someone had punched me in the arm next few days. Though know some it has given some short term problems like headaches and stomach upset, especially on the second.
Most in UK now at least had one shot. And yeah seen the news and chat on Moderna and the Pfizer vaccines. Keeping an eye on it, as boosters will be offered to UK citizens later.
All can have been avoided if they'd just closed down tight at first. When family of mine came back from Italy when it was bad there in march 2020. No checks at the airport, no temps taken. Just told to go home and self isolate.
If I could have an hour with the PM, with him on truth drugs.. and a live feed to the net.
ketchuplover: My George Carlin fandom would have many politicians in stocks, with rotten fruit and veg thrown at them.
....Pay per view for charity of course! And bets on how many hit the face per hour.
Old fashioned entertainment that raises money for charity, and give the average man a wager that he can appreciate that even if he gets the wager wrong, it's still a win for the average man.
Switched from being Pro Europe to anti Europe, openly supported a lie regarding the Brexit campaign. Used tax payers money to support his mistress, while major of London, lies constantly. Only wanted to be Prime Minister, because he wanted say he been PM. No interest really in being a Prime Minister.
But, our other major party is kinda out of touch also.
Tuesday: Project I did the paper work on, used a similar system. Hop from channel to channel to make it hard for the enemy to listen in to radio chatter. That was back in mid 90's.
Yeah we have some classic B&W's part of our collection. Loads on youtube if you look for old films ;)
Artful Dodger: And a new one hit this weekend. That the family of Stephen Lawrence were targeted by a Met police smear campaign so they might go away and not end up (as they did) revealing how institutionally racist the Met police force was through their campaign for justice.
18 years to convict the killers, just because Stephen and his family were black.
Btw.. if you happen to (and it was funny) watch last nights "Question Time" ...
DO NOT play the "answer the question" (tm) drinking game. So many times were questions unanswered or having to be repeated you will not last the first 30 minutes!!
Today (and yesterday ) starring on "Question time" and other news programs, papers and bloggs...
... How the NHS watchdog tried to cover up it's own failings regarding the investigation of unusually high baby death figures at a hospital... names have been named and shamed. Heads have gone.
... How banks were able to use the "Murder on the Orient Express" defence and claim they did not know they were laundering money for Mexican drug cartels.
.... therefore no-one can be held criminally responsible even though deaths have resulted.
What about the heads of the depts? Some VP's??
A new law will be introduced to cover such defences.
Our government says it's ok. We are not being spied upon by them, and they've managed to get an agreement by the UK's Overseas Territories and Crown dependencies to sign up to a tax evasion clampdown.
That's Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, Anguilla, Montserrat, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
But the proposed register of companies, revealing the true owners, may not go ahead. Let alone be available to the public for scrutiny, so we get to know who are the cheaters.
..........well.. confirmable proof. Most are already known, certain groups of citizens in the UK take the time to note who's who!!
N' now it looks like the UK's GCHQ used the USA's abuse of the Patriot act to spy on US citizens to illegally spy on UK citizens. The UK government tried to get the power to collect all our web browsing data but couldn't get it through Parliament. The Liberal democrats would not vote for it killing the idea.
... It seems the Data Protection act means didly squat. But I knew that anyway...
