Any chance on the possibility to create more than one?

It would be nice to have a poll on new games: ministers, chinese chess, awele, ...

Emne: Ministers?
Anyone interested in Ministers? It's chess on a 9x9 board with an extra queen. I've never played, but it looks most cool. I think it would be a nice addition to Brainking, and shouldn't be too much effort - from a technical standpoint, anyway. I'm not sure about the legal standpoint, as it is proprietary.

(I would hope the company wouldn't hate the publicity of having their game online.)

Emne: Re: Printable Version of Games Rules?
Thats a great idea! I'm always trying to jump to those pages and figure what I'm doing (not that it helps me figure what I'm doing!) and most time if I'm in a variation, then I gotta go to another link to get the full rules.........

Yes, it's possible. I plan to do similar things for game pages.

Emne: Printable Version of Games Rules?
Fencer, I'm wondering if it would be possible to incorporate a Printable Version of each Games Rules page on Brain King. Today I have printed the rules to Jungle and Espionage and the rules took three pages each. It would be great if there was a link on each rules page so that the Games Rules could be printed out as middle frame only. This would save ink, paper, and time, and the printed version would be more geared towards just the rules, without the left and right frames of the pages.

It would be great if this were possible.

Regards,

Yvonne

Ah good idea BBW! I was invited to one yesterday and had never seen it before, which got me to wondering when it was created... but I didn't want to join anyway so I couldn't have seen by the messages!

You can also usually take a look at the first message on the boards in the fellowship to get an idea of a date when it was created.

but how about a date at the top of main fellowship pages, showing when that fellowship was created.

i never heard about espionage before i came to this site .. i knew about stratego though .. we played it (dont know if those are the official rules) that when you (tried to) capture a piece your opponent had to reveal that piece to you and you had to reveal it to your opponent .. even if you would lose the capture part

but of course in stratego we didnt have spies like we do have in espionage :)

rabbitiod: You mean to reveal all pieces (including the captured ones), not just the final position?

11. November 2004, 07:39:36
rabbitoid
and while we're at it, could we have an indication of where the stuff was, once the game is over? that goes for all the hidden games such as battleboats, spy or dark chess.

11. November 2004, 02:05:41
rod03801
.. as long as the captured piece list doesn't reveal the ranks of pieces you didn't already discover with the spy.. (or whatever that piece is here, lol I forget right now) .. that would take away a major part of what the game is about, in my opinion! but a list of pieces captured that you did reveal, would be good.. maybe just a question mark in the place of pieces whose ranks you didn't learn..

Ah, so it does...sorry. How about adding a sortable column for "Last Moved"? On second thought, maybe there is more important stuff to do...like add a captured pieces list to the Sabotage games

Summertop: But it works in this way. Check your Settings page where you can set an order of next games.

Summertop
Would I be yelled at if I post a suggestion that was probably already posted? Oh, well...

When submiting a move for any game, it takes me to the "Next Game". My guess is that the next game is by game ID. Could it PLEASE take you to the next game in respect to my selected sort order on the main page?

There are times I am limited on my time and I just want to make a move for the games that are waiting when I signed on. Invariably, one of my opponents is online and their game keeps coming up before the other games that have been waiting. Sometimes this is very nice, but other times it is annoying. I would like to be able to choose how I want it.

Also, could the resign link take you to the next game (Yes, sometimes I DO lose). Just because I resign a game, doesn't mean I am though playing the other games.

IPv6 is a solution.
But this discussion belongs to Computers board.

10. November 2004, 16:33:06
Summertop
You are all correct, IP's are not a good way to track individuals. How many people have a "cable modem" that provides Internet access to multiple computers? Each computer will appear to have the same ip (that of the router/Cable Modem). Unfortunately, i am not aware of a good solution. Was it Intel that wanted to put a unique serial number on their CPU's just for this reason? There was such an outcry and threats to boycott, that they changed their mind. It seems people LIKE their anonymity while browsing.

pauloaguia is right, most providers do not give their customers static IP addresses.

you get a different one each time you dial up/ logon

10. November 2004, 11:19:47
pauloaguia
Most ISP's share IP's amongst their clients... not only you won't get the same IP each time you connect but the IP you have one day can become the IP of another client the other day.
Not to mention the fact that there are some people who share the same IP (work at the same company and connect from there or stuff like that).

So IP banning wouldn't work... (I think)

Nice idea in theory but I suspect a number of people change their nics to confuse or deceive.

Emne: perhaps...
...with all the noise going on in the General Chat, a good feature would be to show all of your nicknames in a list, and the dates they were in use. That way you can see all of the nicks that person has used on the same ID.

The 3 move opening is pro-checkers. It doesn't matter if it's GAYP or 3 move pro-checkers, any opening move can be programed.

Emne: Re: pro-checkers
The openings would be selected randomly by the site from 100 plus approved openings. Pro-checkers is generally played in a two game match with the same 3 move opening for both games. This makes it equal for both players

Be great if you could choose the games in question, like back and Nack, or chess with varients, or other games with related varients.

You would want to double round the chess, though.

yeah - sounds interesting - you would think that the stronger player in most games would be odds on to win it.... I'd be up 4 it....

That gets me thinking... what about a tournament with different games and you play each opponent once in each game?

5. November 2004, 19:58:25
The Hunter
Emne: an idea I had for a tournament.
what if you could have a tournament where each individual game is random. for example, the first two peope could be playing chess and next two could be playing checkers(basically each game you have could be different from what someone else is playing). You could call it a masters tournament or something like that. maybe you could hold it once a year with some kind of prize for the winner. I think it would be interesting to see who could win dispite the fact that no one would be fully prepared. I can't discribe it well bu I think it would be very fun. just another thought

in the messages displayed for a game, add the move number on which they were made.

it would be helpful if in the list of comments, "this was a crap move" was associated to the right move :)
