Baked Alaskan: Monopoly would probable not work too well on a turn based game site, but I bet I (along with others) could think up some good rules of how to get a turn-based buy/sell land, buy/sell houses/hotels into a game which would work well for a turn based game site.
Amandakmg365: Personally I dont think Monopoly would be good for a turn based site. For instance, just wanting to do a trade with someone would have to waste a turn. Game would take 2 yrs to finish. And also the auctions.. How would you do the auctions?
Has anyone ever asked if it would be possible for Brainking to have versions of the games Monopoly and Life? Would they even be possible to do on Brainking? Thank you.
Allison: ItS already there i believe , in profile go to tournaments and alter the running tournaments to open tournaments , there it should only show tournaments you have signed up for but not yet started .
Is it possible to make Autopass to be something would be done based upon a user setting ? In other words, a user would have to OPT-IN in order to have autopass work, and by default new users would be opted-out.
In that way, it is a bit of a compromise with Fencer's position and those who would rather have autopass.
how about a link to 'brainking info' (maybe under bug tracker and links) on the left of mainpage, as I inadvertantly deleted it when it was put on the center of mainpage, yet wanted to read the whole message....
I have just two suggestions (one of them, at least, has already been talked about in other boards on this site--I think--but I'm not aware of how the discussion ended). The first one is about Tablut: what about adding more versions of it (the one with the four corners rule, for instance, King being able to participate in captures) and other Tafl games as well? Asymmetrical games (like Fox And Geese) are too very exciting to play, and it would be nice to have some of them in the great BrainKing community. The second suggestion is about Hex 11x11: could it be possible to have a version of this classical game also implemented? Thank you very much.
On the players' main profile page, could you write their number of active games somewhere? For instance: Personal data | Finished games | Started games(number here) | Tournaments | Fellowships | Stairs
As a warning of huge game lists. (Yes, I have a slow computer..)
gambler104:If you have a game being played EG: "backgammon" "standard stairs" "persons name" and if you click on "standard stairs" you will go directly to the stairs and if you have challenged then it will tell you you can't create another game but if you can you're at the required page. Hope this makes sense
plaintiger: The newer additions such as ludo, or la chess, or ambiguous chess are shown in the order they were created. But alphabetical order would be nice (not sure on different language details though).
plaintiger: Well, I know there was that link. I was just looking for some way to go directly to the second page or for pawns to go to the challenge page of the stair that they are in.
ChrisC: i don't know, but it's my guess that the games are in alphabetical order in Czech and what we see in English is the games in the same order. but i agree that if we could somehow get the games in alphabetical order in English that would save a lot of time and frustration, especially with so (commendably) long a game list.
gambler104: there's already a link to all the stairs - it's the sixth link from the top in the link list at the left side of the page - and once you're there, it's just one more click - on the "show your stairs only" link - to get to your own stairs. if that helps.
King Reza:Everybody has to start somewhere, spare a thought for the newby to this site they have to play games to get a BKR. If you limit them to your games they could struggle to find somebody to play to get a BKR. My opinion only
plaintiger:No. i'm asking for a feature that allows us to choose whether we want people with provisional BKRs accept our invitations or not. Currently, BKR accepts 1860 and 1860 just the same.
King Reza: unless i'm misunderstanding what you're saying, we can already do that. setting the BKR range of people who can accept your invitation is in step 1 of the game creation process.
i was thinking my suggestion of a series of games would be more useful when you're inviting a specific person to play than when you're putting a standing invitation into the waiting room anyway. when you invite a friend, you know you're up for a number of games with them in a row, but you won't know that if you don't know against whom you're going to wind up playing.
Mr. Shumway:Me too. But, yet again, I am going to ask for the feature that allows us filter those who can pick our invitations by their Provisional/Established BKR too.
2006/04/13, 17:59:44 (Fencer) Portuguese Checkers are not implemented here yet. 2006/04/14, 10:40:30 (pauloaguia) does that mean they will be? 2006/04/14, 11:43:15 (Fencer) Sure, why not.

something i'd like to see - though i may be alone in seeing the advantage of this - is the ability to invite someone to a series of individual, counted games. right now we can invite someone to a series of games the end result of which counts as a single win or loss, or we can invite someone to a bunch of individual, counted games, but all those individual counted games start at the same time. what i'd like to see added is the ability to invite someone to, say, 5 individual games that don't start all at the same time, but in sequence - only one running at a time, and the next one in the series starts when the one before it ends, and each game in the series counts as a win or a loss for the players' records (unless of course the "not counted" option is chosen by the invitor).
does that sound like a good idea to anyone else? it seems to me the only thing missing from BK's invitation options.
it would basically be the same as inviting your opponent to a new game each time your game with them ends - just without having to go through the invitation process all over again for each game. or conversely, it would be the same as playing an [x number]-games match, but with each game counting toward the players' ratings.
in fact, it could be implemented in just that way: as an option to count each game under the [x number]-games match choice.
It would be nice to have more interesting Google AdSense advetirsement. All these WorldOfWarcraft and sites to play backgamon advetirsements are quiet boring - I rarely click them.
This can be implemented, for example, in the following way: I specify keywords in my settings page and get Google ads for these keywords. This way there is much higher chance that I will click them more often.
ChrisC: I agree Chris. Go to some pages where all Games are listed e.g. Rules page, would be nicer and easier in alpabetical order. Also be handy in Fellowships as well.
I'm not really sure how the games are sorted in the big lists(where all games on the server may be listed); however, I'd like to see it listed alpabetically in some manner. For instance, you might have all variants of chess listed under 'chess' as a group heading... like this:
Breakthrough Chess Abstract Chess Chess Linear Chess
This is just so that we can find a type of game quickly instead of having to search through the whole list for it.
