I had the pleasure of seeing this tour prior to the band imploding. This is the only video I could find of my favorite song of theirs.I 'm not intending to bring politics to this board, and my position will remain a private matter.
TexasToest: I think I got that movie out of my system after about the 20th midnite show, but I do enjoy the music and opening.I caught Meatloaf here about two months ago.He is wise to have a top notch band, because he has a very tough time reaching the notes these days.At times you could feel the whole audience straining with him as he tried to climb the range.
TexasToest: I agree, many a song I have been on another planet entirely when it comes to what I hear and what's actually written.I can understand his sensitivity, but I hope they all shared a good laugh after the misunderstanding was clarified
In the meantime, let there be rock!,I'm the kid wearing the horns
TexasToest: really? I can see it being mistaken for "saxman" and running the risk of offending a sax player.I don't see how they could hear fat, unless of course the singer had a lisp
Emne: Re: What's a saturday morning without THE CLASH?
Mousetrap: I still kick myself for not bidding on an a guitar that was autographed by all the original band members. It was available at an auction on a cruise I was on,and that was prior to Joe Strummers passing
TexasToest: I'm not sure, the link was actually sent to me by a business associate. They really seem to be really influenced by Iggy Pop during his Stooges period.
Nirvana: For the trivia buffs out there.Anne Murray was Elvis's favorite female singer. He even covered SNOWBIRD......Interesting additional story behind this song.It was released during the cold war,a number of people in the US military had suspicios minds regarding its intent. Some thought it was recorded by Canadian communist allies with the intent of having it played as a signal for attack on strategic American installations.Upon hearing this rumor Elvis stopped performing the song in public, and had The Colonel ask radio stations to also cease playing his version.
Loved his stuff right up to The Pleasure Principle. I remember trying to contain my laughter as he rode his little bumper car around the stage,I don't think it was the response Gary was hoping for.Watch as Gary gives a "I think I ate some bad pancakes" expression at the 2:53 mark.
Lisa A: I'm a self taught drummer.I learned to play by putting on the headphones and playing the complete 2112 album over an over.Peart is a God.Here is a rare treat I've been saving for an occasion such as this
Tigger: I'm happy to hear my comment was recieved as it was intended.I enjoy shooting the breeze with you folks about the music and artists,I 'd hate to lose that.
This guy is quite a talent,he could put percussionists out of work! He should team up with Bobby McFerrin
The embedding feature is cool,it looks nice and adds color to the board.I hope this doesn't become the board version of MTV though.Slapping down videos with no discussion or time to savour them each individually would be a shame,I personally enjoy the discussion aspect of this board and would hate to see it become merely a video posting option with no chat about the artists or performances. The sheer volume alone could lead it down that path I'll continue posting links for two reasons 1:I can post multiple or single video performances without scrolling off too many posts. 2: cuz I have no idea how to embed
Again,my only concern with embedding is the risk that this board loses its conversational aspect and basically becomes MTV
TexasToest: This is just a guess, but considering the video was circa 1972 maybe it was used for live stereo enhancement.i know The Grateful Dead used a similar mic setup when using their famous "BEAST" pa system
coan.net: I think it looks really cool visually, but I do worry that the sheer size of the screen will cause interesting conversations to be scrolled off too quickly to be read or responded to.
awesome: I never recovered from learning Commander Tom was moonlighting as a weatherman.I felt sorry for him thinking space exploration maybe didn't pay so well
Emne: Re: amongst those born 6th June are ...........Steve Vai
awesome: Damn right.Didn't they both play together in a Buffalo band called Talas? I remember that band always being considered the best band out of Buffalo
