The best way would be to join a fellowship dedicated to espionage, such as Espionage Freaks!
but you have to be a paying member to join.
You can however network with members of that fellowship and possibly ask a member to start a tournament that you could play in.
But, remember that as a non paying member, you can only play in one tournament at a time

What is a fellowship?
What kind of advantages can I get if I join?

What do "Fellowships" mean?

Fellowships give any player with Brain Knight or higher level a possibility to join a "virtual game club" on BrainKing.com. Each fellowship is created and organized by its Big Boss (any player with Brain Rook or higher level), can contain player teams of all game types, its members can discuss at the fellowship's private discussion board. More features (internal Big-Boss-controlled fellowship tournaments, team tournaments, ...) will be implemented later.

Members of a fellowships can have ranks with different rights and features. This is a description of the ranks:

* Member - normal fellowship member. He/she can join the teams, read and write to discussion boards of the fellowship.
* Manager - besides all advantages of normal members he/she can become a captain of any team and set team ranks of their players.
* Big Boss - the ruler of the fellowship. Besides all advantages of managers he/she can allow players to join his/her fellowship, ban players for this fellowship, set ranks of all members (define managers etc.) and write fellowship news (displayed on the fellowship's main page). Only a member with Brain Rook or higher level can become the Big Boss.

And this is a description of the team ranks:

* Player - normal team member.
* Captain - the team leader. He/she can throw players out of the team, organizes team matches etc. Only a member with manager or higher rank can become a team captain.

Vikings:

So we could create an SL fellowship, run tournaments, team tournaments, and have a dedicated discussion board?

Have been playing here a short while, creating games in the waiting room, and challenging those who have created games. Have played enough games to see myself in the espionage BKR list (like a ladder?)

But still can't fathom out much of the stuff here. In honesty, haven't had the time to read up on it all....

So what is a Pond?

Have decided not to renew my IYT membership, instead spent my hard earned money on a membership here!

Mark

SL-Mark: a pond is the only multi-player game on here so far, there are others that are being considered
there are 3 different types of ponds, here are the rules
How to play "Run around the Pond?"

1) All participants start with 20,000 points which are to be reasonably used for the whole run.

2) During each move, a player can use any amount of remaining points. The used points are valid only in the current move and after the round is finished, they are definitely lost.

3) The player who uses the least amount of points in the current round, falls to the pond and is expelled from the game. All his remaining points are forfeited and nobody else can use them. If more than one player use least amount of points in the same round, all of them plop to the water and are out of the game. In the Run in the rain variant, the player who uses the most amount of points falls to the pond too.

4) If a player has no points left, he must make the next move with 0 points and it is very unlikely he will stay on the pondside.

5) The player who uses the most points in the current round (the second most points in the Run in the rain variant), receives a bonus of 500 points which will be added to his remaining points. If more than one player use the highest amount in the same round, no bonus will be given to anyone.

6) The player who does not make a move before the current round deadline (similar to a timeout), automatically uses the same amount of points as in the previous round. Warning! No days off (weekends, vacations, holidays) are applied in this game.

7) Every player who does not make the first move (after the run is started), automatically falls to the pond along with players who use the least amount of points. In the Run in the rain variant, this is applied to players who use the most amount of points too.

8) The game is finished either when only one player stays on the pondside (this player is the winner) or all players are squelching in the pond (nobody wins).

We are getting off topic for this board, I would suggest moving the conversation to this board http://brainking.com/en/Board?bc=1
It is a busier board so you will get feedback from more people than just me

Vikings: Indeed we may ask things that aren't immediately involved with espionage, but we are dedicated fans of the game and want to check out how to get a group together here. So I think it's best to keep the talk here. Thank you for explaining about the pond, eventhough I still don't grasp everything about it. Can anyone get into a pond? Can you make an espionage pond? I don't get the multiplayer thing.

Chaos: You have to be a paying member to play in ponds, there are public ponds and fellowship only ponds.
Just like the other sites, there are "perks" for being a paid member.
As far as understanding ponds, perhaps it might be better to look at a finished pond move for move, here is one you can look at http://brainking.com/en/Pond?bms=0&g=4630 , You might just recognize the winner!;-)

Vikings: thank you for your explanation (and congrats with your victory ;), I now grasp the idea of the pond game. I thought a pond was a tournament form for any game, but I see it's a game in itself. Indeed it has nothing to do with espionage.
