At the first glance, Berolina Chess looks exactly like standard Chess. However, the difference becomes obvious when a player tried to move a pawn. In this variant, pawns move diagonally and capture enemy pieces vertically forward. The following picture shows all move options of white pawns in green dots:
Please note that a pawn on its initial row can move either one or two spaces diagonally, similar to one or two spaces forward in classic Chess. En passant captures are possible in Berolina Chess as well. For example, when a white pawn stands on C5 and black moves a pawn from D7 to B5, white can makes a capture move C5-C6. Of course, as in standard Chess, en passant capture must be done immediately after black's pawn move, otherwise this option is lost. The next picture displays en passant capture (before and after):
