Yes, it’s a great fellowship and it’s filling up fast. Pretty soon this old place will probably be pretty quiet so get over here quick. Lots of tournament talking without the buncombe.

Teema: Re: Never-ending tourneys because of one player
A while back I invited a player to one of my tournaments. He said he couldn't play unless it had at least a 7 day per move minimum. The reason? He only had access to computers on the weekend.
I've noticed many players I've played are slow to move in our games too. But then they have nearly a hundred games they are playing. It's no wonder they can't make a move every day in games with me. And that is fine with me. Like WhiteKnight has said, it's really their business.
When we join a tourney that has a 14 day move limit, we have to assume that at least someone may only make a move every 14 days and ask ourselves can we live with that. Personally I can't so I try to avoid those tourneys.
My comments might not be any consolation to a brain pawn since I don't have the restrictions they have. However, for a very very small fee, 2 bucks a month, one can eliminate the limits. When's your next birthday? Chistmas is coming too. Where there's a will, there's a way. Join up. :)
I am running a Loop chess tournament (Let's Get Loopy AD's Loop Chess #2) with a limit of 6. There are 7 joined now. I am assuming that with the limit of six that once I start the tourney it will divide into sections of no more than six. I have it set up this way:
Minimum number of players: 4
Maximum number of players: unlimited
Maximum number of players per section: 6
Does this mean I need at least 8 (or 12 ) so that sections meet the no less than 4 criteria?
Basically a free membership is designed to try out the site. It's not too much to ask for nonmembers to pay the measly 28 bucks for Rook or 18 for Knight for a year. That's basically a couple of dinners out, or 7 packs of smokes, or 9 Northwest lattes...and it lasts a year. Can't afford it? Buy the 1/2 year. Ten bucks for 6 months...that's all. Try it out, if you like it, support it. The idea that someone might not be able to "afford" a paying membership makes me wonder how they can afford their online service? It's a matter of priorities IMO.
Congratulations to netvenus for winning the ArtfulDodger's Backgammon Tourney with a score of 6 of 7!!! Way to go!! And hooray for Artful Dodger for coming in last place!!! ;)
I need two more players in the ArtfulDodger tournament to start it and prefer 4 more. Any chess players out there?? :) Hope so! Oh yeah, it's U1800 so if your rating is 1800 or above, sorry.
Good to have you with us. :) Hopefully we can get enough interested. I may have a Backgammon tourney too, or join one. I'm rather a new player at it but am learning fast. Have a great Saturday!
