Hi volant - thank you for replying! I only receive the castle once i open my messagebox and click on finished games.. Its very strange to click on links and suddenly receive such a page.. makes me confused; think i am landed in the wrong website.. very strange...

Is it right, that BK is changing in a new outfit? A castle? Since when and why?

Actually I like the outfit like it used to be...

KotDB:  I assumed that the bug would disappear this weekend, when the US would have gone on DST if the Congress had not lost its mind, and Europe also goes on DST (if I am not mistaken).  For this reason I did not attempt to reset the time to GMT -7, since that would introduce a new error at the weekend.

I hope Fencer will not be burdened with the task of redefining GMT, which seems pretty well defined as it stands.

I wouldn't waste time trying to change the way the time displays for the remainder of this week.  I just wanted to point out that, due to a change in US DST, whatever algorithms were in place to fix the time display were not displaying the time correctly.

As a further note, the US government is required to produce a report on whether the early switch to DST (and the late switch back to Standard Time) actually saves energy.  If it does not, then we will revert to normal DST in the future.

alanback: The time is currently displayed correctly according to your settings. For example, if you live in the Pacific time zone, Pacific Standard Time (PST) is GMT-8 and Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) is GMT-7. So if you want BrainKing to display PDT, you should have your time zone set to GMT-7.

The bug will appear this coming weekend, when the Czech Republic shifts to summer time and Fencer attempts to redefine Greenwich Mean Time.

In my opinion, what is needed at the bottom of the page, is links to each language..... like it is on the bottom of the main sign-in page:

English | čeština | Deutsch | Português | Nederlands | slovenčina | Français | Castellano Español | Svenska | Italiano | Türkçe | 汉语 | Esperanto | Românã | русский | eesti

AbigailII: It's important the languages can be switched fast. If I copy/paste, I might want the context in english, or I need to know a word in english, or a link to a tournament changes all further pages to an other language.

I like the new stile quite good so far, I'm just used to the row-layout, wich I hope is not too complicate to create.

Fencer, the message box in the new styles is not very clear (well on this PC) as too which messages have been read and which not.
Well the No fonts option is not to bad.
Could you make the read messages show in italics or the unread ones more bolder than they are please.

Side note, i like the simple style, i think it clean, tidy & clear

Hieronymus: But having the flags on the top right is such a waste of screen real estate, and is only useful for a handful of people (the translators), and even then I doubt they switch between all of them.

I rather not have items on the top of the page that are either useful to only a very few number of people (the flags), or contain things I already know (for instance, the current date and the time).

emmett: Maybe most users never change the language, but for translators it is very important to have the possibility of easy switching them. I think that the simple mode should have the same functionality as the castle.

Hieronymus: I don't miss the flags. The main page should be as simple as possible. It should be a "Setting", whether or not to have the language flags on the main page. It should also be a setting to permanently have the main page in "Simple" mode rather than "castle".

I miss the flags for language switching in the simple and no fonts layout of the main page. Furthermore there is no link indication on the right side of the screen, e.g. for fellowships. At least that is inconsistent to the menu on the left.
For the castle layout this is ok.
I hope, this will be changed for simple and no fonts layout before the official release of them.

When using the style no-fonts, which now applies to the Message Box list. There is something still makeing the message list really small - which then transfers over and makes the favourite boards & Fellowships list in the right column small also. Can we get out that small font from the discussion board for the no-font theme also? Thanks.

but still the ad took over brainkings tab, made it small, popped up another window, which i could only close, then it showed the window in which brainking was with the drivecleaner site

i had to close that one .. and restart in brainking .. and .. within 10 clicks on brainking .. it happened again :)

now i am a few more clicks further and it didnt happen again .. but 2 times is quite annoying (1 time already is)

(just got this computer on friday, still in the process of installing all, will have ff on it again soon .. but still .. this ad is quite annoying)

it loaded in the brainking tab (i have to admit i am using ie, didnt install ff on this new pc yet) .. made the window very small (not minimized) .. showed another window in the center of my screen . when i close the originally brainking window show another window of drivercleaner showing my pc (although they gave my drives the wrong names :)) .. showing i had threats on it .. and trying to make me download something (a cab file)

its quite nasty as i have to close down my ie .. restart it .. and login into brainking again

popups might be annoying .. but this is worse
(i might be able to live with popups alone :))

I had hoped you would say I would have to live with it, then I could then say if I have to live with Castle, I would tell you I would then need a quick submit button near the top of the screen - Feature requests (BIG BAD WOLF, 2007-03-16 04:36:48) (Which of course I still want very much - but don't have a good excuse now...)

Subject: Persistent style switcher
I'm guessing this is what the problem is - but when I choose the no-font style that I like better, and go to another page - the page loads completly with the castle theme then after it is loaded then switches to the nofont theme that I like. I'm almost positive it did not do this before - and a reason I pick the nofont is so it will load on the screen faster without having to load and display all the different images - and having it load completly with the castle theme first and then suddenly switching to the correct theme on every page load - that will start to get VERY old VERY fast. Any way we can have it load the theme we like from the start?

Subject: "nofonts" style.
Interestingly enough, while most fonts are larger if I choose the 'nofonts' style, the style switcher is significantly smaller. The 'nofonts' style makes it extra, extra small, which turns out to be quite a lot smaller than the 10pt. fixed setting for the simple style. Simple style ranges from 10 to 15pts, nofonts uses: xx-small, small, smaller, larger, and fixed sizes 10px and 11px (bug?).

I prefer the nofonts, although I wouldn't mind seeing 'xx-small' go.
