Play Cloning Gammon for a prize. , this tourney caused Cloning Backgammon to have more than 2500 games running! Is this also the biggest 21-point cubed Gammon tournament?

Pbarb2: You can't "delete" boards - but you can do what you said (change name of board to "." - so most will not find it.

To delete all messages, either click delete on all messages, Ask Fencer to do it for you, or probable the best - click "Edit" and change the read access to "Brain King" - that way not even you can see the messages in the board (so it looks like everything is gone)

Then just post in the description of the board "This board is closed." or something like that.

Getting rid of fellowship Board.
Go into the edit for that board and change the name to a period, then change who can read and post to king, all that will be left is a " . " that most people will never find and if they do they cannot go to the page anyway, but you know it is there in case you want to start it up again someday
I saved this in my notebook. I don't know where I got it.
I want to get rid of two boards and the messages. Where do you put king if that is what we are to do? On that part on who can read the board it has choices..no place to write anything.
Thanks for any help.

So, if someone posts a post just before midnight (server time), and then 100 people go there to read it the next day, it may become one of the most popular boards, even if no messages are posted for that whole day...

After finishing 25 rated games of one kind the provisional BKR changes to "established BKR" and is displayed by normal font (e.g. 1853). If you complete more games, your BKR is more accurate because is based on more results.

Ambigious Dice Chess...

Whats that? Each time, mark a field where to play, but you can only mark an ambigious field ( where 2 or more pieces can go), then randomize which piece to go.

Hieronymus: The idea of a new variant has been proved with Assimilation (was called Ataxx when released). When the Ataxx rule of a knight move was introduced Fencer released a new version called Ataxx, and the old version of Ataxx was called Assimilation.

As i mentioned, most people prefer the Assimilation version, so even by introducing the proper rules to a game like Ataxx, does not mean people will prefer that version, even if it is the proper one.
The games of Dice Chess is still new, so its a good time to do it.

As for explaining the rule difference, good question, i would ask BBW to write it, he is good with words

MadMonkey: I have noticed the same annoying necessary to move the king. And just that detail is the reason for my voting to change the rules. A new variant will lead sooner or later to a situation, that the old variant wouldn't be played anymore.
Btw., how would you explain the differences between the two variants to the average player?

Subject: Re: Dice Chess
Hieronymus: Of course the probabilities would change as pieces are taken, as in Chess, if 2 Pawns are taken, odds are 6-1.

Its has to be new, i think the change is alot. I have played alot of games of it now, and one thing that crops up alot is having to move your King for no reason, just because the Kings pawn square is free for example. At least with an odds change, the chances of things like that happening are not evens LOL
You may say small, but there was only a small change in Ataxx & Assimilation, but from experience i know most people prefer Assimilation.

MadMonkey: How should the probabilities be affected, if there are already pieces captured? I think, if there are e.g. 2 pawns captured, there should be a ratio of 6:1 instead of 8:1.
And why this should be a new game? The changes would be minor enough (most players wouldn't notice them), that they should affect the current version.

'Percentile Dice Chess' or just 'Percentile Chess' there you go Fencer, an instant new game, and you only have to change the code slightly

joshi tm: Like you say, the odds would be normal Chess odds as such, as in which actual piece may move. In other words, if you had advanced your king pawn, the odds would would be 8-1 they you would have to move the King, where as now its evens.

The game would be totaly different, call 'Dice Chess the Revenge of the 16 sided percentile dice' or 'Percentile Dice Chess'

percentile, love that word danheg LOL

Subject: Re: Dice Chess
MadMonkey: It's not necessary, to have a more-than-6-sided die, but, I think, it would be a good idea, to have the probabilities weighted this way. That means, it would be 8 times more probable to roll a "1" than a "6", and 2 times more probable to roll a "2", "3" or "4" than "5" or "6". What do you think?

Another question according this game: Is it possible to castle or to capture en passant, if the die and the usual chess rules allow it?

Fencer: It can, BUT a computer can pick and Random number between 2 points, as in 1 & 16 at the start of a game.

If it picked a number between :
1 and 8 = 1 Pawn
out of 9 & 10 = 2 Knight
out of 11 & 12 = 3 Bishop
out of 13 & 14 = 4 Rook
a 15 = 5 Queen
or 16 = 6 King

In other words your chances of moving a pawn are greatly increased at the start, and most the way through the game. It would make for a totaly different game. I thought the 1 to 6 way was the way it was happening

But then if you did it that way, could not really be called Dice Chess, but could be another version (Dice Chess 2), at least the maths percentage would be right LOL

Between 1 and 6

Or

Between 1 and 16 (or all possible pieces available to a player)
