Brian1971, pauloaguia: I put a post on the Stairs board about the same thing.
I am sure Fencer could write a script that would automatically check all steps and send you a message of available challenges for you(maybe once a week). If you have not made any challenges(after another week) it could either drop you a step, start retiring you or remove from the stairs.
It should only do this if there are players for you to challenge, if not leave you on the step you are on as it is not your fault.

Brian1971: And since bots seem to be in the order of the day, these days, why not build a script to do that automatcially. I seem to remember posting something along these lines a few months ago... Let me see if I can find it...

I do have a request for Fencer. Could you by some chance remove the inactive players from the stairs games. Some players havent played on site for months and some dont even participate in the stairs anymore. Also since in my opinion some of the stairs games are basically dead, we should either remove them or do some sort of promotional deal to give people reason to play them. I like the concept of stairs. It is a King of the Mountain type of attitude invlovement with them. I would like to see them competitive. Thanks.

"Have Fun": you have 3 vacation days planned for 2007 (i can see that when i look at your profile) .. those 3 days are already substracted from your total amount of vacation days

i am not sure if they are substracted from your total of this year though .. as the planned ones are for next year

try to remove a planned vacation day (from 2007) and check if you get a spare extra vacation day to use in 2006

Buz: yes, all games in a match has to be finished first before the match is taken into account for the rating points

1 match counts as 1 entry for the rating points

1 match of (for example) 9 games counts as much as 1 match of 1 game
1 match of 9 points counts as much as 1 match of 1 point

Buz: Because your rating was higher then your opponent, then you *should* have won - so by your opponent getting a draw overall, he actually beat the odds and was able to gain a few points.

The ratings take into consideration current ratings of you & your opponent, plus how many games you and your opponent has played. The more games complete, the less of a rating change there will be. But yes, it is normal to have draws change your rating.

pauloaguia: yes but what was confusing me is that on that game i show as losing rating points but i won that game and lost the first so i was thinking i should not have lost points for winning but i believe they must wait till both games are finnished before the rating points are added or removed ?

Buz: Yes, it's right. But indeed it would be so less confusing if the message said the match was a draw and not the game. (hint to Fencer ;))

Buz: Yes, it was a match of 2 games.
siddhim won the first & you won the second on a time-out.

So the match is a 1-1 draw

your opponent ran out of time
The game is a draw.

siddhim: old BKR = 1941, new BKR = 1953 (+12)
Buz: old BKR = 2172, new BKR = 2167 (-5)

Game type: Backgammon
Stairs: Slow Stairs
