i love that you are giving us a chance to win a rook membership the only downful i see with this is if your a knight you have no chance in winning no matter how hard you try as playing against rook that have unlimited games and we can only play at most 50 i'm try hard and keep moving down the list not up
Well, to be fair, GoldToken and DailyGammon are two that spring to mind. ;o) I won a membership at GT and DailyGammon is totally free, so there's no need to buy membership, but some players do put up prizes for tourneys. Friendliness at both sites is second to none.
btw, when i say friendly atmosphere , that doesnt just imply giving away prizes ...(that was just a example) but the people here are more friendly , less rude and and it just feels like you can openly state your mind and feel relaxed
i think this site is better than iyt ...(and im not saying this for the heck of it ) because for some cosmic reason the people here are much more friendly ... i mean where else do you find the site creator offering rewards for free and not just him but many members make tournaments with free prizes and i know few who have gifted memberships to others. i havent seen that anywhere else and i dont know if theres a formula for creating such an atmosphere either but nevertheless you see it here and thats a great infact the greatest achievement of this site in my opinion.
pattey: I have played on IYT for years and find it to be a very good game site but I do not go on the message boards for the reason you speak of..too much nastiness!
I just wanted to let it be known to the site - I support Fencer fully in every option, upgrade, action and so on and so forth - I also want to thank him for responding so quickly to a request i made to have your monthly action point history available on your profile.... awesome - and thank you....
Fencer: somebody who knows my real name can use the action point statistics (which is stored "forever") to gain insight into how often I play games (instead of doing something else, for example). At least that's more related to privacy than some other options you have implemented.
However, I'm not going to argue this any longer; it's your site and you choose what to do; I hope I've said my opinion clear enough so this is my last post on the topic.
Stevie: it's his computation his way, no one likes ad's but his way to check things out rumming in full works with ad's. crazy me i'm not into all this point making deal as some of you are but i sure do love the traffic, lol. many more people playing more games and more moves in a day, i'm loving it when i am here. deside wheather you want the points or just plain jane games. the ad's help him and this site.
Subject: Not a bad feature, but probably not intended
Just to see what would happen, I turned on the banner ads at the top of the pages. Then BrainKing told me, "Your current settings do not allow you to receive Action Points. Click here to fix it." I clicked there, and it turned off the banner ads on the top of the pages.
playBunny: What exactly is lost when Fencer gives someone a membership? You had given up paying for memberships, yet you got one for free, what did Fencer lose by giving that to you?
Cluck: Without knowing what Fencer's aims are, I feel certain that testing the system is not enough reason for having gone to all this trouble and putting up generous prizes.
Stevie Your membership entitles you to many things but there's no reason why it should provide free entry into Fencer's competition. It could but it's not a must. Rather than think of ads as being an insult to your membership rights, see that they are the entry fee to the competition. One which you don't have to pay if you don't want to be in the competition. If Fencer can recoup some of the costs of running these competitions through ad click-throughs that's surely not something you'd begrudge him, is it?
Czuch Czuckers: It's his contest so I guess he can set up the rules anyway he wants ;) color me stupid, but I couldn't find the ads on my homepage! duh. I've since figured out where they are. Frankly it's like they aren't really there and I do have the option of not participating. ;)
BIG BAD WOLF: Thats a good idea.... it doesnt really matter though, since i think I am on here a lot, and play at least 700 moves a week, many weeks much more, and that wont even get me into the top 500 action points!
Stevie: I keep the ad's on the bottom of the screen (and to the right now), and they don't bother me at all - if I was forced to see them at the top of the screen, then I would not even play with the action points - but where they are - at least I feel that they don't bother me much at all. (plus reminds me to click on them every once and awhile to help Fencer earn a few more cents)
I know you are gonna jump on me, but we as paying members,, should have the choice of banner adds or not, so why should we have to do something like see those addys just to get points.. Its wrong if you ask me..
Yeah maybe make none paying members (pawns) do it, but I thought there was meant to be advantages to being a paid member??
