I haven't read feature requests yet, but if its not stepping on anyones toes I'd like to leave these posts here. They're helpful to people setting up games.

Harley - lol - I thought it was a feature request, and Reza agreed, so he posted. then it turned into a good discussion about it so hopefully it will prove to be a good point on Feature Request.

Maybe I phrased that wrong! It was kind of a feature request, but also a feature of BK that was being discussed... oh I give up!

Its not really a feature request, Bry. Its a discussion about how to get around the provisional/unrated BKR It might be of interest to others anyway who have been wondering the same thing!

Thad: A match is always a sequence of games with alternated colours. You probably want to define 10 standalone games, not a match.

Fencer: I'm trying to hlep a friend improve his pente play. I want to set up a whole bunch of games (a 10 points match), played one at a time, where I'm always player 2, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

7. January 2005, 20:01:57

ah, right i see - it must default to alternate colo(u)rs if you pick more than a 2 game match 0- so I'd say you cant then...?

select a 10 game match when you are setting the times and colour. dont select alternate colours...

How do I set up a series of 10 games against an opponent where I am black in all the games? I don't want to play them all at once, I want them to all occur one after another, but when I do that, the colors change each time.

Antje: What, you never played Pente before? :-D This feature is more than a year old. Since the first move must be done at the board centre, it is performed automatically.

it must be automatic, here's another game 592113
i didnt know this, is it a new feature?

i have a question. in playing this game #592123, it said i made a move at 6:05 am. thats when the tournament started (my time zone EST) but, i was asleep then, i didnt make the move.. that move couldnt have been automatic, could it?

Atomic chess: wins in 3 moves is the fastest I've ever seen... I actually lost my first game that way

Three move King Capture with Black winning:

72 move King capture White winning:
http://brainking.com/game/ArchivedGame?g=250097

Actually capturing the King requires a turn to do so the two quick games listed are probably the fastest games you could play. Atomic Chess might have a faster game possible, I'll have to think about it unless someone knows already. Seems like three moves would be it in that game too.

You have me curious what the average length of games is. Backgammon is a fairly constant 18 to 30 moves. Dark Chess has quite an extreme range, but I'd guess the average for games played until the King is actually captured to be about 25 moves. I suppose I could just add up my wins and losses moves per game and figure an average that way. The number on the profile isn't always the right number though and you'd have to look for games that end in resignations. Or maybe not, since resigning is part of the game it could be part of a complete average.

Latelly it happens to me to have notification of new messages on boards and when I go and check them out it just shows me messages I had already read.
For instance, as I'm writing this, Szirak's message has a "New!" symbol on it even though I had read it before. But when I read it the first time harley's and Szirak's previous messages were marked new as well and now it's just this last one so it can't be a cache issue.
This has been happening ever since new year and I think (but not sure) it has something to do with the fact that the messages in question were posted just about the time I was reading them.
The first time I just thought it was a fluke, with me having hit the board at almost the exact same time of the post. But it's happened 6 or 7 times in the last few days so now I start to think it's just too much of a coincidence...

Are you still doing experiences with time-travel Fencer? ;)

Thanks harley, the size requirements baffled me into thinking there was a greater difference, along with the fact that I really did think BC was a koala! :-)

An icon is just a picture which isn't a photograph. BerniceC is the closest who has an icon, if you scroll down. (Unless she really is a koala!! )

I see lots of pictures, but does anyone know anyone with an "icon" by their name? (FAQ)
